Backfire channel just did a test confirming the rumor I’ve heard. Copper bullets shoot beats with a totally clean barrel. Clean that barrel and try again.
It’s actually been a known secret for years to some of us reloader that use copper bullets a lot. Over my 60+ short years of hunting reloading and collecting rifles there is always a new tip out there if your willing to listen to us old timers🤔😳
I learned a trick from a PRS shooter. He hates large circles like the targets have you were shooting. So we put a small dot on a paper plate and my groups tightened up. AIM small miss small. That really is hard to do with a 3x9 scope.
Remember that the military snipers used a straight 10x scope for years for out to 1,000 yards because the fixed power are a lot more rugged and you don’t have to worry about parallax it’s all about your eyes and your ability!
I use NINE INCH diameter white paper plates when shooting my 1949 Winchester m70 30-06 with a 1960 K-4 Weaver 4x scope. Stapled to the cardboard backer, the plates show up great. You simply HOLD CENTER BY QUARTERING THE PLATE. Center is center, period. I shoot half inch 3 shot clusters at 100 yards with that setup. I have a stack of targets to prove it.
Wow did I mess up, I sent this info to the wrong blog, I have been unable to locate much 270 WSM brass or factory ammo so got hold of some 300 WSM brass and resized it to 270. No change in groups or velocity. Brass looks good no pressure signs, so good luck.
If your hunting within 250 yards flat base will almost always group better. For me I found the 150gr partitions in my 308 that shoot 3/4inch at 100 and not looking back. Riding the 2850 fps range & They just flatten whitetail right out.
Try to get your hands on some Alliant Reloader 2000MR. A great powder for your 308 and heavier bullets. My load is 47.3gns with 168Eldm's MV 2750. Just another option
Not much experience with TAC. I have used it for 5.56 and it seems ok. Not really loading with it heavily. I have a load worked up with 150TSX for my Model 88 Winchester and they shoot .75 inch at 100. The TTSX are better ballistically because the tip on the end.
Not bad, I have a lot tac,I will test mine soon, what do think of trying the same bullet and powder in 06? Do you think it is worth a try? There are published loads for tac and 150 gr for 06.
@@carlpreston1680yes you are correct the 165 grain in the 30-06 and the 150 grain in the 308 are the best choices I have found over the 60+ years I have been loading but the new 130 grain Barnes are super good to for either gun!

I get half inch with Barnesbullets 168gr at 100yd and 3/4 inch at 200 yd. Out of my Remington 30-06😊😊😊😊😊
Awesome!

270 wsm brass is hard to find

That’s great, thanks
That groups looks very promising. Should be able to tighten that group if you play around with seating depth
I appreciate it
H4895 or Varget for a 308 with 150gr , both are very good and temp stable.
@@superbeast-lq3ft thanks

The velocity in the last 3 loads was not consistent. Maybe the powder weight was not the same.
Just not a good sd.

They would work you'd get better velocity but the 165 or 168 TTSX probably be your best bet if you want a lighter bullet
