  • Asus let me check out the new 2024 Asus TUF A15 at their CES event. This thing may not have an aspect ratio that most models are moving to as this one is still 16:9. However, it's a great quality one with QHD, 500 nit brightness, 100% DCI-P3 and 165 Hz. While the display may be creator-worthy, the lack of an SD card slot leaves something to be desired in the port selection. The Ryzen 9 8945H chipset and up to Nvidia RTX 4070 certainly give it enough power for a more budget-friendly option. The build quality feels great and will certainly be tough enough with its Military Grade certification.

I snagged a a16 open box for 549, 7700s and 7940hs, and it’s amazing. I’d have to say it sounds better than what’s advertised in this video price aside.

@@topmech71 it was definitely a price mistake, it was 1280 open box, and 7am that morning it was dropped to 549! I reserved it and when I checked out the guy said uhm... he got 800 dollars off msrp how? It's been phenomenal, and super quiet and cool. As a legion guy with intel and Nvidia combo beforehand, im perfectly happy with it. it scored 10700 on time spy which for sub 600! YES. They did honor my sale tho, and have 11 months warranty left, and Asus added 1 year ADP for free when I registered. The guy must of not liked the sandstorm color is my reckon.

@@topmech71 thanks! I don't know why my reply isn't showing up, but it was 1280 the night before, but became 549 next day open box. I snagged it, scored 10700 time spy. 26,000 with custom fans and maxed out power limits would be low, but you didn't mention the power limits. If no power limits adjusted, then 26K is within normal range for lower power i9-13900HX.

The specs for this TuF laptop with R9-8945H and RTX 4070 is priced at 1.6k USD on my country (PH) via online shops and I bought 1 last week which was a huge upgrade from my old Asus RoG laptop that has GTX 1080. The only thing I hate so far is that it only has 2 USB type A unlike my previous laptop which has 3, no issues performance wise though.

The build quality is bad through and through.
Also, consider checking what military grade actually means.
The standard is so very easily bypassed so basically your regular kitchen toaster can get the grade. Sad but true…
Don’t even get me started on how notoriously bad ASUS rumor is with its mosfets.
Before I’m branded as a hater, I’d still sooner pick up an ASUS laptop over an Mai, gigabyte, dell and hp. Picking the lesser expensive evil is for each of us to decide.
Can’t really take this vid seriously other than being excited over the new stuff that’s coming out.
Sound advice to not touch f15 and a16 though so you get a plus for that.
