As you can hear I used the original soundtrack from the series, let's hope UA-cam doesn't take this video down.
Let's summarise my thoughts on this project: A kit that was equally fun and challenging but not without some frustrating problems.
    Pros:
The Design- is just 10/10, one of G-System's top designs, plus the structural design has been improved vastly compared to the 1/48 Nu Gundam. And the plastic inner frame is very much appreciated over a resin one.
Colours- As always my approach to colours is a mix of anime accurate and "realism", imagine the suit just out of the factory. So colouring wise I used orange preshade on 3 shades of warm yellow, although some grey and tan added to dull the vibrancy down a touch. Yellow is also one of the hardest colours to mix as it doesn't mix well with white and black, so making different tones of yellow took a lot of attempts.
Fun Accessories- as with all G-System's kits, this one comes with a lot of fun stuff such as metal etch, metal parts, LEDs, light up beam saber etc. They made the building experience much richer.
    Cons:
Fitment- although it's much improved, there were still parts that wouldn't fit very smoothly and was a challenge to assemble whilst not chipping the paint. A lot of shaving and sanding to make certain parts fit.
Decals- all the big white decals go over edges (copied from official photos), but they were not designed to, meaning it was a nightmare to try to flatten the decals.
Weight- again, though not as heavy as the 1/48 Nu Gundam, there was still a minor balancing issue with the butt flap pulling the kit backwards, luckily the plastic frame was much more stable than the resin frame.
Finish- with a kit that has so much surface area the challenge was to keep the surface smooth and clean. That meant roughly 3-4 rounds of prime and sand to ensure the surface is even, and constantly removing dust at the end stages.

I wonder if it's possible to combine the Perfect Grade Unleashed RX-78 Gundam with the Perfect Grade Wing Zero EW, add some custom made Ver. Ka details and a custom made snow white kit scaled up to the Perfect Grade size. Would be an awesome build if possible!

Man this video seriously inspired me to improve on this hobby and get to this level of doing justice to even a Resin kit. Thank you for the amazing content. And shoutout to G system to such a well proportioned suit.

For 4:37 and 4:54 did you paint those segments with a enamel or acrylic paint, and then use their respective thinners to clean it up?

@@JLGunplaUK did you use acrylic for the wash. I’ve only ever seen people use enamel for reverse washes.

Luv it, what a fantastic giant of a model kit. I'd be happy if Bandai would reprint the MG lol... also YT won't take your video down for a copyright unless it's a monetized channel. It would already be gone otherwise, since it's an automatic process with their bot thingies that listen in for copyright music.

I watch this video probably once a week still. You need to get the pg size neograde double zeta for the companion piece

    • @JLGunplaUK
      @JLGunplaUK  2 роки тому

You know, I keep debating whether to get it. But the down side is there's no original cast neograde anymore so the next best thing is SH Studio recast, but still it's a recast and it's full resin...

@@JLGunplaUK I plan on getting that version of it too after I get through a couple gks I already have. G system has the fazz too in 1/72nd but I prefer the neograde
