The best science fiction author by a mile. Niven’s stories always encompass hard science and big ideas. I’ve loved his known space novels for 50 years. I always thought they would, in chronological order, make for a fantastic tv series, all the short stories and the novels. I think his earliest known space,, using the internal chronology of known space, story is possibly the Gil “the arm” Hamilton stories. Followed by World of Ptaavs, then A Gift From Earth, then Protector. What a great start that would be to a tv series. You have probably got two full seasons in just those few stories. The longer stories obviously serialised.
I’m so glad you’re focusing on these Niven stories. Would you consider doing some of the short stories from the book N-space or similar collections? Short but fun. Example: “The subject is closed” is I believe 6 pages long but it’s a very thought provoking one.
Larry Niven and Jerry P co-wrote Lucifer's Hammer, the best post apocalyptic novel ever. The rights for the film have been moved around different players and it looks like it'll never happen which is just as well 'cause woke hollyweird would screw it all up. I've read Niven's entire Known Space series and just about everything he wrote. I like his writing style and his characters.
If I recall correctly BVS-1 is also Phssthpok's Star from Protector.
Yeah, the one Brennan used to fight the pak near the end of the novel. I always thought it was weird he named it after the guy he killed. lol
@@SciFiSecrets Because of the sacrifice Phssthpok gave to get the root and the knowledge of the Pak to Humanity.

That would be great to see all he's written on TV. Stage trees blew my mind.
I love Larry’s writing not only does it often strike me as a bit poetic but the stories are killer.
This was the first Niven story I ever read, so many years ago.
My favorite Larry Niven story.......true SF!!
I really like this story, I've read it a few times,

Yeah, Niven is so much fun to read! I have a vague plan of doing all his work eventually.
And the Pupeteers paid him a BIG hush bonus to never mention gravity!
lol
Wait.. I thought they paid him the hush money to not mention that the Pupeteer homeworld has no moons?
@@70briareos That too! He be a super rich man!!
Wonderful! Say do you have other Niven short stories you read at your sight? Maybe some Jerry P?
I am working on "at the core" for next week rn. :)

💜
Niven had a poor understanding of differential gravitation.
