As a Swedish speaker, I can confirm that this is 100% accurate. This is exactly how the language works.
😂😂😂😂
not a very good Swedish speaker
@@helvete983 Nah mate, I'm fluent. Which is how I know the skit is absolutely accurate.
@217 How could you say such a thing. This is blasphemy! This is nothing more than Danish mockery of us.
What I say to yall is this. Med plutonium, tvingar vi ni på knä
Well im Swedish and you are wrong 😂 you have been called on your bullshit😁
The Z was not cheating, the normal pronunciation in the UK is 'zed'. The 2 Ronnies were essential viewing here and are still worth a look now, very clever stuff.
That was a joke! 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane I zee.
@@allanmanaged5285 🤭
It was written by Ronnie Barker (the big guy) .
He was brilliant at word play and contortions of the English language.
Genius.
The S I L L Y C O W punch line cracks me up every time brilliant
Ronnie Barker’s Swedish accent came via Calcutta… I usually hate it when a reviewer keeps pausing a video but it’s so endearing watching you figure things out after a pause of 30 seconds that it never gets irritating 😂
I was particularly slow with this one for some reason! 😅😅
@@MandyCaneLane not everyone’s brain is wired up to instantly understand codes and symbols and that prop wasn’t particularly obvious as being a ham.
@@MandyCaneLane Years ago, there was a shop not far from me called Sk8s. Not many people got that either.
@CycolacFan let's put it this way. No-one at Bletchley Park is losing any sleep over her talents.
Ah, the time honoured tradition of English people confusing the Nordic countries with Germany! Haha!
Yes, it sounded way more German 😂
To me it sounded Dutch! 😅😅
@@MandyCaneLane I was thinking mostly of the outfit 😅
@@MandyCaneLane The name was German, and he said Nein whereas in Sweden we say Nej (nay)
@@MandyCaneLane Dutch may still be closer than Swedish.😂
Part of the joke was the 'educational' series the BBC used to broadcast, that showed adults learning a foreign language, with very similar acting styles and scenes to 'In the restaurant'
Believe it or not, the late great Bob Hoskins first acting role on tv was an 'educational' series that featured him as an Adult that was just learning to read and write
On The Move. I remember it well. I even remember the theme tune. Yup, that's how old I am! 😁
@@RocksterOO1 They did various educational type programs, that one sticks in my memory, I don't remember watching the complete series just the odd one, maybe because Hoskins was in it, that's why I remember.
@@chrisjones2224 Yeah, same here!
Look up “Tickle your botty with a feather madam” (particularly grotty weather we’re havin’). Classic communication play on words by the Ronnies. Hilarious!
Will do!
Always genius stuff from The Two Ronnies. Brilliant wordplay. They are national treasures in the UK just like Morecambe and Wise.
I would love for a reaction channel to react to any of the short Laurel & Hardy films (20mins) like Brats or Twice Two.
For me these are the funniest comedy duo to ever have walked the planet.
Oh, I am very interested Rusty! Are they on UA-cam?
I love Laurel and Hardy, they are almost forgotten to the young generation.
Some of my favorites are the WW1 and Inheritance shorts, can't remember the titles.
Ollie's iconic look to the camera gets me everytime 😂
RUSTYYYY!!! I just found your "incentive" haha. Thank you very much brother and sure thing! You got it! Will record it and put it out as soon as I can! 🤗🌈🌸
Yes Mandy... The Two Ronnies were Giants of Comedy... Some of their sketches were so intricate and so cleverly thought out too... Sadly i don't think we'll ever see their kind again in the world of comedy... But they left us all with a legacy of their Comedy Gold to enjoy... Thanks to them we can laugh at all of their comedy sketches forever... RIP Ronnie Barker OBE... RIP Ronnie Corbett CBE... God Jul Mandy... (Merry Christmas in Swedish & Norwegian)... 😂 😉👌👍🎅🎄☃❄🎁
If I understood correctly, God Jul Rick!! 🤗🌈🌸☃️
Ronnie Barker would write a lot of the sketches under the alias Gerald Wiley
You said in the end that we all had learned Swedish now, but the professor started out clarifying that it all would be said in Norwegian.🙃
I am Norwegian, but I had a very hard time understanding this😳, so I think we all might have been scammed here.😜
Hahahaha, it wasn't that easy! That is for sure!
In his comical Swedish accent he actually said “ It is in your region. “
I have used MNX once. I was on a Eurostar train and i noticed Ham and Eggs on the breakfast menu so when asked for my choice I said MNX and got the ham and eggs
Never been to Sweden 🇸🇪 however my favourite band Roxette come from there…their hits include It Must Have Been Love, Listen To Your Heart and Joyride. This sketch is fantastic, thank you
I have actually never heard of Roxette.. maybe I should give them a listen!
@@MandyCaneLane sadly Marie passed away, however Per who wrote all the songs is still busy. Very popular in South America and great live
Eventually I worked out that he said “it is in your region.”
Hi Mandy, in the U.K. The Two Ronnies Xmas show along with The Morecambe & Wise Xmas Show, were staples for a good family Xmas for many years. They monopolised the Tv viewing public, especially as we only had 3 channels at the time. Both Comedy Duo`s are sadly missed but luckily they left a wonderful legacy.
Hi! Thank you for explaining! 🤗
When this was shown, one Saturday back in 1975, the following Monday at school, we were all trying this out.
Hahaha, I can totally imagine that! 🤗
For Sweden, head East North-East for 3748 miles then take a left after Great Britain heading North East for 950 miles....🤣🤣
Honestly, as a native speaker I am totally impressed with any non native speaker who could work this out all :-)
One of my favourite Two Ronnies sketches was when they were two train drivers and they used the names of stations to mean other things.
How does one find that one? 👀
@MandyCaneLane probably on a DVD collection. It's certainly not on UA-cam.
@@MandyCaneLane ua-cam.com/video/aOyeOIIEkMI/v-deo.htmlsi=2KvOjOvckzPMpdEP
Your first voice was superb. Keep it going!
Excellent reaction , The full film comedy is on UA-cam try 'Square peg Round hole' Norman Wisdom
It would be interesting to see your take and reaction on British class system of the day inverted. As well your good at hearing picking up accents , Norman plays the down trodden small man and shows up the British class system as was and in some areas still is.
Well thank you very much Harpo! 🤗🤗
They were dressed as Germans and spoke like Germans! I could never find anything Swedish :) But it was fun anyway!
I'm relatively fluent in Swedish and all I can say is that this is Danish babble. Do not confuse us with them.
PT - that was a 30 second delayed reaction, so funny 😂😂 glad your feeling well again Mandy 😊
My gears kept turning! 😅😅😅
PT? you got there before i did 😂Ronnie Corbet (the little guy) used to do monologues in these shows - basically telling a 'dad joke' but in a very drawn out, 'round the houses' kind of way which was quite funny. their 'finales' at the end of the show were brilliant and well worth checking out.
Haha, thank you Clifford! 🤗
The ‘Four Candles’ sketch is probably their most famous & popular sketch
Yup! I have seen it! 🤗
@@MandyCaneLane just found it on your channel 👍
LOL, that was fun! I don't know why they thought Swedish was German with a weird accent though, but ok xD
Lmao, right? I also though it was more Dutch, but oh well 🤷🏻♀️
Good aren't they? Geniuses.
Four Candles, You’ll like that
I have seen it! 🤗
I want the sound of your laughter to be my phones ringtone.
You would get sick of it very quick! 😂😂
Widely regarded as the greatest British comedians of all time (some would argue for Morecambe and wise but) but for me these two were head and shoulders the best. You should try to find some of their songs, which they were legendary for
You should react to Scottish voice recognition lift. You will laugh for sure.
Ohh, that sounds fun! Thank you Anto! 🤗
My Dad would watch the 2 Ronnie's religiously, I never personally found it funny. However, I preferred them as individuals, and I loved Ronnie Barker in Porridge and in open all hours.
I know these are well loved, especially with the older generation.
Mandy, has anyone ever mentioned you would have a great voice for radio?
Though, whenever said you are more suited to radio, it sounds like a vanity dig. Lol
No other reactor has the ability to keep me entertained, even when the clips ain't my thing.
Xx merry Xmas.
Lol, working on the radio actually sounds like fun! But I actually think I would make a great gps voice 😅😅😅
@@MandyCaneLane in 300 yards, turn left.
Thats like spanish inqusition lol love the ronnies mandy more plz mick xx
Nobody expects that!
Will do Mick! 🤗
I've never understood the title of this sketch: surely it's "English made simple" ?
Love your channel 💙🇬🇧
Thank you William! 🤗
Thanks Mandy, never seen this
🤗🤗
Z isn't cheating - 'You zed you eff ex' sounds like 'you said you have eggs'.
I know, it was a joke 😂😅
I had no clue what they were saying till you said Ham and Eggs lol My brain no work today
Hahahhaa, did the cold freeze it? Or did you get the bird flu? 😮
@@MandyCaneLane 🤣🤣 Neither, my boss at the sanctuary's car got stuck in the mud today, so me and him spent like 1 and a half hours trying to dig it out.. we failed haha
@@animalcharitychannel Oh no!! 😅😅😅
the VFN10EM we haven't' any ham
Two Ronies, the best ever,
This was another sketch I really liked. I was like you to start with regarding the letters. I am very happy to say you got it. I would like to correct you on one point. The British Pronunciation is correct the American is wrong. You will not believe what I am going to tell you but there is enough proof of it on UA-cam. The People who REALLY RUN America, not the Government or Politicians, wanted the American Children and Students to be not very Intelligent. The Education System was changed to make that happen. If you want proof of that type in, 'What is the dumbest thing an American has ever said to you - Part 1'. There are a few Parts. 🤐😴
FFS.
Lol, I was kidding about the 'zed' thing being cheating 🤪
Zed isn't wrong its just English and has been forever, its the USA-ians who decided to mess up the pronunciation.
I never said it was wrong, (I think) I was just joking about it
@@MandyCaneLane Me to, just messin, I find it fun messin with USA-ians (some of them try reading the comments even though English confuses them lol). When they say I'm an American I like to say oh which part Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Guatamala, Panama, Bolivia, Chile, USA, Columbia etc?
Bottom left, two in. The Squash Match!
I struggled with some of that too (handy when you went back over it, especially PT).
Needless to say the Swedes (Scandinavians generally) speak excellent English anyway - probably better than my English most of the time.
It wasn't as simple as they claimed! 😅😅
If you fancy clever wordplay as comedy - and I do - The Two Ronnies are definitely the place to go. My favourite Ronnie Barker quote: "The marvelous thing about a joke with a double meaning is that it can only mean one thing"
😂😂
It's actually easier not to look at the subtitles! 😆
I think you might be right!! 😅😅
Surely at some stage we have used these words in a sentence "pity city titty"?
All of us? Maybe! 😅😂
Watching your videos is always a daily highlight ✨️ are you feeling all better now?
I am feeling fantastic! Thank you for asking!!! 🤗🤗🤗
@@MandyCaneLane happy days then 🙂
Fun with letters! :) But, was the (usual) Sweden/Switzerland mixup intentional?
I don't think so 🤭
Always love your 'Two Ronnies' reactions and I'm sure "The Bureau of Mispronunciation" is on your 'to do list' - but I hope you do react to it 'as sign as pissable'.
Lol!
They did 11 series over 16 year's and a few Christmas specials to
That is a LOT!! 😅😅
@@MandyCaneLane you should watch some of the songs sketches they did. There so funny the one I remember most is the one where there dressed in Morris dancing gear. But you could pick anything. Ronnie Barker's writing for all things was so spot on.
@@sliverwolf1992 Cool suggestions! Thank you!!
@@MandyCaneLane no problem, you should also watch The Phantom Raspberry Blower Of Old London Town one of the funniest series that was apart of the show that I love. It's so silly it daft. From the opening titles each week to the closing ones pure silliness.
My first recommendation:
Only Fools & Horses, the Poker scene
Thank you! 🤗
@@MandyCaneLane v=ye59owHDkpQ (Best version without spoilery title)
6:18 more nuance YFUNEX said in the tone of a dalek, an alien creature from Doctor Who with "Exterminate!" being their catch phrase. It was fun watching the cogs in your brain turn slowly, but surely round and round. Not so ZZA? 😝
Not so Zed Zed A? 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane Divided by a common language 🤗
Brilliant.
Agreed! 🙌🏻
you need to react to the mispronunciation sketch when you get the chance, if you haven't already
Will the English ever get the difference between Sweden and Germany? 🤷🏼♀️
I didn't get this one, but your laughter is contagious. ✌️💖
It was tough to get! 🤗
Swedish? That's German.
Its Dutch actually. Double Dutch.
@@annother3350 I had to Google as I didn't understand your comment. Brilliant, I have a new way to insult Germans thanks to you. :)
Check out their Argentian racing pidgeon skit.
Already have Stuart! 🤗
@@MandyCaneLane I must have watched it then.🙄 Must be my age memory's not what it was.😉
I don't know what you meant by using Z is cheating? How so
It was a joke because you guys say "zed" 🤪
@Mandy Cane Lane Yes, that's because we speak English. . I don't know Dutch zee
I couldn't understand a letter of that.
🤭
How many counties have the letter zee? One, or two, is it ? Well, it must have been cheating !
Mandy, I would love to see your reaction to Ali G Interviews Victoria & David Beckham, so funny..,
I'm pretty sure that's a German accent not a Nordic accent
It reminded me of Dutch 😅
Definitely an exaggerated German accent. A thick Swedish accent tends to sound a bit silly in a different way to German.
The Scandinavian languages are softer than the German language, which makes them differ a fair bit from each other sound wise.
Still wondering why little Ronny is dressed as an Austrian, but its funny and you have to put in some effort to get it all right
It was a tough at times! 😅😅
It's a ZED. x
Yes
L.O. M.N.D!
L.O.!! 🤗
Pretty Vacant?🥺
Zed isn't cheating! It's zed in English and zee in American English 🤓
Haha, it was a joke! 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane "O" 🥴
@@MantisEnergy Lol, nobody understood I was kidding! 🤭
Interesting sketch but they seem to have confused Swedish with German.
Yeah! It also reminded me of Dutch but oh well, still fun! 🤪
This is one of the more painful Two Ronnies sketches. I'm glad you survived it!
Haha, I liked it, but it was a gear turner! 😅😅
5:55 Slight correction... it's _you_ guys who say "zee" instead of "zed" ;)
Lmao, but I am me and you guys are not 🤪
Skits like this completely lose dummies like me, who, once they actually get into the skit itself, folks like me only see letters and numbers instead of what they're trying to say. You had to rewind to understand. They completely lost me. I got what they meant when they said the words were in that form, but I get completely lost in translation once they execute it. It's just a bunch of letters to me. So, you finally understood it all after rewinding a few times, but I could rewind ten million times and not understand a thing. :(
The guy was basically ordering food saying things like:
Do you have any eggs?
Do you have any ham?
And the responses were like:
Yes, we have ham.
Yes, we have eggs.
To make a long sketch short 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane 😂Thanks.
And while I have the chance, merry Christmas.
Is too British an actual thing? 😂
Lol 😂😂
L.O.!
That's all I got.
😂😂😂
interesting, the ZED was cheating? you have never heard a british person pronounce the letter Z also australians, new zealand and i think canadians too, never seen men in black?the US is pretty much alone with ZEE, I think it was changed to make that awful alphabet song scan better.
Lol, it was a joke! Apparently not a good one because nobody understood 😅😅
