I have listened to several vocal coaches do reactions... they say that his high tones are in his natural head voice, with back of palette open, and not falsetto (like The BeeGees). Falsetto, as the name suggests, is making a false high voice, where the high notes are made by unnaturally tightening at the back of your soft palette. You can try yourself and see how it feels.
He just has an incredibly high natural voice, without resorting to falsetto like most men with deeper voices would need to.
In any case, we love our Shen Shen.
You should look for the video of him singing this song in his hotel room, on his knees next to the bed, using his iphone earpiece wrapped in toilet paper as his mic. You can see how perfect his singing is with no sound system, sound technicians, no stage set up and flashy lights.
And his humble friendly character, not wanting to disappoint his fans when time cut the program short, livestreaming from his room.
