I just got the scorcher and I absolutely love it. My favorite gun by far, just wish it had like 5 extra rounds in each mag then it’d be perfect

Laser Cannon shreds tanks and the emplacements. If u can hit the stream on a hulks eye from the front for about 2-3 seconds it will also kill them. A must have on automaton missions now
Iv been running the LC since the buff vs bots. Feels good.
Auto-cannon and AT cannon are also great against autamatons.

Scorcher shreds Spore Spewers with like 4-5 shots, which is just another huge plus on top. I'm in love with it since I unlocked it and it was easily worth the grind. With higher difficulty missions I had it quicker than I expected when I first looked at the required amount of medals.
Yes spore spewers the one thing that couldn't be dealt with till you got this gun unlocked. I think the only people worse than this guy are the ones that take his videos serious
I think it takes like 2 impact grenades or 2 grenades from the launcher to do the trick

I find that the scorcher does really well against the automaton flakpanzer if you splash the shots next to the weakspot. You don't even need to really hit it you can shoot the back part of it's turet from the front and it will blow up.
It may not be the best gun in the game but it’s still pretty damn good and is great at certain things like sniping spore spewers, destroying egg clusters and taking out striders.
Since I unlocked it I haven’t used another gun, not even the breaker.
absolutely love the PLAS-1, it‘s really good against bots, it can take down the shredder tank if you shoot at it‘s turret

@@acidnine3692 gotta hit the side shields or sides on the shredder tank, just not the quad guns, hit the shields protecting them, it damages it. after a PLAS-1 magazine it should go down

it was annoying getting used to the small magazine size but once i played few on robot planets i really love the utility
from what I can tell enemies have armour points like our suits do so we have unlisted pen rating on weapons, that's why some light pen weapons seem like they can pen medium. They actually can't it's more what people thought was medium was at the edge of light armour vs medium.
I think it might be raw damage output. Which makes sense.
White hitmarker means youre doing reduced damage but penetrating the armor, red hitmarker means you’re penetrating the armor and/or doing full damage
Love running this gun with an Anti Material Rifle vs bots. Very fun loadout.
aiming at the bugs heads kills them with just a few shots with every armor penetrating weapon. only go for the green "weak spots" if you cant land hits on the heads. the armor takes about 60% of the weapon damage away, but the damage bonus for headshots is significantly higher. nurse spitter bug takes 17 shots to the side to go down, but only 8 to the head despite its head is armored. i cant remember what weapon it was but in the vid the guy ran tests with just a few.
I love this thing. It tears appart everything, use the laser watchdog and your just fine in every mission.

This thing is amazing, I dont have it yet but everytime my brother (which has it) dies, I go to his body to pick it up. Lol I use the slugger now and this is against the bugs.
You can also take out those towers with the arc thrower, but getting it to actually HIT the tower is so annoying that I tend to try literally anything else first
I bet it’ll get a bigger mag when the game implements weapon upgrades. It’s fine for now, but it would be awesome if it had ~20 rounds. So awesome for bots though, since it generally 2 shots scout striders, and for bugs it mops up eggs insanely fast since it destroys around 4 eggs per shot, and can kill chargers with ass shots easily
The Autocannon cannon can take down all Automaton types from the weak spots at minimum. AA turrets, Cannon turrets, Tanks, Hulks, a single high or low shot on the front of a walker. It might not have the highest armor penetration of any weapon in the game, but on the level of versatility it gets the job done with the only downside being your backpack slot being taken up. And obviously not being a primary.
auto cannon rocks, but when I had this gun I pretty much only used it to take out outposts and tanks/cannons if I happened to see their weak spot from range. this gun has so much less recoil and pretty much has the same effect on striders and devastators.
This video made me realize I need to give more love to the jetpack
I bought the Heavy armor Dreadnought, tryed the dominator since it fits the armor somewhat. I actually liked it, sure scorcher is ait better and my go to weapon. But Dominator was a nice change and did the job pretty good, also the heavy armor feels better than light now, when i play light armor i die way more times, not sure how the muschle enchantment effects heavy armors, it makes you run faster so im not sure how much faster you run in heavy A.
Im saving my medals for the new warbond this thursday. Already use auto cannon for the distance dmg so I want a new cool shotgun for close dmg.
I didn’t look at it as much but since I capped medals I went ahead and got it. What a beast, it will kill you tho if you’re shooting too close
The scorcher is quite nice when paired with the laser cannon support weapon. Laser cannon helps keep the ammo consumption down, and the scorcher kills chargers quicker than the cannon. Against bots its a murderer. Very good oh shit weapon imo.
why does it say light armor penetration though? Just an error on description?
I wonder if scorcher is able to deal goos damage is because maybe the AoE is bypassing armor and/or hitting the weakspots for extra damage?
Laser cannon can take down those emplacements easily

Cool, just unlocked it and haven't used it yet. I am a big slugger fan, sounds like this things could replace it.
I remember when I first booted the game it showed a total number with each of the categories of weapon types. Not sure if anyone else saw it but for primaries it was 1/28, secondaries 1/8, and grenades was like 1/10 or 1/11. Anyone else came across this on the first few days of the game? Played on PS5.
Edit: If anyone else can confirm this, i would appreciate it. Honestly though the implications concerning this means that the warbonds of the game are probably already coded in the game as are the rest of the weapons.
scorcher and railgun or arc thrower combo is pretty godlike for bots. I always make the scorcher my choice for bots, and go shotguns for bugs.
i like slugger way more then breaker and vs robots my favorite weapon is still the Diligence.
Sniping enemys over such a far distance and also headshotting some of the bigger once is just so nice
Just as an FYI, the real weak spot on the Nursing/Bile spewers is their head, the rear sack is not a weak spot, it's just unarmored on the sides so there's no damage reduction for explosives
As a side note, for bots, the Anti materiel rifle is ABSOLUTELY NUTS, it can 3 shot hulks with headshots and oneshot everything else, as well as break scout striders with 3 shots from the front. It can also kill all the tanks, cannon turrets, anti-air artillery and everything else with shots to the exposed vent.
I believe the Dominator should technically be able to do the same thing, but I haven't tested that personally
Domintaor absolutely kills everything to the point where I have stopped running a support weapon. Was a railgun user, but got tired of trying to fight through the horde to retrieve my railgun, when the dominator can take out all enemy types.
Although the railgun can 1 shot hulks with a full charge to the face vs about 3-4 from the dominator.

amen. I've tried to go meta, but I feel like im forever out of ammo on the shotguns. Haven't unlocked scorcher yet to have an opinion, but dominator is good enough that I don't need a support weapon and I haven't seen any meta user say the same.@@ivanfranebijelic7009

Raging, have you noticed that the Scorcher is less effective after this recently patch? I'm noticing that I can't pen a lot more of the bug armor that I used to be able to even one night before the patch dropped. Am I imagining things or can you confirm that yes it was changed?
I used it just yesterday and didn't notice a difference, but I will look into this further since I only used it for 2 matches in testing with shrieker nests.
@ragingreaper1190 thanks man, don't mean to give you work but with how Arrowhead likes to change things outside of the change logs, I just wanted to make sure. Could just be placebo effect and it's nothing but figured I'd ask a professional.
You can mitigate the explosive damage at close range (and not incidentally save yourself from enduring a lot of accidental team kills) by wearing the Exterminator armor.
It's medium armor, so no penalty to movement or stamina, but it also has the Fortified perk, which is usually reserved for heavy armor and reduces explosive damage by half.
You can get ridiculously close to airstrikes etc. in battle, while taking little or no damage.
As an added bonus cool effect, when you have a close call and it mitigates explosive damage, smoke rises from the armor for a second or two.
Though honestly, that might be universal, seeing as how I haven't worn anything else since I got it, because I typically run crowd control with a grenade launcher, working at close range.
I always like things that go boom and the Scorcher is a good option against the bots, but is largely incompatible with my playstyle and preferred role.
It just doesn't have the speed or clip size I need to smash back a massed charge of smaller enemies, like I could do with the Breaker Spray & Pray, for instance.
As I said, I typically run a grenade launcher for crowd control, especially in the higher-level difficulties, so close-quarters and point-blank usage of explosives doesn't bother me in the least.
The problem is, the scorcher just lacks punch against melee units, especially. I can point a Breaker, or Breaker Spary & Pray at the spot just under the 'ribcage' of a chainsaw bot and literally cut it in half with a couple of shots.
Try that crap with a Scorcher and it won't even slow them down.
Scorcher deals with Berserkers exceptionally well. I usually kill ~3 with one magazine. I think that's because of the bonus damage to weakpoints, and the lower torso of Berserkers counts as one.
Actually like the Dominator with 30% stability armor more. Great against a lot of heavy targets and can be run as main for everything except super heavy targets.
Can you cover the Jar-5
I like the Dominator as it can one shot devstators and medium bugs but it is very unwieldy and hard to get them shots off
and you don't have to worry about self-harm for shooting things close to you wtih it!
nonesense I run an average of 75% accuracy with the dominator. Use the FPV and make sure your laser is in your ACOG and you won't miss. Switch to burst from semi and 1 trigger pull kills most enemies.
My question is, do I grind for The Scorcher or the Dominator? Dominator seems easier to get given how much lower the medal requirement is but I don't know, still a ways off of both and next week is the content drop, I just feel I'll be behind forever.
@@hawk9mm try and do your daily challenges to speed up the medal grind. I personally prefer the dominator, when you understand what it can kill quick and what it can’t it’s epic, and have a separate option for killing chaff (sidearm, grenades or machine gun maybe). Treat it more of a heavy hitter than a primary weapon.
Scorcher is nice but that aoe effect can cause havok if you’re not careful
@@Bishop1664Yeah that's what I was thinking, the sell harm thing to me are just so annoying. Far too many things in this game cause either self-harm or knockback/stagger and I'm just not interested in a weapon that I have to be overly careful with that's NOT an anti-take weapon or something.
Been doing my dailies, I'm still waiting to get my 2 weekly "bounties" for the past 2 major orders, so I'm a bit pissed that I'm still out of basically 100 medals.
I tend to stick to difficulty 4 and maybe 5, I've done a few 7 but right now it's really no fun for me so I just stick to what I know I can manage but to my detriment because of how resources are dolled out in this game.
I had just watched a video on the two MGs and saw a build idea that sounded fun, MG with Dominator as more of a damage dealer then have AT call downs. I'm still only on the 1st page of the Paid season pass so I've got a ways to go. Thanks for the tip though man, I appreciate it.
If you have the explosive reduction perk on it is does not kill you in a single hit. With heavy armor maybe 2-3

the anti-material riffle punches through EVERY weak point the robots have, usually in just a couple of shots (yes even the tanks and turrets); gotta say i watch these videos in utter confusion at how many content creators sleep on that weapon. it's to the point i no longer even select the railgun (ever since it's nerf) because the anti-material riffle is better in like 90% of situations now. you can actually shot the heads of the robots on the walkers from the front, or shoot them through that little slit in the armor of those walkers if you are too low to see the top of their chrome domes. furthermore the riffle 100% will kill any bot who has a heat vent weakness on their back (yes including the mortars, devastators and tanks)
about the only foe the riffle falls off and becomes a worse option against (compared to the railgun in unsafe mode) is against chargers and biotitans. however, you can deal lethal damage to both with the anti-material riffle by aiming at the fleshy underbellies, so if you're not a hurry to bring them down, it usually only takes half a mag to start either bleeding out. the problem is both have so many hps, their deaths can take minutes. you're actually probably better off using a few mags of your shotgun to destroy their butts, that usually will cause either to bleed out much faster, or in the charger's case, once you see a stripped leg (stripped of it's armor) it only takes one shot from the anti-material riffle to kill it (by blowing the leg off)

I have not noticed the railgun being nerfed at all. I have always used it in unsafe mode and try to get each shot to 100% before firing. 1 hits almost everything, takes no more then 4 shots for anyything else.
Although after playing on bot planets limiting us to 3 strats, I have actually ditched support weapons altogether and use just my Liberator Dominator, 500KG, Orbital Laser, and 380mm barrage.
Dominator can kill anything in a mag as long as you have good aim. I can kill turrets accross the map, hulks are a few shots to the face or a mag to the back, same with tanks. But usually I just drop a laser or 500KG on them and keep on moving.
The AM rifle is excellent vs bots for sure. Has been my go-to for solo 7-9 difficulty missions long before the nerf to railguns. Versatile enough to deal with all enemy types, decent ammo capacity, and great synergy with stealth playstyles making it a really solid choice for both team and solo play. There are only two things I dislike about it, first and foremost, the reticle is complete ass. Obstructs too much and gives the weapon a much steeper learning curve than it should probably have. Second, I wish you could change zeroing distance while ADSing. I don't like having to stop aiming -> hold R -> scroll to change it -> aim again. I just want to be aiming at something, click a button, and be zeroed at 200 meters. TLDR; it's amazing just force yourself to learn the clunky scope
The auto cannon can do the same with more ammo and stagger.

stop sleeping on the SPEAR dude. the spear is amazing, i just hope they adjust the targeting system on it because it can be finicky.
The scorcher paired with the guard dog rover is where it’s at against the bugs.
I like when the rover consistently damages me and my teamates throughout missions

Love the gun but am annoyed when I am firing over cover and it splash kills me. Feels unpredictable, especially when aiming down sights.
The laser cannon can destroy cannon turrents or tanks within 3 seconds when your hitting the vent!

I find it to be great against the bugs, but hate it against the bots. I feel like it just doesn't damage berserkers/devestators enough. I'm not emptying half a mag per bot into them when 9 are chasing me. Probably going to go back to the slugger against bots.
Scorcher + Stalwart against bugs is an amazing combo.
Unless it was a fever dream I had luck punching threw the weak spots with the JAR-5 Dominator. Blew up a tower and that smaller shredder tank.

yeah once i got the scorcher. i was able to control the field on the robots side of the game.. the bugs ill stick with the punisher still.

I have to say, I used it in a few lvl 4 bot missions, and I don't see what all the hype is about. By comparison to the slugger, it only seems to fully outahine it against striders and I guess some of the heavy enemies, but that's why I carry anti-tank weapons with me.
Even against heavy devastators it only takes one well placed shot with the slugger, and even if you don't hit it right, you could still nail it in the shoulder, causing it to drop it's guard and halt the suppressing fire. From there you just stunlock it. Same with berserkers. Also the slugger seems to get all its ammo back from a single ammo box, while the scorcher only replenishes 1/3rd.
Double the mag size or double the damage. Just my 2 cents.

next warbond has a sniper with medium armor penetration so counter sniper will likely not get buffed
You can actually scorcher magdump the shredder tank's turret - not the heatsink. You can just hit it anywhere on the turret and it will die. I wonder if they done goofed and reversed the armour values for the shredder's heatsink and turret body.

I am about 65 warbond medals away from getting the scorcher, its been a hell of a ride haha i would have had it a lot sooner but i went down the steeled veteran warbond first
i did both, expensive shit first. makes it easyr for the mind. If you buy the guns you get close to unlocking the page ahead over the next page you face

The trick with the Scorcher is not wasting its ammo on smaller enemies. Use the Redeemer or nades to clear out trash and reserve the Scorcher ammo for bigger targets.
why is this gun better than slugger?
Scorcher has splash damage, magazine reloads, and consistent damage without dropoff at range - all factors the Slugger misses out on, while the Slugger still has less per shot damage. I like the slugger too but I feel like the Scorcher is more versatile.

It shreds bugs with heavy armor it feels safe to take risky shots
The ark thrower kills everything.
Sickle easily takes out weak spots on towers, tanks and back of hulks.
The Dominator also does damage to tank and turret weakspots.
does damage to their not weak spots as well. Explosive damage ignores armor. Just works faster with the weak spots.
The scorcher can shoot the walkers in the upper half of their main front armor and will kill it in 2 to 3 shots.
funny as it sound vs the bots aim for the crotch, the splash tends to one hit the small ones and 2 hit the walkers. devastators you can disarm in like 2 hits, kill on the 3rd.

How long is the battle pass last
All warbonds will be available for the entire lifespan of the game, so they will never leave as more get implemented.
For Bots I run the Laser Cannon and the Laser Rifle plus Rover. Havent met a bot group I could not take down yet.
Yes playing on low level that build will work perfect, level 9 I will have to spam reinforce you

But I had no issue with this build on Helldive.
it's crazy to me how so many just keep saying to increase its ammo economy...I get that the ammo economy of this thing BARELY isn't the best, but for what the weapon is, being one of the very few primaries that can actually punch through medium armor easily, take down elites/Spewers with ease and capable of bursting Charger's butt in pretty darn good speed (15ish shots), not to mention is INSANE against bots...I think having SLIGHTLY bad ammo economy is not at all a bad way to balance it (that and the AoE self dmg). in Helldive, I usually run Machine Gun with the Scorcher, it makes up what what the Scorcher lacks, sometimes Flamethrower/Arcthrower/Stalwart.
I run it the same. The scorcher works like a lite support weapon. Less ammo but very useful against some special enemies. It’s not as flashy as others but eh. Let’s me run stalwart like a primary and scorcher as a support. Feels more flexible, tools for certain jobs
With how many enemies are in the game 15 rounds isn’t enough at all.
@@SeudXe it would be nice if it had a little extra ammo in a mag. But the amount of damage it can do is very solid for a primary.
Bots specifically I like running scorcher, redeemer, and spear + EATs. Bugs, if I want to use scorcher, I’ll swap spear for stalwart.
Scorcher handles bots very well. Surprisingly handles hulks (with shots to its back weak point) and medium (devastator) bots pretty well.
@@SeudXe It's not meant to be used a horde-clear weapon, it's meant for dispatching elites really fast and it does really well at that. Even so, I'd say it's very decent at dealing with big groups occasionally, with its AoE explosion and all, you can take out multiple enemies as once if they're grouped up.
Plus, it's a primary weapon, we're not supposed to be able to clear the entire game with JUST them alone.
In my experience it takes a full magazine of scorcher to take down a bot artillery turret, idk if that helps but just throwing it out there

Liberator Penetrator and Dominator take out ALL enemy types. Smalls are 1 round, mediums are 3-4 rounds, and heavy's are about a mag with the dominator. No need to hit weak spots with the explosive damage.
Dominator outplays it in every way for me.
I can hear it being added to the patch notes as we speak.
Gonna give the scorcher less ammo to make it more in line with the other weapons? We don't want primaries feeling too good.
just run it with the eradicator armor for explosive resist
The grind is not that hard.
You spend some on Steeled Veterans for Breaker Incendiary.
You can get Cutting Edge for Stun Grenade.
I also got Democratic Detonation because the Eruptor was fun.
But after that you can spend everything on the base warbond.
That ice stuff and the latest paint warbond are underwhelming.
The scorcher is definitely worth it. You just have to have some idea of how to put a build together.
FYI: you can still one shot devastators with a headshot with the scorcher….
Bruh I’m telling you people are still sleeping on the Arc thrower & laser guard dog combo no other weapon in the game gets me 600-700+ kills every dive has unlimited ammo no reload no overheat mechanic and completely ignores all armor you have 1-2 rail gunners to help kill chargers quicker (tbh you don’t even need them the AT can do it solo) with 2-3 Arc throwers you will never be overrun by chaff enemies I was actually able to use heavy armor that one with the 200+ armor rating that tanks like 4-5 charger hits because I don’t have to run so much anymore all you have to do is be mindful of your teammates so you don’t arc them so just make a firing line and move together

Grenade Launcher is the best gun in the game hands down..
You know, wife with 1 slight downside wich you know and understand, is way better than a perfect trophy wife.

Everyone is saying it needs more ammo. Personally I would definitely enjoy maybe +5 rounds, but honestly I think it's perfect just the way it is. Buffing it's ammo or damage would just make it TOO good, and then you'd get another situation like the breaker pre-nerf where everyone uses it because its simply "the best". I don't think the developers should touch it, either with nerfs or buffs, I think it fits perfectly with their game balance philosophy
I think it should be a BIT better. Something like 3 rounds or 1 mag.
The scorcher needs a better scope and atleast 1 more mag of ammo.
