The Issue With The Gen Kick META

- This has to be one of the most dull metas to exist in Dead By Daylight, but why is it dull? What can we do to change it?

More about Dead By Daylight:
A group of up to four survivors must elude one killer. The survivors' perspectives are third-person, while the killer's perspective is first-person. The survivors cannot fight against the killer and can only survive by running away and evading them. They must use obstacles in the form of wooden pallets, windows, and items that they either find inside chests or bring before the match starts to run from the killer for as long as they can. In order to escape, survivors must repair 5 generators scattered across the entire map to power the exit gates, then they must open the exit gates and leave the area themselves or find a hatch to jump into.

I never realized incapacitated was an effect with other killers (twins and cenobite) because there's an action to get rid of it, crushing victor or freeing yourself from the chains.
Incapacitated on Eruption being so long with zero counter to it like twins or cenobite is a massive oversight and problem.
Also I was going for adept nemesis and my zombie activated eruption when he downed someone. That seems a bit problematic, just a bit
I really enjoy this style video with casual gameplay in the background. I think my favorite meta was the Ruin/Pop meta. My issue now is a killer can hold a 3 gen even with 4 players, making it a strategy they can implement from the start, rather than to try and turn a game around after they've already killed a survivor
Solid ideas/points! I've thought a bit on my own here and also combined your thoughts as well to further brainstorm a little:
Eruption: I think changing Incapacitated as an effect would be a good start, like maybe making it only affect gens. I think the only things you can do currently are pick up pallets and unhook survivors. Additionally with this change I'd still like to see it reduced to maybe 15 seconds. 25 in solo queue is just a morale destroyer, but with the effect changes at least it would encourage a survivor to do something else if available rather than nothing.
Call of Brine: I like your idea of needing to injure a survivor to gain the ability. I think maybe if it was similar to STBFL, you can earn up to 8 stacks by injuring/downing and you lose one (or maybe two) each time you kick a gen. I think leaving the 200% is okay with that idea, as well as the skillcheck knowledge aspect.
Overcharge: I'm not sure just making it base of 100% makes the perk even worth running whether the two above perks are changed or not. Even now it mostly only punishes newer survivors, or will catch experienced survivors off guard if it's super early on the circle. I think I'd like to keep it at 150% regression, but what if it had a shorter Merciless Storm effect. Instead of one really hard skillcheck you get say 3 that are maybe slightly easier to hit, each skillcheck could be worth 5% regression of the total progress on the gen. So if you hit the first two, but miss the third, it only regresses 5%, but if you mess up and miss the first that's a whole 15%.
I would just really like to see this meta get changed sooner rather than later. Nothing is more exhausting than game after game of going against this.
you got some massive rizz for making this video, also the meta change ideas are pixChefskiss
I honestly don’t think eruption is the issue. I personally think Eruption and overcharge should just go back to their original designs. I don’t think the incapacitated status should be removed. Especially in the current survivor meta, time is everything and so crucial to winning. It’s a killer perk to help the killer buy more time, and I don’t think 25 seconds is all that bad. It’s part of the back and forth of the match.
But COB needs a heavy nerf as it is too powerful especially in combination with other kicking perks. There were a lot of generator perks that got unnecessarily buffed in 6.1.0. Just revert them.
But at the same time I don’t believe Gen progression or regression perks should be able to stack either. The issue isn’t always a singular perk it’s the combination of perks. I think it’d be interesting if certain perks couldn’t be paired.
My favorite build uses nowhere, but no other gen perks.
Actually, I lie. Uses tinkerer, but that doesn't actually effect the gen.
I'd much rather the survivor side be chases and trying to make saves instead of gen rushing robots
Agree 100 percent! I used to run Brine and it would cause gameplay to be so long especially in a 3 gen situation. I have said it for a while run perks that better your game play and knowledge. Gen perks like discordance and murmur. Learn how survivors move around the maps. Which gens, how they run after a pop, etc. Learn gen management not gen progression and slow down. Love the ideas and I would love to see these be the new meta one day. Just like anything things change and you just have to adapt to them and learn and better yourself as a player and member of the DBD community
#BringBackRuinMeta2023 lmao great video wisp!!
1st???
the problem is that committing to chases drastically punishes the killer. if I don't defend my 3 gen all the time I get gen rushed and steamrolled. it's not the Mets, it's punishing killers for what they're supposed to do: committing to chases
