2000+ miles into my new limited Santa Cruz and I have to say, THIS THING IS AWESOME! I spent about 20 hours in research before purchasing mine in Somersworth, NH and its still more car/truck/SUV than I had expected. It’s a very luxurious sports car with tons of power... has the interior space and convenience of an SUV... as well as a super functional truck bed for most of your home, yard, work and play/hobbie/activity needs and tasks. Hyundai nailed it on this one. Everywhere I go this thing is snapping heads around. Great overall value. I highly recommend checking this thing out if your even moderately interested or even curious... you won’t be disappointed.
I have a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz after 2 years. It began to clunk out on me 2 days ago. I stopped at the store and came out the store crank the truck it act like tractor. I drift home strong exhaust smell. Currently, it's in the dealership with major problems I think.
I had a reservation in on a Maverick too - I've been a "Ford Guy" for more than 25 years and I have a Santa Cruz sitting in my garage right now. I think Peter is correct - Ford will sell a ton of Mavericks and Hyundai will do "okay" with the Santa Cruz - will it outsell SUVs and CUVs - probably not. I pretty much agree with Peter on the reasons he decided to buy and many of those reasons were mine too. BTW I traded my 2018 Ford F-150 5.0l XLT with a lot of options in on it. While there are a few things I "miss" about the F-150 I don't miss having to clear snow off in the winter because I can (easily) park the SC in the garage and that wasn't an option with the F-150.
Yeah, the Maverick will outsell the Santa Cruz, there’s no question about that. I don’t think that makes the Santa Cruz the lesser vehicle though. At least at the top end of the Santa Cruz lineup, it’s a LOT more vehicle than a Maverick. As I said in the video, some people think that, in order to like the one, you have to speak poorly about the other. I think they’re both great, but there’s no question that the Santa Cruz is better for me, it’s not even close for me. It also fits in my garage, and my previous Chevrolet Colorado crew cab long box didn’t.
The Maverick will win in sales mostly due to fleet use. It's more attractive as a parts runner truck or such, especially the cheap FWD version. Public utilities will probably pick up a ton of them as well.
I agree with you. I was a truck guy that did not really need a gas guzzling vehicle. I enjoy the comfort of this vehicle and the capability of it. And it gets double the MPG with twice the get up and go. I love it.
Any problems with those deeply recessed headlights???!!! Do they collect condensation under that lense? Does snow collect in that recessed area? Here in Maine we do get snow....that recessed area looks potentially problematic. . P.S... What's with the double tires on the front axle?
No to all your questions, we live in southeastern Idaho and get snow here to, maybe not as much as you do, and it drives great in the snow. Not sure what you are asking about double wheels though. Go read what road and track has to say about the Santa Cruz that was it for us buying ours! I really like the h track 4x4 system it works great in the ice and snow. I would tell anyone before you buy, go drive a Santa Cruz you will not be sorry that you did. We changed our mind after driving one, We where going to order a Ford maverick but two things helped us to buy our Santa Cruz, one it would take up to 18 months to get the ford and two the dealer wanted about $10,000.00 more than what I built it for on the ford web site! That turned me off, and that price adjustment kinda got me heated as well!
@@davdcarter8412 ... l don't blame you re: your "decision tree". About the double tire thing....at about @13:00 on the video....l had asked the question because : 1) l had never seen that done before on a smallish car.....and it seemed to me that dirt, salt etc. kicking up on the car's white paint job would be pretty corrosive ...... it would seem to me to be a "no go". BTW: l have an appointment tomorrow with a car dealer l've bought 4 cars from since 1983....will see if we can have "a meeting of the minds" on the price. I used to drive red Saab convertibles...3 of them....turbo ....5 speed manual/clutch pedal/ stick shift on floor. Still have one here.... but hard to get parts for them now. The dealer smiles & laughs everytime l pull into the dealership: we both know he gets about $500.00 of free advertising when l was in the city doing my chores & driving those Saabs convertibles around!!!! 🤣. He'd give me another convertible everytime l came to town for scheduled car service convertibles!!! Sure wish my Saab was still on the road!!! I'm still a good looking blonde!! 😊..... can't wait to try out a Santa Cruze tomorrow!!!! .
A massive Kudos to you in Brantford. I wondered if the Santa Cruz with the tonneau cover actually had the T-slot in the rail. I have watched 20 videos or more, including official videos from Hyundai and the most popular review sites. Nobody mentioned this at all! I actually became interested in the feature after I saw a Maverick with an aftermarket tonneau cover that had t-slots in the rail. In Canada, that aftermarket cover with rails will cost at least $3500. It makes a huge different in how functional the vehicle is from stock. So many rack options. Well done
Congrats on the purchase! Your videos provided a ton a great info about the SC for me while I was shopping around. Cool to see you liked it enough to buy one. I've ordered an Ultimate (Limited in the US) in sage grey with dark green Interior from Brantford Hyundai, and was also considering the Maverick and other mid-size trucks. I went with the SC for all the same reasons you list in the video. The SC has way more features and luxury for the same price as Maverick and looks way better to me. I agree however that it took me seeing one in person for me to even consider it, but once I drove it my choice was pretty clear. The other offerings out there just don't compare to this with the comfort and features available. Can't wait for the upcoming series on your new truck/car/SAV/whatever we're calling it. Hopefully they can hold me over until mine arrives.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching! Yeah seeing this in person, it's fantastic. I love the look in person MUCH more than in pictures. We'll have a lot more planned in the coming weeks, months, and years! It's nice to hear that you bought from Brantford Hyundai! Make sure you tell them that you thought my videos helped you out! (job security for me!)
@@BrantfordKia Don’t worry, I’ve already passed my praise for you along to Tim. You really highlighted a lot of things I couldn’t find in other videos.
@@TripleEhEnt I am in Canada (Alberta) and I just ordered the SC in Sage grey/dark green interior as well! That seems to be a really nice combo. I never got to see the sage grey in person. The model I test drove was the sand coloured one. I am downsizing from my Sierra 1500. I have a 3-4 month wait before it gets here though.
This would be described as a Ute (utility) in Australia. Thanks for your show, it will be very handy when my new Sportage arrives at the end of the month .
That’s true, but aren’t most Ridgeline beds empty all the time anyway? 😉 To be fair, the Santa Cruz is mounted underneath, but changing any tire isn’t the most convenient thing. That’s why I like that my Santa Cruz comes with 5 years of unlimited kilometres of Roadside Assistance.
My dealer let me test drive an ultimate santa cruz while my car was being undercoated. I couldn't get over how smooth it was and quiet. It was by far the smoothest car I have driven. Better then the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan I had.
Yeah. It really is a nice ride. Even my mom was impressed with the overall vehicle, and she doesn't usually notice much. Also to the commenter who mentioned they drove the Tucson so it's almost the same thing. It's not. The Santa Cruz has the rear suspension from the top trims of the Palisade and Telluride, while having a wider track and longer wheelbase. I'm sure the front suspension is different too. It really is a different vehicle and rides very well.
Dude put the K&N air filter in. Better every thing! Again no more turbo lag Completely! Fuel economy gets better too. Amazon has all your tow stuff. They already have Life kits too.
Just got mine 1 of July 2022! Love it. Need the loops for the trunk , however my SC is the SEL and I don’t have that roof rails to hook the racks !🤷🏻♂️
Yes, it does not take good pictures. My sand color looks white and yet it looks so much darker in person. It also looks very flat in photos. This truck is very impressive in person.
Nice video! I’m in the USA and Santa Cruz might be a good future option. Thanks! *I live in “the south” so I don’t have much use for “winter tires” but I love the idea! I love the darker wheels, and tires!
I really hope the Santa Cruz gets a full electric version in the next couple of years. My next car will definitely be an EV and I really want it to be a Santa Cruz.
I don't expect a full EV version of this vehicle, but a Hybrid and PHEV wouldn't surprise me. I think they'll see how this vehicle does, and if it does well, I could see a future version set up on a full EV platform, but that would be a ways out at this point.
I'm a huge fan of the Weathertech mats. I have them in my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Ltd. I have them for the front, back, and trunk. I also have the rain/wind window visors for all doors.
Those new viking contact 7 are pretty much the best winter tires on the market. Here in Quebec, they get a lot of praise from auto critics and tire shops. You have a very nice SC congratulations. Is it safe to assume your Colorado will be featured as a used car in your videos?
Yeah, I’ve heard very good things about the Viking Contact 7, so we’ll see how they are. Again, once you put any kind or quality winter tire on a vehicle like this, you’re going to get a pretty impressive vehicle in the winter. If you give the electronics just a little extra traction, the vehicle knows what to do with that! But yeah, I expect good things from these. The Colorado likely won’t be in a used car video. I would have liked to do one, but it’s at Brantford Hyundai, and I don’t usually do a lot of used car videos for them right now.
The worst thing about this vehicle, especially in cold climates, is the factory tonneau cover. After two weeks of frozen and messed up action, I tossed it and bought an aftermarket roll up.
A bed extender is a great accessory for me. Can't wait to get my Premium Phantom black. Already named her Quirky. What do you think of the name? Love these videos.
The buttons take a day or two to get used to, and then you don't even think about them. The price, I hear you. It's actually priced competitively with SUV's with similar options (Check out the Kia Sorento pricing). Not everyone is going to think it's a good value, but for me it was. The Maverick at this price isn't NEARLY as nice on the inside, and still lacks many features that you can get on the Santa Cruz.
Love the rims! I went with gloss black RTX Arai in 18". Going to run the 30s until the Michelins are worn out, then probably get another set of 18" wheels/tires. I like the extra sidewall. I have the Goodyear WinterCommand Ultras on for winter. Wasn't sure what to expect, I've never run Goodyear winter tires before, but they have impressed me. We had over 30cm of snow last week, freezing rain coming home tonight, and there's just no end of the traction. I TRIED to get it to break loose, trying to test the limits, couldn't even make traction control kick in. I've managed to get a TOUCH of slide on ice with heavy braking. It's ridiculously stable and grippy. I added the factory Hyundai floor liners. Had the rear ones for a month, front liners just hit my dealer last week, picking them up sometime between now and the 3rd when I go in for service. No 7 pin offered yet - but the Kia Telluride 7 pin connector is supposed to be the exact fit part that connects to the wiring harness. Plates in Ontario go either way. Mine has truck plates. The Blue Stone my dealer sold last month (was being picked up the day I was in to get the hitch/roof crossbars installed) had the blue car plates. No idea how they choose. LOL I do find the transmission doesn't like to upshift to higher gears. I regularly find myself manually upshifting to bring the rpm down while coasting/cruising. It definitely has long-term effects on fuel economy. I think Hyundai could eke out a couple of mpg with some reprogramming. I get that they want to keep the revs on the edge of the power band, but if you're not putting your foot into it, why not go for economy? Also discovered last week that a little bit of road spray building up on the front will cause the radar in the grill to become disabled. That, in turn, COMPLETELY disables cruise control. And it's VERY LITTLE road spray/ice/snow that will cause it to disable. FYI on the brunk - if you think you could leave the cover up, under a closed tonneau, and use that space to hold your groceries in place (which is super convenient, btw) you will rapidly come to regret your resourcefulness. Klaxons will sound, the dash will flash red and white warnings, and it will very much insist that you close the brunk. If you wait it out and drive on, the klaxons and flashing gauge cluster will re-start at every single stop sign and stop light until you a) pull over and give up or b) arrive at home. HUGELY annoying and completely ruins a very useful option for cargo management in the bed. I was very disappointed when I tried that. Oh, and the FRONT windows do go down when you hold the lock button on your key fob. Not the back windows though. On our Equinox, all four windows drop. It's nice when it's hot to get the hot air out before you get in. Less useful in winter. LOL Your wife probably doesn't like it because you/she will get stopped everywhere you go and asked questions about it. Had a guy yell across the lot tonight while getting gas, "Hey! Is that the new Hyundai truck? It's awesome!" :D Another difference between the Canadian and American models in the Ultimate/Limited is the door handle. We ONLY get the 'black button' door lock. The Limited in the US has a different one with a touch sensitive lock button/capacitive unlock on the back of the handle. That also allows the Hyundai Digital Key (Android phones) and Key Cards that we sadly don't get as an option. Have fun at the auto show! Hope we'll get to see some of the Ioniq Seven they've been teasing!

What's going on with all the problems with the dual clutch transmission I've read about? Why wouldn't they put the 8-speed transmission in the turbo model instead of the dual clutch transmission? I'd like to buy one but want with the 2.5 turbo model however it comes standard with dual clutch transmission which gives me pause on purchasing one.

Yeah. I think that's what I love so much about this vehicle. It's got a great towing capacity which means that whatever I'm towing is nowhere near maxing it out, it's got a great ride, top safety equipment and technology features. It's comfortable, corners we'll, and I personally love the looks. It combines the best features of so many other types of vehicles into one new breed of vehicle. I'm a total fan at this point, and I say that recognizing that this vehicle isn't for everyone, and for most people there will be a better option for their needs.

It’s one of those vehicles that really doesn’t film well, but I really like it in person. I’m discovering that it’s a love it or hate it design. A lot of people REALLY like it, but a lot of people want their pickups to look like traditional pickups.
How much smaller is the backseat in this than it was in your Colorado? I have three dogs I carry around in the back of my Canyon. Wondering if there’s too little room in this…..
Oh, she quite likes the features, the interior, the ride, the handling, the technology, and at the end of the day, this is my vehicle. She drives our Kia Soul EV as her primary vehicle. If we can afford to buy a vehicle, she lets me choose which vehicle that is, especially when it's my own vehicle.
i'd probably give up my maverick order for one of these, but the gas mileage is really awful on the SC. but good looking otherwise. you'll also see these everywhere as they're building them in montgomery to replace the accent on that line, i believe.
You are spot on with receiver location. Afraid that will cause a lot of drag with a trailer or bicycle mount. Also, I need to see a factory optioned brake controller - too many bad reviews on the kurt echo.
I'm not worried about the Echo... some of those bad reviews are from people not understanding what they have, or how to work it. I also think that, even though they talk about it being moved from trailer to trailer easily, that's not how it should be used. Set it up for a single trailer, and forget it. It should work well. There are definitely other options though if you want to remain wireless. At the end of the day, my trailer is 2000 lbs. If everything completely failed, I would still be able to stop safely.
Beware that dual clutch tranny on anything but paved roads. If the vehicle articulation gets too severe on dirt roads and the tires loose grip, its highly likely you will smell the clutches of transmission getting burnt, which can cause the transmission to fail. Dual clutch transmissions are NOT meant to be taken off-road, even if all you are doing is going camping.
The hood should be dual pump and not the stick style hood holder. Cheap for the price and my Kia Soul and Telluride have the dual pumps.. Better feel and only one hand require to open.
Nice! I really like mine in white. I like the way the black and white contrast each other to show the lines of the car. I think you're going to love it!
I told you so! I hate plugging the cable in ! I have big Hands! I have to move the stick to plug the phone in ! And that's dangerous! But Love the Truck so much we just leave it in .
Yeah, but it has to mount on the bed rails to keep it out of the wind while driving, while preserving the use of the roll top bed cover. That would be cool!
Haha, finally someone agree with me that Hyundai push button shifter is a better design. That old school shifter is what I don't like as well. they should've use the push button and save room. Not only it's hard to reach the wireless charging in P, it also blocks the cup in the forward cup holder if shifter in D
You can't deny that there is more space for a couple of phones (both front seat passengers get a place to put a phone) in the Tucson. The push button shifter does have a practical benefit for sure!
@@lourdessoler1062 I’m sure they have that in mind or maybe already in their pipeline especially EV trucks getting more attention nowadays. Most OEM will for sure sell more trucks than ever before.
@@reygone776 I'd love to see them do a mid-size based on the Telluride. It has the right look for it - and would definitely take it head-to-head against the Ridgeline. While there have been a lot of comparisons with the RL and SC, they're very much different classes of vehicle, size-wise. But a Telluride truck? That would rock. Still wouldn't trade my Santa Cruz for one though. Love this thing more every time I get behind the wheel. Almost 7,200km in less than two months. :)
Are the roof rails standard completely across all trims? I definitely want to get roof racks but not sure if the rails are standard. Here in USA looking at packages, it says the SEL with activity package comes with it. I'm not looking to spend $36k for the rack alone. Anything available in aftermarket? Thanks.
I believe that all the Canadian models have roof rails, but I don't think every American model does. Thule or Yakima will likely have solutions, if not now, then very soon.
Still waiting for mine to be delivered. I know step by step where my socks are that I ordered from Amazon, but no idea where my SC is between Alabama and Indy
Will the Yakima OverHaul HD Tonneau set fit the t-slot tracks in the bed cover? I currently have the Retrax cover with the Yakima OverHaul HD system on my Chevy Colorado and absolutely love it.
@@BrantfordKia that was my thought when I first saw the Santa Cruz's bed cover. The t-slots on my Retrax are about 3/8ths of an inch wide. I would bet if the Yakima doesn't currently fit, they'll have something out soon that will.
@@ralphkeith2905 Yeah, the cover can hold 220 lbs, so there should be no reason that we can't mount bike racks or other reasonably weighted stuff up there. I'm going to continue to look into it.
Haha! They're doing everything they can. Dealers across the world are extremely low on inventory. It doesn't matter what brand. Hyundai is doing better than many companies, but yes, it's a tough time right now, and we'd all love to see more inventory.
@@BrantfordKia what puzzle me is. That it seems that the only way to see one is to special order it. You also need to add a brake controller to the towing package.
If dealerships didn’t price gauge as hard as they do on the mavericks. Maverick would spark my interest more. Dealerships are doing 10k over msrp on them. That’s insane. Hyundai dealerships are also gauging but gauging out maybe 5-7k from msrp. Consumers are gradually finding out and it’s eventually going to backfire on the dealerships greed
I was really interested in this vehicle but I watched a video on how the headlamps leak water into the compartments. The lighting/visibility was hampered by fogging. The Kia/Hyundai Dealer would not repair the defect.
The only time I've seen liquid leak into the cabin, was from a blocked (spider got in there) air conditioning drain. Once the blockage was cleared, there was no more liquid. Just one guys opinion, but we see these vehicles every day.
@@BrantfordKia I'm talking about the headlight compartments, not the cabin. The video showed the water in the headlight compartments after a rain storm and car wash.
I have an ebike which is quite heavy, and I'm just going to use my hitch rack. Other than that, maybe tailgate down and tie it like a motorcycle? I haven't thought about it, because for me, I'll take a lighter-weight bike on the roof, or my ebike using the hitch.
Looks great and hopefully it doesn't fade into oblivion like previous attempts. Weathertech mats i've had before and they all curled up after a couple of years and also your feet slide around on them , the best ones are factory rubber all the way. What are you going to put on it for mudflaps, as we are waiting for our Santa Cruz to show up?
I've had the WeatherTech floor liners for the front of my SC for about 2 weeks now - I'm not a huge fan of WT floor liners but that was about the only choice. I'm a bigger fan of 3d Maxpider mats but not an option quite yet for the SC.
I’m picking mine up this week and unfortunately the floor liners aren’t available. Is weather tech that bad? You think I should hold off until the Hyundai ones become available?
I’ve had weathertech liners for years, and I think they’re excellent for how I use my vehicle. There are other options, but for me the weathertechs are my favourite.
@@pauldesousa2296 The WeatherTech mats are very good - just not my favorite - more about the materials than anything - the coverage of the WeatherTech is very very good - sometimes they are a bit pricey but they are made here in the states and I've never had any fit issues. some folks complain that the curl a bit on the sides where they go up along the sills or transmission "hump" but I've never had that issue.
it's look like a Subaru Baja back then , for surfer or wild mountains skier montain byke nature campers definatly not for construction workers or reno jobbers!
Yeah, it definitely has the Subaru Baja vibe to it. Just last week, we filmed an interview with the lead designer of this vehicle, it wasn't designed for the "construction worker, or reno jobbers" as you say. They knew that this wasn't going to be a traditional truck, so they "leaned in" to what it could be. I think they nailed it for my type of use!
My understanding is that the initial Santa Cruz vehicles went out on blue letter plates which are car plates. Since then the license office has called it a truck, so now they have truck plates. I had a pickup before that I traded in on this vehicle, so I was able to take my truck plates and transfer them to this vehicle.
Ny take is that Hyundai made the mistake of not bringing in the cheaper Santa Cruz model that's only 2wd. They could go toe-to-toe with Ford here if they brought the lower-end models. Ford tapped into something good when they made the Maverick an affordable alternative to regular cars.
I think it depends on how things are priced. Honestly, if the Maverick at the very bottom end can compete in the same price class as the Elantra, I don't see the Santa Cruz getting into that price point, and then if they do, they won't have the hybrid for that price. So the Maverick is a unique animal at the very bottom end. Likewise, the Santa Cruz far outclasses the Maverick at the top end, other than the fact that they both have small beds, the Santa Cruz is just nicer in just about every way at the top end. So while they compete in that middle ground, I just don't see them as true competitors at the top and bottom end where they each have their advantages.
@@BrantfordKia the thing is that Ford isn't competing with the Santa Cruz, they're competing with other cars and banking on affordability plus the added practicality of a pickup. And they have that proposition for customers out there. Sure, you can have a cheap Elantra or Accent, but wouldn't you rather have something more practical than just a car? That is genius if the Maverick turns out to be a reliable vehicle.
@@Sendong123 I'm on the record as saying that the base Maverick is an impressive move! I would have rather sacrificed a few features to have a little pickup truck when I bought my first Elantra over 20 years ago. Having said that, I still think the Santa Cruz is a MUCH better vehicle at the top end of the compact truck class.
@@BrantfordKia do you have any idea why Hyundai didn't bring in the lower end 2wd Santa Cruz to Canada? And while I have you here, as a Hyundai/Kia representative, what is the reasoning that Canadians don't get the more-impressive 10 year warranty that US consumers get with a brand new Hyundai/Kia vehicle? Granted we don't get the ridiculous mark-ups US dealerships can impose, I still think a 10-year warranty in Canada would've been amazing.
@@Sendong123 I don't have an official answer as to why we don't have the lower trim, but the reality is that FWD SUV's don't sell all that well in Canada, and I think it's possible that the chip shortage may have played into things. If we're only going to get a small amount of Santa Cruz vehicles, the dealers would want the higher trim models. Think about it from a dealers perspective. They know they're going to sell out, so they would rather sell out of vehicles with a (likely) higher profit margin. It's possible that we'll see other trims when the world returns to a more normal state. Lastly, with the warranty, two points on that. 1) in Canada we don't need that warranty. The reputation of Hyundai is pretty good here, and it's already a class-leading warranty, and if we did want the warranty, we could buy it at the time of sale. Which brings up an important point... the Americans PAY for that warranty. Look at the price of a top-of-the-line Santa Cruz in Canada compared to the U.S. When you do the exchange rate, you can see that we're getting a better deal on that vehicle.
In a much earlier review, you got me interested in the Dark Gray (green?), with Orange Accent, interior when you said how much you like it. However, not that I see your personally ordered example, I see that you went with the Black interior instead. Any reason, beyond personal preference, you didn't select the Gray/Orange instead? So far, I have not been able to see the Gray/Orange in person, and have been holding out buying until I do, looking for a Sage Gray with Dark Gray/Orange interior. Now you have me second guessing myself! Plan "B" is a Hampton Gray with Black, which is much easier to come by.
Great question! I had narrowed my personal choice of exterior colours down to the HAMPTON GREY and the ICE WHITE, and if I had bought the grey, I would have gone with the green interior as I thought it looked really sharp. We already have a grey vehicle at home, so I decided not to have two vehicles that were nearly the same colour. Once I decided that I'd go with white, what I really like about that colour on the outside is the white and black contrast. Everything on the outside is a shade of white or black. The stock wheels have a bright section that look white, the stock grill has tinted areas which look black when the lights are off and white when they're on, and I just decided that I wanted to continue the black and white theme to the inside of the vehicle. If I bought the Hampton Grey, the Sage Grey (which looks green to me) or the Twilight Black, then I would have gone with the Green interior. It was just a style choice to go with a colourless interior (white or black, no other colour) for me when I chose the white exterior.
My car has the BLACK interior, but the GREEN does have some orange trim. We have other videos of the green interior. Specifically the GREY Santa Cruz. Our first Santa Cruz video. I believe the BLACK one that we have on camera is another one with green interior. You can search youtube for "Kia Hyundai Channel Santa Cruz" and look for those vehicles. If you skim through the video, you'll see the green interior. I'm a fan of the green, but I ended up going with the black interior when I chose the white exterior. I liked the Black and white theme to the exterior and decided to keep the black interior instead of introduce another colour.

@@BrantfordKia that's one of my deciding factors for me too. The Ridgeline did not fit in my garage but SC cleared.
The Maverick will win in sales mostly due to fleet use. It's more attractive as a parts runner truck or such, especially the cheap FWD version. Public utilities will probably pick up a ton of them as well.
@@BrantfordKia being a us citizen, I chose the Santa Cruz over the Maverick because it was built in Alabama, not Mexico.

I agree with you. I was a truck guy that did not really need a gas guzzling vehicle. I enjoy the comfort of this vehicle and the capability of it. And it gets double the MPG with twice the get up and go. I love it.

We bought our 2023 Santa Cruz two weeks ago. We love it it handles great in snow, it is like the old el Camino the car ride with a p/u bed
That turned me off, and that price adjustment kinda got me heated as well!

... l don't blame you re: your "decision tree".
About the double tire thing....at about @13:00 on the video....l had asked the question because :
1) l had never seen that done before on a smallish car.....and it seemed to me that dirt, salt etc. kicking up on the car's white paint job would be pretty corrosive
...... it would seem to me to be a "no go".
🤣. He'd give me another convertible everytime l came to town for scheduled car service

I bought mine one week ago Sunday from a Kia dealer in Ohio the Santa Cruz 2022 SEL Premium I absolutely love it...💜
Good choice!

Well done
Congratulations Peter, very nice Hyundai vehicle. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I love this one!
Real nice, I went with the Tucson hybrid but if there is a Santa Cruz hybrid maybe I’ll trade in

You have to empty Ridgeline bed to get to spare. Not the case with Santa Cruz.
Surprising as I test drove the 2015 Hyundai Genesis and was shocked at how quiet it was

I love the darker wheels, and tires!
looking to buy the santa cruz i love it and cruz is also my last name
I really hope the Santa Cruz gets a full electric version in the next couple of years. My next car will definitely be an EV and I really want it to be a Santa Cruz.
I don't expect a full EV version of this vehicle, but a Hybrid and PHEV wouldn't surprise me. I think they'll see how this vehicle does, and if it does well, I could see a future version set up on a full EV platform, but that would be a ways out at this point.
Me too!!! I was saddened to find this vehicle line does not have a "plug-in" option.
I'm a huge fan of the Weathertech mats. I have them in my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Ltd. I have them for the front, back, and trunk. I also have the rain/wind window visors for all doors.
Yeah, I love weathertechs for my use. I've never had an issue with them, and they're great for every season, no matter what I'm doing with them.
Much better than weather tech and look much nicer looking are the Maxpider 3D not sure if they make them yet for the Santa Cruz.
Got mine in April santa cruz with activity packages great sub wish the gearing was better but runs great ,hard cover with sunroof

If you have the trailer hitch bully make a great tail gate step with a Brake light. It's awesome.
Anyone know where to get the t bolt roof rack? I really like the idea of not putting roof racks on the car since they cost gas mileage.
Tbh as much as I love the Santa Cruz the only downsides are both the lack of analogue buttons and it’s pricing

LOL
I do find the transmission doesn't like to upshift to higher gears.
LOL
Your wife probably doesn't like it because you/she will get stopped everywhere you go and asked questions about it. Had a guy yell across the lot tonight while getting gas, "Hey! Is that the new Hyundai truck? It's awesome!" :D
Another difference between the Canadian and American models in the Ultimate/Limited is the door handle.

I really want a Santa Cruz, but only if Hyundai puts the Tucson's hybrid or PHEV system in it. I know they can do it.
Can u please do a complete detailed edition of all the technical information on the 10.25 information center

We need a rooftop tent solution for the Santa Cruz.

That's what I have to look into. I don't know yet, but it really looks like we should be able to use those tracks for some sort of accessories.
@@BrantfordKia that was my thought when I first saw the Santa Cruz's bed cover. The t-slots on my Retrax are about 3/8ths of an inch wide. I would bet if the Yakima doesn't currently fit, they'll have something out soon that will.

In Canada they all come with that roll top cover, so you'll have to check with your American dealer to see what they're saying.
Hyundai needs to get more to the dealership.

What is best way to travel/attach 2 heavy bicycles in bed area (not on roof and no hitch)?

Where is the back up tire
I've had the WeatherTech floor liners for the front of my SC for about 2 weeks now - I'm not a huge fan of WT floor liners but that was about the only choice. I'm a bigger fan of 3d Maxpider mats but not an option quite yet for the SC.
Tuxmats are even better. More coverage, cheaper and better materials.
Did you get those license plates because it’s a “truck” or another reason?
My understanding is that the initial Santa Cruz vehicles went out on blue letter plates which are car plates. Since then the license office has called it a truck, so now they have truck plates. I had a pickup before that I traded in on this vehicle, so I was able to take my truck plates and transfer them to this vehicle.
different rims?
Can you get this in a manual transmission?
@@BrantfordKia Thanks for the reply! Very helpful. Sage Grey with Grey/Orange seems to be the path I am on.
Hi Peter, I just have to make my final decision on colour. I thought the green interior came with orange stitching but I see yours does not.
@@BrantfordKia Thanks Peter. Really enjoy your informative videos
@@cberni16 I appreciate you taking the time to watch. I have a lot more planned for the Santa Cruz, especially in the Spring and Summer.
Hi is the front grill silver chrome or black chrome?
On this car it's a darker chrome. On some American trims it's a a bright chrome.
