Be careful of air quality, if you want to move to Chiang Mai for its affordability and safety, beautiful city, but the air pollution is off the charts. Make sure to look at clean drinking water, air quality, and industrial activity.
I'd think low laying area, ocean, fresh seafood for health, and low industrial activity.

I have to jump in here. I am a US payroll remote salaried worker and I never have to go to the office, but I could not legally keep my job while residing in another country. I am allowed to work in any country that I travel to for short term visits. Something like not more than 1 month. It has something to do with the US tax arrangement. If you are pay rolled in the US, you will still have to pay the full amount for US tax, SS, insurance and maintain a US address for the company records.
I know this because I had a reason to move to the UK for 1 year and my company transferred my payroll to the UK office. I took a big pay cut, and I paid to the UK tax, pension and healthcare. Anyway, I am happy to be back.

Travel advisories are often politically motivated. China is marked Level 3 Reconsider Travel for various reasons, one of which is exit bans. However, Vietnam has a very similar form of government (single party unitary communist state) and also has exit bans (as described in Canadian and UK travel advisories towards Vietnam). Despite this, the US is courting Vietnam, so the State Department has marked Vietnam as Level 1 Exercise Normal Precautions with no mention of exit bans.

I have been to many places in the world and while many were very nice, I wouldn't want to live there. People always have the grass is greener syndrome. I know because I had it. I was tired of long, hot summers, hurricanes and I wanted seasons. So we moved west and lived there for 9 years. Besides shoveling snow, I missed the food, the people and even the weather of my hometown. We have been back now for 4 years and I couldn't be happier. You couldn't pay me to live in any of the places you named. The cost of living is cheap in those places for a reason. While healthcare may be cheaper, what quality of care are you getting for your money? I have looked at numerous vidoes from exPats and other Americans who thought the grass would be greener in other countries and they found out there were many trade-offs. Plus, I cannot put a price on my freedom.

I left Texas in 1990, and it became unrecognizable by 1995. The entire state was Blue until Karl Rove gerrymandered the Republican takeover.
When I say Texas was blue, I mean from the very lowest political offices at the local level all the way up to the office of Govenor, which a FEMALE, Ann Richards, held.
I moved to Manhattan in 1990, and then later to California. It is exorbitantly expensive here, but it is so beautiful along the coast, and I'd pay any amount of money to NOT go back to Texas.

What! U want to move out of the country? How dare u! We will miss u if u do. 😭
My pick is Thailand. I've been there & loved it. Can't own any real estate, u can rent only if u r not a Thai citizen.
Bangkok is the worst with noise & pollution.
Move to a smaller island but not the tourist area. Eat some grilled lobster, yummy.

You realize that both far left and far right think tanks form a list of wants from their candidates should they win, and both lists are extreme in different areas. That's how our democracy has always worked (frankly, any negotiations in life- if you take a job and want 80k a year you start negotiating at 100k). Both sides present the extremes of everything they want so that when they negotiate, they end up at the realistic end goal compromises. Project 2025 is the far right extremist wish list. Not one time have I heard that Trump is just pushing through the project wish list. I'm a registered Democrat and frankly, it's gotten ridiculous that the party I've belonged to for decades has forgone common sense.

So I always ask this, Kamala always said Trump was going to destroy democracy. Well how many of you voted for Kamala to even be your candidate. None of you did. That is literally the most communistic thing that has ever happened in this country. That’s what North Korea does, this is your candidate like it or not and you will vote for them. She single handily tried to destroy democracy before she ever got the very first vote.
