  • Earlier in this series, we discussed the Do's and Don'ts of Tank Acclimation. In this episode, we put those tips into action! We'll show you how and what we use to acclimate our fish and corals while diving deeper into detail when it comes to light shock and parameter testing. We discuss how the parameter results can speed up or slow down your acclimation process and why it is important to loosely match your parameters before introducing your new fish to your tank.

Keep temps up. One thing people most often neglect is temp. Use a small 25-50 watt preset heater.

I’m loving the content you’re putting out! Thank you so much.
Things like “here is what close looks like” are super helpful since “close” is a subjective term and means different things to everyone.
Question: would you also recommend the use of an ammonia binder while acclimating fish in a container?
    TY.

What if the ph and salinity are the same as your tank do you have to acclimate the fish or coral

What do you recommend when moving from QT to DT?? Most of the time the parameters are close so can I just net the fish and drop in DT if I don’t have a acclimation box??

Finally, if display tank has ich and other organisms in what is generally a healthy system, the introduction of a new fish, whether directly, or in an acclimation box or even after quarantine, ich parasite will find that fish. There are some ways to deal with that?

Winter time best to get livestock from LFS. Not good in cold weather and not good in hot weather. Remember also that airplanes get either very hot or very cold in the cargo areas, more so at the extremes of our seasons.
