It is completely out of the ordinary how Dimash Qudaibergen manages to convey extremely different emotions by singing almost exactly the same lyrics but using a different dynamic, a different key, a different timbre and different sound production techniques! He begins with the shyness and doubt of a stranger who enters a territory totally foreign to him (when he plays in the piano mode and with sounds surrounded by breath), moves on to the desire to try his strength to achieve a new beginning in life (then when he achieves that magnificent passage through the whole spectrum of his vocal rank using very different techniques of singing on each register) and reaches the end to have the power of the winning hero who not only tried, not only fought but finally defeated (when he shows us the power of his belting and that high and super long note of 20 seconds)! I only scored 3 moments, but they were more because between the choruses there were 2 slightly different moments of storytelling, but both in his register below the bass-baritone and there was another chorus (in total there were 4 choruses and two slightly more parts of the story, all in different dynamics, different keys and very different vocal techniques performed impeccably from a technical point of view, but also with strong emotional effects in the sense of impressive and maximum effect on the audience that practically listened to the whole song almost hypnotized)! For me it was the perfect song of the moment and it was a sublime demonstration of how much Dimash Qudaibergen can still progress even though he is already far beyond his contemporaries ! In this song he covered from C2 to F6 !

The main arrangement was by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan). Igor Krutoy said, “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments. ¡Es completamente fuera de lo común cómo Dimash Qudaibergen logra transmitir emociones extremadamente diferentes al cantar casi exactamente la misma letra pero usando una dinámica diferente, una clave diferente, un timbre diferente y técnicas de producción de sonido diferentes! Comienza con la timidez y la duda de un extraño que se adentra en un territorio totalmente ajeno a él (cuando toca en modo piano y con sonidos rodeados de aliento), pasa al deseo de poner a prueba sus fuerzas para lograr un nuevo comienzo en la vida. (luego cuando logra ese magnifico pasaje por todo el espectro de su rango vocal utilizando muy diferentes técnicas de canto en cada registro) y llega al final a tener el poder del héroe vencedor que no solo lo intentó, no solo luchó sino que finalmente lo derrotó ( cuando nos muestra el poder de su cinturon y esa nota alta y super larga de 20 segundos)! Solo marqué 3 momentos, pero fueron más porque entre los estribillos hubo 2 momentos de narración un poco diferentes, pero ambos en su registro debajo del bajo-barítono y hubo otro estribillo (en total fueron 4 estribillos y dos partes un poco más de la historia, todo en diferentes dinámicas, diferentes tonalidades y muy diferentes técnicas vocales interpretadas impecablemente desde el punto de vista técnico, pero también con fuertes efectos emocionales en el sentido de un efecto impresionante y máximo en el público que prácticamente escuchó la canción casi entera. hipnotizado)! perhaps you need to listen to Dimash’s second performance of this song Stranger in China, Super Shine Brothers show. So different to this performance at New Wave 2021, but every bit another masterpiece!
That ending was singing with one breath for 20 seconds. There is actually a new version of Stranger with different vocal tricks in the middle and with a shorter ending on the one breath. He also doesn't fall to the ground for some reason as he does fall or jump to the ground during a LOT of performances. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓

Thanks for another great reaction. Dimash is always unbelievably amazing. “Stranger” was composed by Russian songwriter Igor Krutoy, and the lyrics were written by American poetess Sharon Vaughn. The main arrangement was by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan).
Igor Krutoy said, “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.”
The solo instrument heard at the beginning is called a kobyz which is an ancient Kazakh instrument. The idea to add the kobyz to this song came to Dimash after he first heard the tune of “Stranger”. The singer realised that the folk instrument would fit perfectly into the song, giving it an exquisite sound. Dimash has always been anxious to popularise traditional Kazakh music. So, he really wanted the kobyz to be played on a big stage like Sochi’s New Wave Hall
Dimash said, “We invited our talented friend Olzhas Qurmanbek to perform the kobyz in “Stranger”, because he is considered the best kobyz player, who managed to fully convey the emotions and character of the song. Thanks to him the song got its outstanding and unique sound. I’ve always dreamed of the kobyz to be heard in my foreign collaborations.”

Dimash and Igor often use archetypes in their music. This epic piece evokes the journey of soul through many lifetimes (wandering in ancient times, all that is left behind) as it finds itself in an expanded/transcended state of awareness (new ground, who I am, begin again). Like in many of his arrangements, Dimash incorporates sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully, but always with great respect. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what Dimash wants to accomplish. Together they create magic. Dimash insisted on the use of the kobyz, an instrument which was used in Kazakh shamanism to communicate with spirits, and it fits beautifully.

This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak.
The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments.
(Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.)
A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music.
The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

¡Es completamente fuera de lo común cómo Dimash Qudaibergen logra transmitir emociones extremadamente diferentes al cantar casi exactamente la misma letra pero usando una dinámica diferente, una clave diferente, un timbre diferente y técnicas de producción de sonido diferentes! Comienza con la timidez y la duda de un extraño que se adentra en un territorio totalmente ajeno a él (cuando toca en modo piano y con sonidos rodeados de aliento), pasa al deseo de poner a prueba sus fuerzas para lograr un nuevo comienzo en la vida. (luego cuando logra ese magnifico pasaje por todo el espectro de su rango vocal utilizando muy diferentes técnicas de canto en cada registro) y llega al final a tener el poder del héroe vencedor que no solo lo intentó, no solo luchó sino que finalmente lo derrotó ( cuando nos muestra el poder de su cinturon y esa nota alta y super larga de 20 segundos)! Solo marqué 3 momentos, pero fueron más porque entre los estribillos hubo 2 momentos de narración un poco diferentes, pero ambos en su registro debajo del bajo-barítono y hubo otro estribillo (en total fueron 4 estribillos y dos partes un poco más de la historia, todo en diferentes dinámicas, diferentes tonalidades y muy diferentes técnicas vocales interpretadas impecablemente desde el punto de vista técnico, pero también con fuertes efectos emocionales en el sentido de un efecto impresionante y máximo en el público que prácticamente escuchó la canción casi entera. hipnotizado)! Para mí fue la canción perfecta del momento y fue una demostración sublime de cuánto puede progresar Dimash Qudaibergen aún cuando ya está muy por encima de sus contemporáneos. ¡En esta canción cubrió desde C2 hasta F6!

That ending was singing with one breath for 20 seconds. There is actually a new version of Stranger with different vocal tricks in the middle and with a shorter ending on the one breath. He also doesn't fall to the ground for some reason as he does fall or jump to the ground during a LOT of performances. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓
