  • This is Dr.Raghu, welcome to my UA-cam channel.
    In this video I clear the concepts regarding Brown Sequard syndrome.
    This video describes the various tracts in spinal cord, both the ascending and descending which are involved in hemi section of spinal cord.
    Then I describe the clinical features a person suffers due to Hemi section of spinal cord both at the level of lesion and below the level of lesion.

    As per your explaination, it seems dorsal tracts are not spinothalamic tracts, means not following spinal cord to thalamus course. Infact all ascending tracts follow the same spinothalamic way.

      But we dnt call dorsal coloums as spinothalamic tracts dear. They are different because their course is different and their purpose (function) is different. Yess all ascending tracts pass via spinal cord but nomenclature of other tracts is different.

    Sir here dorsal column pathway passing on same side means at the level of spinal cord region it seems right

    • @Dr.Raghu-simplified_classes
      @Dr.Raghu-simplified_classes  Рік тому +1

      The lesion is on right side in the video. So right side dorsal coloumn is gone. It means right side sensations carried by the dorsal coloumn are gone( because dorsal coloumn unlike STT, does not cross over) means ipsilateral side.

    • @Dr.Raghu-simplified_classes
      @Dr.Raghu-simplified_classes  Рік тому +1

      At the level of lesions, all sensations on that side are gone , at that level.

      @@Dr.Raghu-simplified_classes i mean to say is that,sir dorsal column pathway crosses to opposite side at the level of medullain complete pathway ,u mentioned that dorsal column pathway ascends up on the same side in the vedio.i am asking that which u explained in the diagram is only upto the spinal cord ,if it is only upto the level of spinal cord the sensations are lost on same side if the lesion at below the level of spinal cord right sir

      @@adhithyarider1323 ya because this is Brown sequard syndrome - Hemi section of spinal cord. So in this video I am just talking about lesions of spinal cord.
