Lived in Turkey for years. Turkish football is a microcosm of how mental the country is. Most club owners have strong political affiliations and just like Turkish politics, the football is rife with corruption and scandals.

as a turkish person and a beşiktaş supporter i have things about to say lots of the things in this video.
1- all the problems in turkey coming from one and only one reason. i wont be saying his name but if you looking anything about turkey you can figure it out.
2- our football federation president was not elected as usual in last 20 years. normally all the clubs chairmans in first and second division get togetger and elect one of the canditates. Mehmet Büyükekşi was a shoemaker and no clue about football or how to manage it. he even said "i cant be adress which one of the ball in front of me as football ball". someone because of the politic agenda put him in charge of turkish football.
3-our referee's just bad. you can think about it this way for better understanding. if there's a mistake about a call in modern football you can go or ask to VAR to correct your decision right? they were not doing it because they afraid to VAR expose their incompetence.
4- lots of injustice happening in our football, because of the poor management and ignorance. like economic, corruption on every level, justice system, human rights, animal rights...

Yeah I am Turkish person, and Turkish football is strange and violent. Especially fans of Trabzonspor, I remember in 1997 the Turkish cup final. Kocaelispor defeated Trabzonspor 2-1 in 2 games. And the second the ref ended the match fans and players began shouting and hitting each other. And I don't know if you talked about this in the video but in 2000, in the UEFA Cup final. Galatasaray was against Leeds United. Before the first game. 2 Leeds United fans died after a disaster at Istanbul.

As a Beşiktaş fan, unfortunately Turkish football is declining over the years. Games are no fun, refs are just suck and both fans and club responsibles are mental. Beşiktaş has been facing these hardships in terms of faulty ref decisions for many years. But Fenerbahçe finally stood against the federation and defend it's rights. By the way the claim that false fixed match accusasions against fenerbahçe was fabricated by FETÖ ( Fettullahist Terror Organisation). They had infiltrated the important government positions and they tried to take control of Turkey with a coup attempt. And get this, Galatasaray had really close ties with Fetö, even footballers have videos and pictures with Fettullah Gülen... So the situation is not looking good. And I think it's because politics are involved in football. The goverment is meddling with football therefore the decisions doesn't make sense, whoever is closer to goverment wins and everything is about money...

This is a detailed x-ray to the sad reality of Turkish football in this season. Good work, thank you for shedding some light on that situation.
This will be a sad thing to say, but as in many areas in the country, if the ruling party would just take their hands off the federation, that would improve things dramatically by itself. But the members and key supporters of the ruling party in here are so greedy, they just want to control everything they can profit off of. You should look into the bet industry in Türkiye and how betting and gambling ads made their way to many, many websites where there's illegal streams of the Super League or other TV&film content. That money flow ties to the key supporters of the people in power in here, and I don't want to talk further about that as it's where things get dangerous but you get the point.
So, the thing we should do is not allowing politics in the football federation and the pitch. Easier said than done though, there's too much money changing hands to even allow that to happen.
The funny part is there are much less money and fame in the basketball and volleyball teams in Türkiye, yet Turkish teams are so successful in international events, even dominating some of the competitions they're in. This also reflects to the national side of things, we're the #1 in women's volleyball because it's just our women competing at the highest level. It makes me feel hopeful to see what happens when no political influence nor corruption has made its way into the federation and the clubs.

Hiyya fella, what a good sum up of the situation in Turkiye. I was born a mile from the Fenerbahce stadium and many a time celebrated the wins etc. I also lived in Besiktas and also Galatasaray area and most of my friends support GS and BJK some even Trabzonspor. It is a very fair representation of what is happening over there (I live in the UK) and as a FB supporter I know how corrupt TFF is. They favour GS above all. One example I can give you is this; last game of the season GS must win by 6 clear goals or Besiktas will be champions. Now you can guess how many times this would happen anywhere but Turkiye (or Greece)? Nowhere else but it happened in Turkiye. Low be hold GS won by 6 clear goals. From there on I lost my faith.

There's no need for an expert or anything, Its way too obvious for anyone watching both gala and fenerbahce games here. Gala player does a gesture towards the opposite fans. Gets suspended for 1 match, instantly. Fener player makes gestures towards opposite coach and players, swears at opposite fans, fights with his own teammate and THREATENS the ref all in the same game and doesnt get a red card or a suspension. This alone is enough to see the difference. Dont even need to talk about how many red cards, penalties, goals were gifted to fenerbahce to secure their points. Dont even need to talk about how fenerbahce manipulates other teams in the league and make every away match a home match basicly. Getting all of the opposite fans seats to themselves. Filling the whole stadium with their fans. And doing the exact same on Gala games. Filling the whole stadium with Fenerbahce fans while Gala is playing away. Its really simple to someone thats willing to see.

The referee level in the bundesliga is bad aswell but all of that has to do with there being too little referees overall in basically every country. The overall quality has sunk significantly and if a referee does poorly he wont get punished because there simply arent enough qualified referees to replace them (by qualified I dont even mean good necessarily but just referess that are allowed to host matches in the first league). There are also referees, definitely not a majority, but some that seem to be more in the job for the power that they can obtain. There is a certain amount of arrogance with which they carry themselves.

Yet, there are still a lot missing points this gracious commentary missed as one would expect. Fener and Gala are the leading European clubs if they were managed by well-minded managers. However, Gala and Trabzon are too embedded in an established politics that have been trying to confiscate Fener since FB has always been run by anti-establisment secular bourgeois. Galatasaray uses it's influences to overthrow Fenerbahce from football. And if we remember that Erdogan's government works with the construction companies, everything seems clear.

I truly appreciate this content coming from an outside and neutral perspective. Personally, I am a fan of Galatasaray and thus, am of course somewhat biased when it comes to statements about the turkish football. Nevertheless i think it's not wrong when I say that the last couple of years, the situation got heated and heated and heated. Presidents of top clubs accusing each other of dirty things thinking egoistically and in a very short term way. This obviously doesn't really help with bringing peace and joy to the football and for sure does not elevate it to a next level. We all want the same: Justice! Fenerbahce fans (and also fans from other clubs) always think that they are the only ones experiencing injustice. Well let me tell you something, they're not. The ecosystem around football got so bad, that mistakes (mistakes that shouldn't happen) get mixed up and confused with corruption again and again. This also has to do with the fact that in turkish football there very much is corruption in it, as everything is so intransparent (but i mean, where is it transparent). Personally i wish that one day we'll all calm down and just enjoy the rivalry again. Turkish football needs a big clean up, and that's not just Fenerbahce or Galatasaray. They need to work hand in hand and try to elevate the turkish football. Put the ego aside and see the big picture. Erden Timur, vice precident of Galatasaray has this ambition but it's difficult to achieve that in an environment where everyone is only interested in short term success and more importantly, is only interested in their own success.

hi there, i'm a Besiktas fan for 20 years and I am not that much of a fanatic in respect to other teams in Turkey, I support them if I see a team play better than my own.
With that being said, I personally feel like Galatasaray has so much power and influence in the decision-making systems in Turkish football regulations and they can put lots of pressure in decision-making processes, both on the pitch and off the pitch due to their fan numbers being higher than Fenerbahce and Besiktas and also because they have more influential people both in politics and also business(yet the almighty president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a Fenerbahce supporter). However, most of the ongoing discussion in Turkey does not carry truth in them and are almost fully speculations, like Galatasaray being the sole reason for Bein Sports to stream Turkish league.
As a Turkish football enjoyer, I should state that this present chaotic environment does put me off from watching my own national competitions and lessens my sympathy towards the culture behind all of the clubs and even the national team. And I think I am not the only one in this situation, mostly young generations are watching European leagues and describe themselves as fans of non-Turkish clubs(mostly English ones like Liverpool and City). I really believed the current Fenerbahce president Ali Koc and some previous presidents at Besiktas and Galatasaray could put an end to this chaotic environment but they are and were not able to end it, or shift the Turkish insanity to a positive path. Fans are also responsible for a better atmosphere. Rather than a sport, most see football as a battle. Even though they have close friends and relatives supporting a rival team, most can swear heavily towards the rival supporters. Aggression and violence can sometimes come into play and even people from an intelectual background can lose their mind.
Football is a great way of bringing people together and in my childhood it was quite successful in that. I remember celebrating the Galatasaray victory in UEFA final and cheering for Fenerbahce when they had beaten Sevilla in Champions League round of 16. Most of the people did so back then. But nowadays, it is as if these teams are the chief enemies, especially with social media, a toxic environment and hostility grows bigger day by day, some injustice applications by the Football Federation, or some decisions that are seemingly unfair for a particular fan group just add heat to the ongoing tension.
I think with better and autonomous decision-makers, clear-minded administrators in clubs and well-educated fans Turkish football can hit its potential and become a top league in Europe after the top 5 leagues. Yet, I don't think this will happen in the near future.

I am an Albanian Beşiktaş fan, living in Türkiye for over 20 years now. This football league used to be beautiful, events like these happened every now and then, like maybe once every 2 years but this is really getting out of hand. First of all thanks for covering the Turkish League as its often overlooked since no one outside of Türkiye really cares. Even when you were explaining in the video, the events that happened to Fenerbahçe are respectively in 2006-2011-2014. And then the final 3 events are in February, March and April... It shows how worse and out of hand things have become. Fenerbahçe is right about showing a statement even tho I disagree with the way they did it. They should have straight away not bring anyone on the pitch like Beşiktaş did to them back at 2017. The poor U19 players had to go through that. Personally I dont agree with "TFF is behind Galatasaray" or "TFF is behind Fenerbahçe". TFF is a fallen system that is trying to make the fan bases happy but they only make thing worse with every single decision they take. The refs are HORRENDOUS. Only the big teams have loud voices but even if you look at low-end teams' matches you'd still see terrible refreeing there too. I have no clue how we can get a more competent football federation or more competent refrees but some things have to change and in my opinion Fenerbahçe is doing a good job at creating a public awareness. The only way things can change seems to be if all the big 3 agrees to be on the same page and shouts their voices united at the same time. But with the politics, holiganism, extremism and incompetence, that sadly seems awfully unrealistic. I really hope this changes.
Another thing to point out might be that our teams' marvelous European campaigns. Fenerbahçe made it to Euro semis, Galatasaray made it to CL quarters and beat Real Madrid, Beşiktaş made it out the CL groups unbeaten and many more... All these happened between 2012-2018 period. Anything after 2018 is just downfall. Our teams squabbling with each other in a league that barely is profitable and being not rivals but enemies with each other is not helping us in European tournaments as well. Not to mention all this downfall effectivly reflect to the Turkish National Team.
We need a change from bottom to top. Apart from incompetent TFF and refrees, also club presidents who are always incooperative, fans that are always divisive and never understanding that football is an entertainment and ofc our social media that ALWAYS boils things up and make fans/clubs go on a rampage.

I would like to preface my comments by stating that I am a supporter of one side. I am a Galatasaray fan. Now, I want to narrate the events from my perspective. Fenerbahçe has never been wronged. The 28-minute video is full of lies and manipulations. Let’s first look at the Denizlispor match on May 14, 2006. Why are all matches in a league played at the same time? To prevent any side from gaining an advantage based on the results of other matches. This match was extended by 16 minutes. During these 16 minutes, Denizlispor won their battle against relegation, and Fenerbahçe played against an opponent with no stakes in the game. The match ended 1-1 after a series of incompetent shots, and Fenerbahçe lost the championship in the final week. If Appiah’s shot had been 2 cm lower, they would have been champions, and it was an inept attempt at match-fixing. It is important to listen to the words of the Denizlispor president before the match: “If we are relegated, we will speak out, and some people will find themselves in a difficult situation.”
There is a serious animosity between Trabzon and Fenerbahçe because Fenerbahçe surpassed Trabzon’s two championships (1998 and 2010). The shooting of the bus is also significant and has been covered up because Trabzonspor’s administrators were closely related to the authorities at the time. And Fenerbahçe is 100% right in this matter. However, more than 10 years have passed since the incident.
In 2010, Fenerbahçe did engage in match-fixing. They have never been able to clear themselves of these allegations. The evidence was there. However, changes in the Turkish justice system occurred. The evidence was dismissed as it was collected unjustly, and Fenerbahçe was acquitted. They dropped the case for the financial losses incurred through the Champions League because justice in the world operates correctly, and it would have proven that Fenerbahçe engaged in match-fixing. That’s why they withdrew from the CAS case.
Fenerbahçe tries to fix matches but can’t achieve the desired outcome. This is because the Fenerbahçe fans create immense pressure. The athletes get tangled up. Now, I will write to you who the recent presidents of the TFF are. Imagine this happening in the Premier League. Ahmet Aydınlar - Former Fenerbahçe volleyball branch president Yıldırım Demirören - Former Beşiktaş president, whose election promise was not to relegate Fenerbahçe in the 2010 match-fixing case. Nihat Özdemir - Former Fenerbahçe vice president Mehmet Ekşi - Former Gaziantepspor president and allegedly a Galatasaray congress member. (But we never saw him at the congress) Yıldırım Demirören is also the owner of Fanatik, the biggest football newspaper in Turkey. His rival, the editor-in-chief of Fotomaç, is a Fenerbahçe congress member. The video was prepared by Acun Ilıcalı, a Turkish television owner and Champions League broadcaster.
And Fenerbahçe claims to have been wronged. The TFF and media are in Fenerbahçe’s hands, and yet they claim injustice against them. Bull shit!!! It’s utter nonsense and folly!

    • @sacrementochimento3164
      @sacrementochimento3164 8 місяців тому

I have separate comments regarding the Super Cup final. Atatürk is important for all Turks, but this year he is even more significant for Turks because it marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic’s independence and the country’s liberation. Neither Fenerbahçe nor Galatasaray supporters wanted this match to be played in another country. It might not have been important if it were the previous or following year. Fenerbahçe chose the date of April 7th because they thought they would be eliminated from the conference league and Galatasaray would advance past Sparta Prague. However, the opposite happened. A postponement was requested, and it would have been the third postponement. Next summer, there will be a European Championship, and the schedule will be very tight. The TFF refused the postponement. Contrary to Fenerbahçe’s claims, their rivals’ matches were not postponed. All of them played their matches that week (Olympiacos-Lamia: 5-1). The TFF said that the league match could be postponed, but Fenerbahçe did not accept it. As a protest, they fielded the U19 team. The balance of power was very different. If the match had continued, Fenerbahçe would have suffered a historic defeat, which is why they withdrew. Fielding the U-19 team was a protest, as was withdrawing from the field. Why make two protests? It diminishes the impact. If they were going to withdraw, why didn’t they field the main team and withdraw without conceding a goal? It’s nothing but a comical request for privilege. The chaos in Turkish football is solely due to Fenerbahçe president Ali Koç, an unsuccessful businessman, and his words.

Ah yes the eastern low block , Turkey and Greece never cease to defy the imagination one can have on how insanse football can get , Fenerbahce and Olympiacos threaten to leave their Leagues while envelopes are being passed behind the scenes , fans routinly killing each other on the street not even on match days even if someone isnt affiliated with a certain club just because of what city they are from , players brawling fans , owners pulling guns out on the field nvm the refs and multiple clubs being owned by the same individuals , dont even get me started on the police situations .

As a Turkish football and Fenerbahçe fan i wanna explain the situation as much as i can, i know its gonna be long and its gonna make some fanatics angry but here we go
1- Our referees and league administration are incompetent. They make stupid decisions every fricking match. There is no logical explanation for some of the decisions and there is no consistency in these decisions. But big three team has more say in our league and they pressure the administration(tff) nonstop, that affect the decisions especially in home games with 50k fans shouting.
2- About Fenerbahçe... I know i am gonna make some fanatics angry but i am a Fenerbahçe fan too so... For some of the parts Fenerbahçe is actually right. The bus shooting, match-fixing case and this year Trabzonspor match, we are right about this issues . But here is the thing, our president(not league Fenerbahçe president) elected 6 seasons ago and this year, in june, there is gonna be presidential election again in Fenerbahçe. In the 6 years we didnt win anything except an one league cup and current president is losing the support of the Fenerbahçe fans, so this chaos, this protest are his(Ali Koç, the president of Fenerbahçe) way to win the support back by creating an enemy and playing victim. As a fan i am sick of this guy, he dontknow anything about football and he is manipulating his way to win an election again. There is some decisions that affected us in a bad way but here is a fun fact: we won 33 penalties in Turkish league in last 2 seasons. What i wanna say is this: there is no evil force that wanna stop Fenerbahçe, Fenerbahçe does it to itself.
3-And about that president that knocked out a ref and the fans that wanted to beat up the Fenerbahçe players, most of us probably has anger issues so the brawls and that, those are daily struggles in Turkey haha
