This is quite awesome! Such well trained, well cared for horses! The horses are beautiful as well. Such a positive way to interact with the community. Thank you for posting this interesting video. ❤
Absolutely love, not only the protective eye shield, but also the sturdy leather strap protecting their faces. How many would think of that! Someone knows their history.
They come around Roath quite often. Saw them once at teatime in Albany Road pull over a boy racer who was up their tails and harassing them because they were going too slow for his liking
Mules. I've often wondered why they aren't used more often with police forces. they do not have the fight or flight reaction that horses have. they're sturdy underfoot they're not afraid of anything
It's absolutely ridiculous that every U.K. horse, police, rescue, crowd control, etc as well as all the King/Queen horses ridden by troops/soldiers for the daily guard and changing as well as for any big ceremony like Trooping the Color, coronations, royal weddings...it irks the hell out of me to see these horses wearing double bridles when a simple eggbutt, D-ring, or loose ring double jointed snaffle would be more than sufficient as I see so many troops and policemen yank and jerk on the very harsh and extremely long curb bit; I school 4th Level and Prix St. George dressage and once you get to 4th, amateurs and professionals and Olympians mainly use double bridles but not a long shank, and mainly keep majority of contact on the snaffle/bridoon bit. If a horse is a bit strong, try a kimberwicke or a pelham with a looser curb; and never any 3-4 ring elevator bits or gag bits in addition to the double bridles.
Yeah. Maybe they wear it in case a panicking event can happen, like the horses see daily lots of things that might spook them, but then again, the police horses are specially choose and trained to be calm and able to stay calm during stressful events, so I guess it's that they got used to it and now they don't want to change what ,,works"
Isn’t it getting a little too dangerous to ride these poor innocent beautiful horses through all those evil protestors and angry entitled immigrants???? Poor animals😢

Love the eye shields on their bridles. Never seen that on any of the mounted units I have seen here in the USA.

They learnt it in the 70s policing football matches when organised hooliganism was at its height

I bet it is due to their small stature. The horses in this video are all over 16 hands.
