  • We’re taking a first look at the Christensen Arms MCR with Guns & Gear’s Kevin “KJ” Jarnagin and Willie Vernon of ‪@ChristensenArms‬. The MCR (Modern Carbon Rifle), is a firearm that stands out for its extensive use of carbon fiber, drawing on the company’s roots in the aerospace industry. The rifle is a perfect blend of modern design and traditional elements, fitting neatly between the tactical look of the MPR and the classic sporter style of the Ridgeline.
The MCR features a hybrid grip angle, quick detach (QD) attachment points, and an adjustable cheek piece. Weighing just over 6.7 pounds, the rifle is available in multiple calibers including 6.5 PRC, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308, .300 Win Mag, .300 PRC, and 7mm PRC, catering to various shooting preferences.
We’re highlighting the rifle’s technical specifications and user-friendly features. It comes with a match chamber and is compatible with Remington 700 style actions, which allows for a wide range of accessories. The MCR boasts an adjustable TriggerTech trigger, with settings ranging from 2.5 to 5.5 pounds, and a free-floated barrel for enhanced accuracy. The rifle’s stock is made using Christensen’s proprietary Flash Forged Technology (FFT), which creates a durable yet lightweight carbon fiber shell. This manufacturing method enhances the rifle's structural integrity without adding unnecessary weight.
Practical shooting demonstrations show the rifle’s accuracy and ease of use. The MCR offers minimal felt recoil, thanks to its effective muzzle brake and lightweight design. The video also emphasizes the rifle’s adaptability, with options to change magazine capacities and adjust the length of pull using spacers. The MCR is a versatile, lightweight, and highly accurate rifle suitable for both hunting and competitive shooting, priced at approximately $2400 MSRP, leaving room for additional customizations and accessories.

@@chase7354 Very high priced rifles for mediocrity. No QC or customer service in my experience. I had several on watch on gun broker. Spoke with a seller in Utah who stated to me they had to stop carrying CA due to all the complaints. He stated CA basically had to beg them and other sellers to restock their products, that they cleaned up their QC. He also stated that if I did decide to purchase one from him and their was an issue, he would act as a liaison for me with CA. I thanked him as that was a nice gesture but candidly, it should not have to come to that, where a rifle builder won't stand behind their product and the seller has to get involved. That's nice but not appropriate and certainly not a good use of their time.

If Christensen Arms was the only production rifle manufacturer, I would only archery hunt. Thank God I am able to buy components and get rifles built to my specs. I tried to get something taken care of that was THEIR issue passed on to us, the consumer. The ultimate excuse I got on the phone, literally, was, "there's only 5 of us working." CA may previously have been known for quality but not in my experience. Their accuracy is hit and miss just like a Mossberg Patriot. And their have been numerous UA-cam videos showing ejection issues hitting scopes, carbon fiber barrels delaminating, etc. My gunsmith stated to me he has replaced CA CF barrels more than any other production rifle. This is what happens when you go down the road of pushing quantity v quality.

$2300 is too much to pay when there are other, equal, or better options available for half the cost.
