@env701 I saw def Leppard in August 8 2023 in Columbus Ohio and was Awesome it was very very loud but I had fun at the def leppard concert rock on 🤘 def Leppard ❤❤❤
My favorite song by Def Leppard. #1 even more than any other song on the Hysteria record or prior to it. This one has such a unique sound to it for being a rock track.
I never thought Steve's parts were so important in this song. But he makes the sound and pushes the song. That is truly the Def Leppard sound. Thanks a million for this one Ben!
Thanks Robbie! Yeah it's a great example of meshing together different parts of the album track to create a flowing and driving rhythm. I love how he plays the intro and verses.
A great sign of excellent musician is they can write simple catchy riffs that SERVE the song. I know lots of guitarist that can play Van Halen licks all day long but can't make 3 chords sound good or write a decent song.
It’s amazing your wearing a BC Wonderland T-shirt. In a post I read for a Wonderland video, Steve’s ex partner had posted how much he loved that song, Stuart Adamson has never gotten the credit he sorely deserves for his guitar work, from The Skids onwards.
The production on the recording of Hysteria was just insane. Its nice to hear the stripped down live versions and how they differ from the (over)produced recordings.
It is neat to hear what is being played by Steve during the live sets. It gives the song, for me as a listener, more depth to what is being played by both Steve and Phil.
With the recording quality of the Hysteria album (which was quite good) it was so layered with goodies that I've never heard Steve's rhythm part so clearly. It's like a new surprise from an old jewel. Great work. 🎸
Thanks! Some of these parts are an amalgamation of different guitar parts so in a way, they represent the album version but are also completely new too. I love that about this era of the band.
Fantastic job, as always, Ben. Your covers provide such a great insight into how these songs are structured and how the most “prominent” part isn’t always the most important. Steve loved being the guy with the little background riffs, inversions, and arpeggios that truly make these songs timeless. You get it, man, you really do.
Oh yeah! My favourite leppard song. The first time I ever saw def leppard, they was performing this on top of the pops in 87. I've been hooked ever since. Great job brother. 🤟🇬🇧
hey man, i used to watch your channel like 10 years ago eheh ty so much for this video 🤍 i'm a huge steve clark fan and you really nail his parts to a t! The nice video quality allows me to learn how to play it while jamming along. Animal in particular is a song i never found a tab or source that really did justice to steve's contributions like this video. Much love, rock on!! 🤟🤟
Been looking for this, I’ve been trying to listen to what he is doing but as usual Leppard does such a good job blending and writing guitar parts it’s hard to pick out everything! Thamks
Your covers are great! I usually learn songs by ear, but I enjoy seeing how you play certain riffs of Def Leppard songs. I've learned a lot just watching how you play the inversions. Steve was a genius. Thank you for sharing all these riffs!
Awesome play, Clark was such an underrated player, considering the quality of the the music and sales he was involved in, also someone me with a way of having his own voice on the guitar, thank you for your vid
👍🤩 I saw a clip of you and the band covering this song and I was saying to myself you so chill and cool even on stage I am so loving this serious 🎸🎧 nice work as always Ben cheers🍻😍 your journey fan always 🌹
Any Boss pedal work Ben? You are limo without a doubt 'the' best UA-cam player with respect to this genius's guitar parts - Steve's guitar parts were extremely complicated - even Viv has admitted humbly so verbatim "I still cannot play GoW and some other tracks". No there is context. And Steve Brown from 'Trixter' who filled in for Collen described Steve's guitar playing with the following verbatim quote "Steve's guitar parts were extremely complicated - they were created in almost 'little boxes' - extremely difficult to replicate". As always Ben - a delight to sit back, watch and listen. I know I have always been picky - but wish you'd do these guitar parts on a humbucker LP - again, I appreciate am being v picky. Just want to hear that grunt you can only get with a LP, in particular a humbucker LP.
Steve’s main sound from this tour came from a Randall Rg100ht, TC Electronic 2290 delay and 1210 chorus. My Boss Me50 is trying to emulate that sound but also sometimes a Rockman like sound.
If you search my channel you'll find that cover. From around 2012 to 2017 I covered most of the main Leppard catalogue minus a couple of acoustic tracks and the Yeah! album.
This is so sick, like perfect!! Can I ask what tones were you using? I've been trying to get a leppard rhythm tone and i know it's slightly wet but what were you using? It sounds great! 👌👌👌
Thanks! I use a Boss Me50 to get my tones which uses compression, overdrive, chorus and delay. I made a stream a couple of years ago about how to achieve a Def Lep type tone.
@@bwm5150 I watch you all the time bro. You inspired this old man to pick up a guitar at 53 years old and learn how to play. At any rate I love your videos and you have been an inspiration to me for many years.
@@bwm5150 Love my Adrian Smith. the Jacksons have the smoothest necks I've ever played. Youve got me seriously interested in the Charvel though. Do the play as smooth as a Jackson???????????
Steve is accenting a lot of the upbeats on that verse, which is maybe providing the weirdness you are hearing. Just a little FYI too, time signature refers to the overall beats in the bar for the song, and this is straight 4/4. Hope that helps!
@@bwm5150 Yeah, cheers. I guess the correct way of putting it would be the Steve's riffing around the time signature which is of course a straight 4/4, as you say. Once if hits the second half of the first verse, I can follow it. The first half has me stumped but I'll keep trying. Thanks again.

Nice description!!! I miss him
