I'm really trying to find the time to write. I have a great idea for a series of books, which have been in my mind for many years. And I've been researching things to write it. But finding the time is very difficult, especially the way my process is.

😂 there’s a lot of jealous losers in this comment section. You spew hate about him and his writing, but you’ll never be as successful as his worst selling book.

How to become best selling author: Pay one million ghost writers to write one book each and have each book sell an average of one copy and you have this turtle man's pathetic career.

He seems like a really lovely bloke. But I don’t understand the mass appeal to his work. He can’t write to a good level the only slightly redeeming factor is fast paced dumbed down plots which are fun. I think Coben and Grisham do this far better but I don’t understand how he has done it. He doesn’t even write his own books he’s a god awful writer. Very nice chap though nothing personal at all

nor does he, he hires ghostwriters.
he's Tom Clancy without quality control, the new shadow novel that just came out pretty well demonstrates that

I hated the prologue for The People Vs. Alex Cross. A preteen boy recording two girls having sex in a car in the woods in the hopes of selling it to a porn site. That was bad enough; but the prose was even worse. I couldn't make it past the first few pages.

Patterson teaches a Master Class?? Like Chuck Norris teaching an acting class. Sheldon Lee Cooper teaching a basketball seminar.

@@theblindwatchmaker1102 Patterson has no imagination. His characters are cliche. He presents a grand plot, but has no clue how to flesh it out. Not a writer in my book.

I 100% agree. I haven’t read him yet. I have ordered his first novel as I want to read work written by him and not by the other writers who write his books for him 😂😂

So he's not a writer, even though he has written books? What makes someone a writer if not actually writing things? I know today he doesn't write his own books, so I could understand the criticism in that context, but he did write his own novels before.
Again, what makes someone a writer? It just seems like you don't like his work (which is completely fine, not a fan myself) and therefore decided he's not a 'real,' writer, which is silly to be honest. One could use that line of reasoning on Hemingway, Faulkner, Joyce etc, who I would wager you consider 'real,' writers.
      Just my two cents, cheers.

@@matthewgordonpettipas6773 : Patterson sells a lot of books. Just like Hyundai/KIA sells a lot of cars. McDonalds sells a lot of burgers. Hemingway wrote to stay sane. Most writers write to stay sane.
