    when designing these outdoor wireless AP solutions one needs to bear in mind that birds simply love sitting on flat surfaces and at times leave their "opinion" in a form of dung. After some three years you would be amazed how much of it is there. One could design a spike against the birds or make the top sharp.

      Agree. it is also possible to more tightly seal the twisted-pair cable bushings and the grounding wire.

    It has always had a grounding attachment, but the new models have an easier to use one. To avoid static issues, I recommend you read the guide in the video description (see link).

    It is possible to install it without grounding, but then you have a higher risk of ESD damage from lightning and atmosphere static.

    More of these videos !! Split screen whilst configuring them both would be nice. What's the range?

    It is actually shocking how poorly they handle poor weather. If you need to use them in close proximity of sea shore then beware. We have to replace roughly 2-3 units every quarter. Someone quite consciously mentioned IP rating. This unit have holes, on each side, plastic parts don't have rubber fittings that would prevent unwanted water accessing unit is neither dust nor waterproof. Please avoid.

      @Yggdrasil42 9 років тому +2

      ***** Well, to be honest there are definitely some openings visible at 1:40. Though they're at the bottom of the unit, they would not be watertight in storms and could lead to problems especially in a salty environment. I have no experience with the unit, so I may be wrong, but I don't see how you can so easily dismiss that claim.

    @timg248 10 років тому +3

    If you would run the ground wire through the lower hole, rain water would not run back down the wire and into the unit.

    I work for a company, and every time it rains, the company's radios break down, and I ask the technician why, but to no avail. Until I watched this video, we realized that the connection cable had to be connected to ground.Cable earth

      I was horrified to see that, how it got past designers is incomprehensible, BUT this video is 9 years old now, one hopes the current models includes rubber grommets and seals at least.

    • @bobross-hv6dy
      @bobross-hv6dy Рік тому

      @Ressy6 hello, sxt lte 6 kit has no rubber on the cable hole and no rubber between the two halves of the main case. I'm not even talking about having any rubber around the little door that allows you to reach sim cards slots or ethernet ports.

    I have connected both the power and the ethernet cables and the device does nothing. Not even a LED blinks, nothing. I can't connect to it using IP 192.168.88.1 and it is not visible in WinBox when I clikc the three dots button to look up it via its MAC address. Am I doing something wrong or is the device broken?

    What is the use case for this device. Is it for signal boosting or Carrier Aggregation?

    • @mikrotik

      It is a wireless WiFi client device. Maybe you have a house in a remote area and want to connect the house to a WiFi access point some 5-6 miles away. You can use this device for that if there is WiFi service available (or maybe it’s a friends house )

    Since when have SXT's had a grounding wire mount?
    We have had a dozen+ of them die out on the field due to static build-up and hope this fixes that!

    • @bobross-hv6dy
      @bobross-hv6dy Рік тому

      Every device can, but the noise to signal ratio and the sole signal strength make it impossible to transfer data. Even cellular towers are not contacting each other on such big distances on lte bands

    my internet comes with this device ,i installed it on the roof.i just wonder how long it will last? and does the water enter during the rain ? can i keep something (wraping with a plastic bag may be) arround it to keep the water away?

      +grv360 i've been using it for a year now and i've noticed that internect gets disconnected frequently in rainy seasons, i don't know why, cud be bcoz of this modem or some issues from my isp side. im from india and its monsoon season now, from the last one week i have been getting poor net speed and net gets disconnection and reconnection for 4-6 times every day.

    • @Grv360
      @Grv360 9 років тому

      +Heitler Remlalfaka well ,the guys who came for installation they said it won't affect network for bad weather issues it is different from the dishtv antena.the network tower of my isp service is near to me because of that i get clear signal but your house could be located far from the network tower.there is two cpe device one is known as 2 and one 5 ,the 5 one is more powerful.

    why does it neeed a ground and what woulda connect the ground to

    • @12350752
      @12350752 10 років тому +2

      Its for lighting, lighting wants to find the fastest path to the ground, literally ground, thats why it is important to make sure you earth all your ground cables so that if lightning hits it simply avoids the electronics and disperses into the ground.

    lol use tar to seal them. how about silicon caulking instead of tar. still, would be a cheap insurance to caulk it with clear silicon when installed. it removes easily from plastic and has no negative impact as far as I'm aware.

    i was thinking abt seting up wifi a few mile down the road abt 50 mile better internet offer 90 mbs do you have any thing that can be setup for that far away cost do not mater i make it back from doing youtube upload suck hear if i can get 3mbs up i be happy

    • @SeanCaldwellvo
      @SeanCaldwellvo 6 років тому

      50 mile is well beyond line of sight. Unless you can get up over 500 feet or so on each end, you'll not have success going that distance. They need to be able to see each other.

    This reminds me so much of Wimax antennas, probably not celluar/mobile.
    But does this work only with TCP wifi transmissions / AP, or is it multifunctional? Must be perfect line of sight then for good coverage, compared together not so like as Wimax.
    Also I don't get it why they market this as 5G, when the Mobile Generation 1/2/3/4 is "Mobile end user" and not like this stationary, directional antenna based radio links, nice to see different methods being utilized, even tho the naming/marketing here in Norway is totally miss used atm.

    • @MarkoVukovic0
      @MarkoVukovic0 7 років тому
