  • in todays video we are out for hire and heading off to mow wholecrop for another contractor where a crop of spring barley lay down and the samazs mowers were called in to mow the crop and group it together to minimise grain loss. we also mow silage for the same man to put on top the pit and it was a great to get to work with another fleet.
    Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching! G'Luck

    Awesome video. I've never seen a 'whoke crop' cut with mowers. That was very cool. Gonna have to make way for those mowers to have a home on the farm now.

    reversing fan for the radiators, contractor near here had the same issues with overheating with a front mounted mower and got one fitted. I believe its the same set up used in loaders and diggers that are not moving forward fast enough to keep the rads clear. after a certain time or temp the fans will blown the dust away from the rads rather then suck it in. might be an idea for next year.

    Great Video, Goes to show not everything is as simple as is made out to be. That krone was moving sime, I know it was only Wholecrop but didn't seem to slow down any at the silage either. Nicce change.Keep up the good work and you came prepaired with knives and some homework and knwledge ragarding getting most of the grain possible.

    i've never seen whole crop harvested before. back when i left farming, and cornwall, it wasn't really a thing but always made sense to me. now i'm in the u.s. and keep on thinking the farmer over the hedge from the garden is going to do that, but no, it's always a little rye and a LOT of weeds. they move at one speed, very slow, only ever rip, rip the same way every year, put in sweet corn to sell every year, of which 1/3 is lost to passing storms. last year one of the storms was an actual hurricane. every year the kid driving is less inclined to do a good job so every year the headlands get a little wider and crop a little smaller. the fastest moving tractor on the farm is a 1940s, i think, single cylinder and is used to top dress maize. he does a little wheely at the start of almost every pass. i think it is a john deere model d.
    sorry, 8260cc, 34hp, 2 cylinder, any fuel, 3 speed, (model d).

    would a straight disc mower have been a better option? looks like ye were caught for time but surely between the farmer, the contractors and yourselves ye could have got hold of a couple of them?
    we do barley silage under sown with grass and cut and bale at the cheesy stage, same issue with using a mower conditioner so always use the simple disc mower and dont lose anything on the grain. have had to rake it in over the last few years as contractors machines are too big for a 2.5m cut, but it doesn't lose any grains. any that are lost are from the bale chopper. we let the cattle in to clean off anything afterwards anyway.

    • @nialldaly7108
      @nialldaly7108 Рік тому +1

      I'm sure because the crop was lodged (fallen down), The harvestor would loose more grain than it been pre cut, or perhaps that contravtor dod not have the appropriate heddder. Nobody dows anythjing baecause it is a bad idea, i'm sure it was the better of of what was available. Remember the farmer had to pay directly or inderectlly for two contractors. Not a decision to be taken likely unless there was a GOOD reason. My 2p worth
