Hi or if you like "Grüezi"
I never made Raclette like this! We the swiss people have an oven just for raclette... I just want yo make you guys understand, that this isn't the tratitional way of eating raclette. And only the Emmentalrr have hole inside... And fondue is a chees dip like with garlic and white whine in it...
    Beside this little mistakes,
Nice video and kind regards from Switzerland.

Fondue and Raclette meal styles are on my top 10 favorite styles of food.
We have a swanky joint here in OKC OK USA called "The Melting Pot". You can do a 1 to 4 course food and fondue experience
Just cheese fondue, or just chocolate fondue dessert or cheese and chocolate fondue dessert, plus you can add a bouillon course where you can cook a variety of meat, seafoods, and Veggies in the broth kind of like a hot pot except you keep your food on a skewer to cook instead of dumping it all in and you can add a fresh crisp salad or a cured meat platter to any of those options.
They give you several cheese fondue flavors choices, several bouillon flavor profiles, and a variety of chocolate fondue add ins to make your own twist on the chocolate. The cheese fondue comes with a vaiety of raw or blanched veggie to dip plus a nice crusty bread cut into cubes. We always add the cured meats platter to go with the cheese fondue. The We agent a boy lion and add a meat and seafood platter to cook in the broth. And we reserve some of our veggies too for the broth.
For the chocolate fondue course they give you cut banana, and pineapple chunks, apple slices, whole strawberries, pound cake cubes, brownie bites, cheesecake bites, Rice Krispie treat bites, and marshmallows to dip. OMGoodness it's so good. Amazing. However it's definitely a very expensive dinner to have as a rule. I hosted a birthday party there for my daughter one year with my three grown children, two grandchildren and my youngest daughters boyfriend who drove her to OKC from her home in a city 1 1/2 hours away from me. We only did the cheese course, cured meats and chocolate fondue, course. We skipped the boullion with expensive meats and the salad course to keep the cost more reasonable. We still had plenty with all the veggies, cured meats, bread, and cheese fondue to dip them in plus all the fruits and dessert items we dipped in rich velvety chocolate.
The biggest bonus is that with a small group you can get two or three different pots of cheese flavors, and two or three different variety of pots of chocolate to share. So you get a richer more diverse experience to enjoy. They were running some type of family fondue experience promotion at that time however I don't recall any specifics. Thankfully it reduced the price of what it would have otherwise cost to do this dinner celebration. Our dinner for 7 came in at around $200 plus a tip and that was for two pots of different cheese, plus the unlimited dipping accoutrements and two chocolate fondue pots with the unlimited fruits and desert dipping pieces, and the 2 cured meats platters. and 7 non alcohol beverages. So I think we got pretty good value on our extravagant dinner party. It came to around $30 something per person and we got full and had a great two hour dinner. I wish they had the rackllette there but they did not have that as an option. Maybe one day I will get my chance. I believe I could drink some melted cheeses they are so divine. Thanks for sharing. This brought back great memories for me. I've eaten there twice. Once with friends and we did the entire 4 course meal deal promo that was $20 something per person that had the bullion and meat and seafood and a salad plus the cheese and chocolate course. It was fab.

    • @ericsurf6

We have a place called The Melting Pot here in OKC ok. There set meals start with a fresh garden salad, then a cheese course with veggies and breads to dip in the cheese, then a bouillon course for cooking your raw meat and seafood choices, and then the grand finale is a chocolate fondue with assorted fruits, cheese cake bites, pound cake bites, brownie bites, rice krispy bites to dip in the chocolate.
You get to choose your salad, then you choose your cheese fondue flavor, your bouillon flavor, and your chocolate flavor. So Delish!
    No Racklett though.

I was just reading about Raclette, a restaurant in NYC. When they first opened, someone shared a video of the raclette and they became a viral sensation. They had to open another kitchen. They went from five to 37 employees. That melted cheese is so attractive.

As usual another enjoyable mealtime with Eric.
I liked seeing that hot cheese getting scraped off, and then I believe I spotted the device on the counter that heats up the cheese. I've seen the same device at my local cafe, which is run by a Swiss gent. He and his wife tried to explain how it worked but without an actual demo we really didn't understand. But now I think I get it.
I'd like to go to this place for the experience, and I'm guessing they could cater for my vegan wife. Even with the vegies and no dairy, she should be okay. It's just that, by the look of it cheese is such an important ingredient. So maybe I'd need to check with them first.

All Swiss food comes from its three closest neighbors, Germany (fondue), France (raclet) and the polenta and meat sauce was from Italy... that fourth dish seems to have a Russian or Slavic influence and I don’t know why that would be...

Raphael Fauquex oh c'mon it's for sure Swiss food, it's melted Cheese, dip in what ever you want, can't get more Swiss. There aren't rules how it have to be. And the "Raclette", where you shovel melted cheese from the half cheese is the top of Swiss foods :D @Ericsurf6 it's amazing how you even can eat this in Tokio, it makes me somehow happy that japanese people enjoy it too even Switzerland is so small and there are more amazing dishes in other countries ^^

Plejade hell yes, there are some rules. Just because melted cheese is involved, doesn't make it "Swiss food".
This video should be called: "trying japanese "raclette"" and nothing else.
Eating raclette in switzerland looks very different. And by the way, we eat so much other stuff without cheese.

At 5:30 could it be yellow grits? Do they sell Grits in Japan Supermarkets?

I've never seen grits in a Japan supermarket. The dish at 5:30 tasted like corn meal to me. Definitely a corn base.
