Thank you Terry for including non-video makers. Many times I don’t reply because I feel like content creators only care about other content creators. But you appreciate everyone!

No, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Those who don’t make content far outnumber those that do. They are also some of the most thoughtful commenters and passion at collectors. Have a great Father’s Day weekend.

Thank you, Terry. This non video content creator, but viewer and commenter appreciates it. Sometimes not posting videos, it can make things difficult to fit in, and feel part of the community. But I try to tell myself, we all matter here. Appreciate you putting that into perspective. Have a great weekend.

No, thank you, Andrew for all your support of me and others. It makes the videos more enjoyable when people like yourself watch and comment.

You have a great weekend too.

Thx Terry. Folks can participate in the hobby without doing videos. I also agree that the cards of my childhood are items that I cannot part with and am happy to leave them to my sons when I’m gone. If they sell them, that’s fine. I cannot.

Hi Dave! I think it is awesome that you still have the cards from your childhood. It is one of the things I enjoy about your channel. I imagine your kids will keep at least some of them because they will remind them of you.
      Have a great weekend.

Thanks Stephen! Well stated about our fellow collectors who don't turn on the camera. They are an integral part of the community and I wanted to bring attention to a few who have supported me and others. Gary (Golden Slumber) is from Canada as well. Bless those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so we can live in peace and freedom.
      Take care, my friend.

Terry, your story telling talents (God given of course) are amazing. The detail you share brings the listener on the scene. Remembering family memories like that is so important, especially in today's confused world. I want to thank you for honoring me and the others as you did. I know you explained well our collecting interactions and faith. I hope to someday add the card you showed of Gabriel. I love the 67 Topps of Yaz. Its a toss up for me with that one or his 62 as favorite. Glad you like the Blue autograph. It belongs with someone who will appreciate it. The other gentlemen, like me, must be pleased with the stories you shared of them. They sound like great guys. Thanks again and God bless.

I want to share what I can with my family, so they learn something about the people they never met but who still played a role in who they are. The '62 Yaz is a good one too. I also like his '76.
I don't know Noel well, but like you, Gannon and Gary are great guys.

Absolutely fantastic presentation, Terry. The more I hear you discuss your passion for the history surrounding the cards and magazines in your ever-growing collection, the more I feel blessed to have actually lived during the eras you visited today. The Earl Morrall story I can recall so vividly. I remember watching Earl on those Thanksgiving Day games back in early '60's when the Lions traditionally played usually muddy contests against tough opponents like the Bears and Packers. He was traded to my NY Giants after YA had retired and I had hoped the team would regain its prior dominance. Took them another twenty years till Bill Parcells and Phil Simms came along. I remember Earl's miracle run with the unbeatable Colts and watched that season come crashing down in SBIII. I did not know whether to cheer for Johnny U or feel bad for Earl. Probably a bit of both. Then in '72 the second miracle. It was like Deja vu all over again. Griese comes back to end the perfect season, and Earl quietly stays ready on the sidelines. To see all those games usually with my dad alongside on the couch was a blessing and the memories I retain I appreciate more and more as each year screams by. Thanks for sharing your cards, and more importantly the stories of the friendships you have developed through YT. Take care, my friend.

Hi Rob, thank you for sharing your memories of Morrall. You came of age during a great time in sports. Morrall had a unique career in that he was the second overall pick and never really was given much of a chance to start. He gets traded to the Steelers after one season with the 49ers and then after one full season goes to the Lions in the trade that landed them Bobby Layne. He often came through when needed. That is great you have so many memories of him. He was a classy player who fulfilled his role perfectly.
That is awesome you were able to share so many special sports moments with your dad. We were both blessed to have dads who shared our passion for sports.
I appreciate all the kind words and support you have given my channel.
      Take care

We all participate in different ways, but connecting with others is important. I collected by myself for many years. While it was fun, I didn't realize what I was missing.

    Hi Terry,
That was a great idea talking about collectors that watch your channel and don't make UA-cam videos, but still have very nice collections. They just want to comment and talk to collectors without having to make a video and I totally get that. It was very admirable for you to acknowledge them.
Listening to you drive by your childhood home reminded me of a few years ago when Mom and I drove to my childhood house and they were having an Open House. The house inside and out no longer looked the same. It was sad, but at the same time it didn't change my memories of that old house. I loved growing up there.
That's the second time we've showed the same card in our video. That Maris is featured in my video and I still need that Lou Brock!
I never knew Earl Morrell was more of a journeyman. I always thought because of what he did in 1968 and 1972 that he was a very good QB that just never got his shot to be a starter. He has an interesting story. I do think the Dolphins were so good that if Morrell had played in the Super Bowl, the Dolphins still would have won.
I love that Roman Gabriel card. I want that 1967 Yaz as well.
This was a great story and very nice of you to acknowledge your viewers, Terry. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648
      @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648  20 днів тому

      Hi Rick,
Yeah, the 1963 Gabriel is my favorite card of his. I still may get his rookie, but I like this one better.
You're right that the memories of where we grew up stay with us and are comforting but it is sobering to see how much the places we have fond memories of have changed. It is part of life.
Morrall had an interesting and fairly unique career. He played in the Rose Bowl and College World Series, so he was quite an athlete. Morrall was selected 2nd overall in the 1956 NFL draft. The 49ers drafted him but then traded him to the Steelers. He was then part of the trade that brought Bobby Layne from the Lions to the Steelers. He did start some years with the Lions and Giants and seemed to perform well. At least statistically. I plan on reading more about him. A nice card to add to my collection thanks to Gary.
I was thinking about doing this video for a while. I wanted to do it in the right way. Those who don't create content are supportive of so many channels and our passionate collectors. They just don't have a desire to turn the camera on.
      Thanks Rick!

Hey Terry. Thank you so much for your kind words. I was so moved by what you said, I had to stop the video before going on! As I've always said, there are a lot of holes in my knowledge, and I have learned so much from you and many of the other UA-cam content creators. I didn't really know that you did a lot of corresponding via email. Knowing that you do, look to hear from me very soon. Listening to you talk about your grandparents and their home, it's always very stirring to go back and visit those places. As you know, you're never alone on such visits as the ghosts are always there. You hit the nail on the head posting those 1968 Topps cards. The Maris and the Brock are two of my favorites from that set, and I of course like the Cepeda as well. I actually have three of the Maris' sitting on my coffee table at this very moment! I will email you and tell you the story behind that.
Thanks again Terry and have a great weekend.

Good morning, Gannon. It was my pleasure. Your insights are an important part of this community. I always like reading your comments not only on my channel but others as well. There is something to be said for those that don’t make videos but still take the time to watch and support others. I knew based on our past exchanges that those 68s would be perfect. I almost put the 68 Kaline in there but I wanted to see those three Cardinals together.
It is sad to see places you shared special memories in fall into disrepair, but as you wrote the ghosts are there with you. I have some great memories of family gatherings there.
Please feel free to reach out by email. That way I have yours as well. I look forward to hearing your 68 Maris story.

@tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648 Hey Terry, thank you so much again. Your words mean a great deal to me, and I will be in touch.
I just wanted to quickly comment that I LOVE Earl Morrall, who is one of the players that I collect. What an unsung hero. I became aware of him watching the Colts play the Jets in '68. Boy, do I wish they had a '68 Topps card of him. A travesty that they bypassed him that year. That's a great 1964 Philadelphia that Gary gifted you. I'm thinking maybe Gary is a Beatles fan with his moniker being Golden Slumber? ("Golden Slumbers" being one of the songs in the medley on side 2 of Abbey Road. Just a guess!)
Also, Yaz Fan, I think I may have interacted with him indirectly through Picker Jim when we were talking about Yaz Bread, which was briefly made in 1970. I think Dan said he may have had one of the actual wrappers that the bread came in. I may be wrong about that, but that's how I remember it. That autographed Vida Blue card he sent you is really nice.

      @@jga59 Hi Gannon,
That's great that you collect Morrall. He had an interesting career and was quite an athlete. I read that he played in both the Rose Bowl and the College World Series. I like his '66 Philadelphia card with Bob Schotz. I enjoy looking at advertising in the background of cards. I'm not sure what stadium they are in. I've never looked it up.
You would like Gary. He is a great guy and lives outside of Toronto. Knowing Gary, you're probably right that he is a Beatles fan.
Dan is also very thoughtful. We usually email once a week or so. I enjoy seeing the cards in his collection. He is working on some fun player projects that you would appreciate.

@tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648 Hey Terry. The photo on the '66 card with Schotz was taken in Yankee Stadium. You're looking out to the left-center field bleachers behind them. Thinking about Morrall this week and discussing him with you, I ordered a copy of his 1969 book, "In The Pocket".

I can't remember the last time I was in a 7-11 and had a slurpee, but that's where my card collecting journey started in the mid-80s. I would ride my bike with my buddies to play acrades at 7-11, buy candy & I would spend whatever was left over for packs of trading cards. I'm glad you have GREAT memories of spending time at your grandparents ❤️ Mrs. Diaz and I also have great memories of spending time with our Grandma's! My Grandma gave me money for cards and Mrs. Diaz's Grandma made her the best Italian cookies that she misses til this day! Mrs. Diaz would like you to know that she just subscribed to your UA-cam channel and will hit the like button and watch your videos. She's subscriber 935! She can't wait to learn more from your storytelling! ❤ It is also nice to acknowledge the viewers who are not content creators and are a HUGE part of this community. We always make videos with the idea to connect with individuals who do not make content! Having fellow content creators along for the ride is a bonus! 😊 Happy Memorial Day! We salute the men & women who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy today 🇺🇸

You both need to get a Slurpee for old time’s sake. 😁 They have a lot more flavors now and sugar free options. I am usually old school cherry or Coke but I will experiment once in a while. Your 7-11 memories sound like mine. I was telling my kids how there were video games in convenience stores and we would line our quarters along the top of the console. That was how we claimed our spot.
Thanks for sharing memories of both your Grandmothers. I love Italian cookies. We are of Scotch-Irish descent but my grandmother and mother both worked for a locally owned Italian bakery for many years.
I was happy to recognize a few non content creators who are supportive or me and many others. There are a lot of passionate and knowledgeable collectors out there.

Very thoughtful video tribute to those unsung heroes that keep their collective journeys private to themselves, but feel the desire to connect with other collectors just the same How Terrific that they know that you're someone they've connected with enough to want to share some photos of their cards and memorabilia with you.
Thank you for the Home Deport Garden section story. Ferns are very nice.. I took a fondness to palms a while back and even though they're everywhere here, my dad supported my enthusiasm to plant some. I must of lived on a tropical island in a previous life.
I loved seeing the 68 topps cards. I don't know why, but players in red uniforms really pop right off the card in that color. That bulletin board border just went with everything. Tom Seaver in Met's blue for example. Pure magic! They just couldn't go wrong that year
Enjoy your holiday weekend. The music of our Lives. Nice notion. The great crooners of the 40s and 50s and Blue Jay games must of been so relaxing on the sunny days after the lawns been mowed, the dogs been walked and the hot dogs are on the grill while the lemonade is chilling away.

There are some passionate and knowledgeable collectors who regularly comment. I was happy to recognize a few of those contributors whom I have gotten to know better since joining UA-cam. As you know, I don't show myself in my videos because I am a private person, so I can relate to others who don't create content for similar reasons.
It's great that your dad supported your foray into planting palms. You never know where a child's interest will take them. At the very least, it created fond memories for you.
I agree with you on the '68 cards. Some colors are particularly striking. I like the yellow circles with the red. I am especially fond of the Tigers and Cardinals cards. The Tigers team card stands out not only for the beauty of the card but also for the historic season. I also appreciate the uniform appearance of the team with their bright white uniforms.
I hope you have an enjoyable Memorial Day. We have much to be thankful for, and today is a reminder of that. You evoked a pleasant and relaxing image in my mind when you mentioned hot dogs and lemonade. We plan on having hot dogs and hamburgers today.
      Take care.

Great memories, really brought me back to memories of my own with my grandparents. My grandma was all about Lawrence Welk 😊
Just like music for me, cards take me back to a time in my life. When I see cards from 89, it takes me right back to that year. When I see cards from 78-87, it takes me back to my first year collecting, and opening packs from my LCS... I'm so glad I had an interest in the "old" packs, such as 78, 79 Topps. I enjoyed your comments about collectors who comment on your channel, that's great. The comments can be one of the most rewarding parts of creating content. Maybe THE most rewarding part.
Seeing Units, Morrall, and Griese together, so colorful, great cards all together like that 👍 Morrall sure was a great QB to have on the roster. Marino looks great in your collection! And wow, that Blue Auto looks great!! Thanks for sharing buddy!

      Hi Brian,
Your comment about Lawrence Welk reminds me of when my mom told me that my great-grandparents used to love watching that show every week. One of the biggest draws of collecting is being able to reflect on your past and bask in the memories.
Gary sending me that Morrall card inspired me to take a closer look at his career.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Mike, I wanted to show my appreciation to them. Frankly, I think between content creators I get the sense there is often a quid pro quo going on when it comes to viewing content. Not with those who genuinely enjoy you and what you're trying to do but there are drive by commenters hoping you'll watch and comment back. Most of us get them. For the commenters that don't make videos, their reason for watching is authentic.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend. Good luck if you have any baseball games this weekend.

I’m honoured to be part of the TJMac community Terry & glad Mr. Morrall fits your PC criteria although you could probably weave a great story about a 50% off discount card 😆. Earl did alright for a career backup & most accomplishments by current backup QBs would pale in comparison. Great memories of the grandparents & old time AM radio.

Hi Gary! I hope you and the family had a great time in Vegas. Morrall definitely fits right in with my collection. I was looking forward to showing it with the 68 Unitas and 72 Griese because of key role he played on those teams.
I am glad you enjoy when I share memories. It is such an important part of my collecting. I enjoy reading about why we collect. It is a complex question that has been extensively studied by smart people. It has enlightened me when I look at channels on UA-cam and how they go about their purchases.
Thank you for all your support and friendship.

Great way to shoutout those in the community who are not content creators but play such a large role! The beginning of your video brought me back to my childhood. As a young kid I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house. I remember going back as an adult and thinking how much bigger it was in my memories. My grandfather was a huge Dodgers fan and there was always a game on the Television or radio. I am a big Sinatra and Dean Martin fan because of my parents, the cool thing is my three daughters have grown up listening to them
    And are big fans themselves!
Live the 63 Roman Gabrielle card.
He was our QB when I was younger, and since his passing I have been thinking that I need a card or two of his in the collection.
Have a great Holiday weekend Terry!

Hi Steve! I have been wanting to do a video like that for a little while. I just wanted to do it in a way that captured how I feel about them. Gannon, Dan and Gary are three of the nicest and most thoughtful people in this community. Noel is someone who recently reached out shared pics of cards from his collection. There have been some others, but I didn't want the video to lose meaning by making it about too many people.
Yes, a Gabriel will look great in your collection. Go on to football card gallery and pick the one you like best. My favorite is the 63 but there are many others that you may appreciate. I was sorry to hear of his passing. He was a heck of a quarterback. It's unfortunate that he didn't have the post season success but he was still a great quarterback.
I am glad you appreciate the memories I sometimes share. It is a big part of the reason why I collect, and I want these videos to be around for my family. Sinatra and Dean Martin are timeless voices and will be around for generations to come. Nice to hear your daughters enjoy them.
Thanks Steve for sharing your memories as well.

Funny, the more I watch your channel, the more I feel connected to you. Some interesting stories I have related to this video. I lived north of Miami from about 1971 - '74 when I was 3 to 6 years old. My very first sports memory is everybody in the room erupting in cheer cuz Czonka just carried five guys downfield. Later around that time my mom's boyfriend presented me with a cloth napkin from a Holiday Inn where he just saw the Dolphins and got them to autograph it for me. Czonka is on there along with a few others including Earl Corral! Should be during their undefeated season cuz Morral is on there. It's my first piece of sports memorabilia and I still have it although every year it gets more faded. In '75 we moved back to outside of Chicago. My mom was single and I stayed with my grandparents a lot. They lived down the street from a 7-11 and I grew up on Slurpees and still enjoy them (Coke is ALWAYS out, why don't they run two Cokes???) My grandpa was always out puttering in the garage and always had the radio on listening to a ball game. He named my uncle Michael so he could call him Mickey after his favorite player. After I make a video revealing my massive sports mag collection, I'm going to put out a video of a guy I did an interview with who is trying to get his deserving father into the baseball HOF. I'm gonna ask for guys like you and a couple other UA-camrs for help in that effort. Can't wait for you to hear the interesting story and to mention it!

Thanks for sharing your memories. It’s funny the thought and experiences we hold on to. I took family vacations here and there as a kid and they were fun, but it was the simple pleasures like hanging out with my grandpa or getting a Slurpee, a pack of cards and a quarter for an arcade game that have greater meaning.
That’s great you have a napkin signed by some of the Dolphins. Csonka was a beast with the distinctive nose guard that protruded out from his helmet. Great memory you have of him.
Let me know when you do your first video. I did sub to you.
Thanks again for the great comment.

Hi Terry! What a great video and idea to give shoutouts to those who do not make content. Well, it was great until you brought up the Colts losing the Super Bowl, haha! Dan’s the only one that has commented on my channel that I know of and I’m grateful he spends his time watching what I put out. I enjoy hearing about his 70 football set and the other cards he’s adding.
We don’t have a Home Depot but I’ve been spending many Saturday’s at Menards with my son trying to get the yard into shape. Also, sounds like our grandparents house looks about the same. I park for work about a block from where they lived. Makes me sad everyday I walk by it.
Great addition with the Cepeda. He wasn’t with the Cards too long but his time in St. Louis left an impression with my dad.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Dan is a great guy. I have enjoyed sharing in his collecting journey. He has built a meaningful group of 70 Football cards. I was happy to see he added the Tombstone Jackson rookie.
Yeah, the Colts Super Bowl loss stings. On the bright side, Morrall helped them have an incredible season after Unitas went down.
It is a shame to see the houses that meant a lot to us growing up fall into disrepair. I am sure your grandparents were like mine in taking pride in their home.
Keep making wonderful memories with your family. Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
