  • so i’ve been pretty MIA from youtube this last month. truth is i’ve felt really unmotivated with university, so it’s been tough to get through the workload. mentally it took its toll so i didn’t want to force myself to do anything else my heart was no longer in. essentially i needed some self care, some time away so i could come back and make more content as this is what i love to do. lol also i’m joining the British Army full time as a regular solider. more info to follow… see you in the next video…

    Hi Cheslie, I started watching your vids when you did your first assessment day for the army! Its weird and somewhat comforting to see someone else have the same mindset and the same feeling to join the army!! I'm a 17 girl and i have been thinking about it for a while now so hearing someone else describe my exact thoughts is so nice.
    I never really saw myself going to uni and I'm also very unsure on what i want to do for a career, the army appealed to me and i am constantly watching shows, videos etc on army life and i love it (even the not so nice bits!). I'm definitely not the fittest person out there, nor the bravest but something about the sense of a family/group I have always loved watching.
    I also don't know anybody in the army so these videos are really helpful for insight on what its like and every single one makes me want to hit that apply button. I am so happy and proud of you that you decided to become a regular, hopefully I can do what you are doing too. Would love to see more of your experiences. Thanks :)

      If the Army is something you really want to do then go for it! Never let someone else’s opinion or negative experience hinder your perception of something you’ve always felt like you’ve wanted to do. The army is the same as any other job, some people love it, some people don’t. You don’t need to be super fit before joining the army, just make sure you’re a decent level where you can near enough keep up with the level they’re expecting of you. No one turns up to basic training like Mo Farah! Good luck with whatever you choose to do. And by the way, you don’t have to be brave or confident, they’re all personal qualities you’ll improve on in training.

    As someone who works closely with the military, and having now watched many of your videos, I would recommend you give serious consideration towards joining as an officer. You might well enjoy being a CMT for a while, but the options available to you as an officer to build a more fulfilling career long term might better suit your attributes and personality (as much as I can glean them from your YT persona). I would also not discount becoming an officer in either the RAF or RN. Either way, Officer or Other Rank, I’m sure you’ll succeed and I wish you the very best of luck in this new venture.

      i'd love to join as an officer in the future for sure!

    • @TheJEMster70
      @TheJEMster70 3 роки тому +6

      If Officer is something already on your possible future list, there is (I suggest) not much to gain from spending time as a private/corporal first. Everyone joining Sandhurst is treated the same regardless of previous mil experience. Ask to speak to the RAO at your reserve unit or, if you have any family friends who are officers, sound them out about the pros and cons of joining as an officer after being an OR first. Also, there are Officer webinars advertised on the Army careers website which might be of help.

    • @rob5694

      Seriously, join as an officer. You'll experience a greater quality of life, job satisfaction, and career prospects after. Your education, which you've worked so hard for (and spent money on), will be seriously underused as a private soldier.

    • @TheJEMster70
      @TheJEMster70 3 роки тому +2

      Sorry, one more thing. If you were to join first as a soldier and then try for officer later then that process is outlined in a document which you should be able to access via Defence Connect here: jive.defencegateway.mod.uk/docs/DOC-529605

    Chelsie -- If you're going Regular, you need Sandhurst. One route might be for you to Commission first, then ask the Army to sponsor you to do a Nursing degree, and then you could return as an Army nurse, probably at least a full Lieutenant or even a Captain. Ask around. Without the Nursing degree, I'm not too sure how you would fit in as an Officer in the Medical Corps without some sort of professional medical training.

    Hi I just thought I’d comment as your video popped up! I’m currently a student nurse in the army and I would really recommend that. A lot of CMT find that when they reach a certain point it’s kind of a dead end and it doesnt give you anything for the civvie world. CMT is just basic life support , it’s good for experience first however. A lot of CMTs have now transferred to nursing and there’s loads currently now in my intake who wished they started out as one

  • @Liam1991
    @Liam1991 3 роки тому

    Good on you for deciding to go full-time! I've been thinking the same, but I don't think me or my girlfriend would cope with me being away for so long. I'm hoping to start alpha in June, then I'll see how I feel from there. I've been told by my Sergeant that we have a lot of opportunities to do other training courses and sports... Plus, we might have to opportunity to go on 6 month deployments to Cyprus over the next few years. So maybe I could use those opportunities to somehow make the army a full-time job. I know what you mean about doing PT adds on extra time for the reserves. I'm training 4 times a week at the moment. It sometimes feels like it takes up most of my day, as I'm cramming in strength training, running, and stretching into each session. I currently don't have a civilian job, so it gives me the flexibility to focus on my training. Not to sure how things would work doing my training alongside working, and training Krav Maga once that reopens. Plus, my Sergeant wants us to start tabbing over the weekends once things go back to normal. On the subject of you transferring from the reserves to the regulars, we had a guy who attempted to join the Grenadiers, but decided to come back to the reserves. He was basically told once he passed out, he would then have to do pre-deployment training and then go to Iraq for 9 mouths. He didn't want to be away from his family for that long, so he decided to come back to us. From what he told me how he transferred to the regulars, and then back again is, he had to do some paperwork with the Sergeant, then he had to hand his kit in, and got his start date. When he left the regulars, he had to hand the kit there back in, and had his contract terminated to reenlist for the reserves. Then he came back, had to some paperwork, got his kit reissued, and got his training date for the reserves.

      thank you! that's great that you've got some good opportunities lined up. i'd be looking at another year before i could most likely do things like that.
      yeah tabbing really eats into the day. it's a good 3/4 hours gone once a week. so feeling you when you say you basically do phys and feel like the day is gone 😂
      good luck with Alphas!
