    Wherever you are in Canada, their new schools have such interesting architectural designs! Better than just the square boxes where I'm from. And looks like a good amount fo new technology in their building systems too, which is nice.

    14:50 a Notifier MPS 950B pullstation with what I assume is a duel action attachment (the part you lift up) protected with a cover....
    Basically a "triple" action device

  • @bluetheta
    @bluetheta Рік тому +2

    At our college they test the alarms/detectors while the building is occupied (they have someone on each floor on fire watch); the "horns" even have a special message that announces: "The fire alarm is being test. There is no need to evacuate the building. This is only a test." It is neat to know how you know what area is in "alarm" if something does happened. I do not know the panel type but it seems to have a wireless network (special type not normal wi-fi), allowing the tech to see each device annunciate as they use the device testing stick/spray. It makes it easy to diagnose a failing device. The reason for extra "loops" is the school might need to upgrade its lockdown system if/when the codes are changed after what happened in the recent past.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Рік тому

      Sounds like likely a simplex system the loops in the school have nothing to do with lockdown that is always done with PA system the engineer wanted one loop per floor and each stairwell etc. that is why there are seven loops

  • @maxdutiel
    @maxdutiel Рік тому +2

    So does the school use Distech controls for its Building Management, or are those UNITOUCH touchscreens just for the nLight system?

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  Рік тому +1

      Yes there's some touchscreens for lighting control can't remember the name, we had a course on it but it is slipping my memory nLight sounds more familiar

    • @maxdutiel
      @maxdutiel Рік тому

      Actually I don’t think that is the case since I saw different a different thermostat. The school having 7 loops though is interesting, my building has 6 loops, but that is because for the most part every classroom has at least 1 detector, be it smokes for the most part, and then there are some heats in the science rooms, and then the hallways have smokes as well.

    • @maxdutiel
      @maxdutiel Рік тому

      @@nics-systems-electricit’s definitely nLight. I recognized some of the other WallPods, which are basically Acuity’s name for the button pad. Part of the reason why they are nice is that you only have to run cat5 or higher to those interfaces, as well as the motion sensors as well. And in my district, in some of the schools the classrooms have a wallpod that has dimming presets, and another that has 4 different buttons set for different temperatures of light. It is a very interesting system.

    Interesting that the lid switch on the duct detectors don't put the zone into trouble. That seems like a faulty setup since the detector won't function as intended when the lid is removed. Or is the code for this different in your area?

Now you see schools being built with this sort of brutalist design which doesn't seem healthy for developing children. I could imagine this monochromatic color scheme could cause people to feel depressed over time.
