  • Stay tuned as we are making plans to improve the design. Homemade concrete mixer is able to mix one yard of concrete at a time. Run off tractor power take off (PTO) that turns a large auger bit inside a propane gas tank. This video shows a brief explanation followed by a clip of it in action. We are refining the design so stay tuned for updates.

HI, Please do some more filming the next time you use it. I was thinking of making a small pan mixer but yours looks better and less complicated. I want to pour concrete from 5 feet in the air into tubes so am thinking this on a loader with an oil motor. Great stuff. regards, Jim in NZ.

Great project. Truly inspired. I think it has the makings of a mixer and pumper in one unit. I'd like to know how your "new and improved" model is coming. I need to make 100 cubic yards of adobe for a museum addition, along with 40 cubic yards of concrete. Something like this...yeah

Hi, I have been planning to build one and love this design!!! How do you make the front section that hooks to the PTO shaft rotate without flopping all over?

I really like this. What diameter is your auger?
A safety grate made of welded rebar would be some thing I would add. It makes a good place to bust your cement bags on.

I had that same thought when I was viewing. Something like the Mudmixer that has plate steel you can drop the bag on to cut it open, but also ensure no one falls in, lol.

I'm planing on copying your mixer. How close is the auger to the bottom of the tank.
    Thanks, Dan

Is there any updates to this? I am needing to do some concrete, and I like this design more than the Mud Mixer they sell now, and would seem to do more volume

Does the concrete stiks on the uper wall?

Very cool. Is the shaft hard on the bearings? I assume it wants to drive itself forward under load? Sound advice to your helper at the end.

Add a grate please, like Realdiehl said below. You can make it hinged to fold out, a couple cross pieces and a cattle panel on top is plenty, with a triangle to break bags. Don't make me post a link to rescuing a guy out of one of those...

Do you happen to know what size tank this is? Looks about like a 330 gallon tank. I have a 500 tank sitting around thinking of using it.

Thanks, guys! Coool! I beenn thinking about pumping concrete with a grain auger. Got any advice?

I'm not real familiar with grain auger. Concrete gets real heavy so it would take a lot of power, specially if your pumping up hill. Also can be a pain to clean out. I am working on a simplified version that I will post soon. Let me know how it works out for you.

We tried that once. It effed up th gearbox on the auger then no concrete moved but not before the entire unit was clogged full. It was quite pleasant and enjoyable dismantling the auger screw and all the compacted concrete. I dont recommend it but hey, maybe you'll have better luck.

Use a superplasticizer designed for pumped concrete.....its like magic pixie snot that makes concrete awesome !!!! loads of good posts on youtube for info and sold via ebay n amazon.
Concrete pumping kit needs to be robust and requires horespower......
