He was decorated and conferred the highest military merit medal by the South Korean government with the TAEGEUK AWARD on July 27, 2016 for his heroic feat in the BATTLE OF MIUDONG (MURI), which was dubbed as the first battle won by Filipino soldiers in a foreign soil. Aside from the BATTLE OF MIUDONG, my Daddy Max also fought in the BATTLE OF YULDONG, where it was proudly announced that a battalion of about 1,000 soldiers vanquished a militia of 40,000 Chinese communists forces. Unfortunately, he passed away on January 29, 2022 at age 99. We are all proud of him as hero not only in the KOREAN War but also in the SECOND WORLD WAR where the US government then awarded him a SILVER STAR MEDAL for his heroic feats!

Sam, You might be crying because your history writers were so socialized by the Americans that they did not write about those facts in your history books so that millennials like you should know the facts in your history.

My grandfather was an Artillery Sergeant during the Korean War. He was Filipino but he was a volunteer in USAFFE, he commanded a couple of artillery fire squads during the war. He used to tell us stories of how cold it was and how they would shell positions, move forward, shell some more, and all of this in a foreign land they had no claim to. He said "The Philippines was the second strongest military power back then and for us to be in the war was very important to the protection against communists in Asia". He is truly a hero and he never boasted about his accomplishments and was always hesitant to tell us stories. He lost most of his hearing due to being close to the howitzers during the war, he passed away two years ago. Sgt. Alfredo T
One thing that gives me so much pride as a Filipino is the bravery of our soldiers and health care workers. They never back down even if their lives are in danger.
This is really a true to life story came from the one who was really there in the battlefront facing thousands upon thousands of enemies and yet emerged victorious.Imagined you are there and everykinds of bullets are flying all around you.Its like a miracles where the hands of our Almighty God protected them from any harm from their enemies.
All this should be told in Korean school Learned the history of Korean war.. The countries behind their Freedom and beautiful country now.... I hope when the day come that they will be part of the Filipinos lives....

Philippines had the second most powerful military in Asia at this time (First was Japan). The Soldiers that were sent were elite of the elite. they were volunteers that went straight to the front line. it's crazy if you think about it lol.
Sir in the year 1950 our Army is bot that well equip because it suffered to much lost during WII it was during President Marcos that Armed Forces of the Philippines became 2nd in Asia, if I am not mistaken...Thank You
Great grandfather served in Korea and told me that it's a "we" not "them" or "they" because we were united and those who served is the pride of the people, You would understand that if you were a Filipino.
My millennial Korean students do not know about this fact in their history because they were so socialized by the Americans that they obliterated this fact from their history books saying that it was the Americans who fought the war for them not knowing that it was the Filipino Ranger Scouts who fought under the American Allied Forces. So, every time, I had a chance to mention this truth, I tell them that my Grandfather was a soldier during the American occupation in the Philippines fought during the Korean War and lived to tell the story. He is dead now but he told us stories when I was a little kid. My own Grandmother, his sister attested to that fact as well.
I felt emotional watching this. Maraminng salamat Sir Max sa pag react sa video ng kabayanihan ng mga sundalong Pilipino. It made me proud as Filipino, and that it gave me more respect to our soldiers and I think I even become a better person now. Absolutely, Philippines is a love country. We saved many lives the Jews and the boat people from Vietnam we opened our door for them when no one in other countries took them in. 💚🇵🇭✌
That's why Gen. McArthur was able to say: " Give me 10,000 Filipino soldiers and I will conquer the whole world". Maybe that statement of the U.S military general was a kind of overstatement.
My Grandfather Antonio Famoso was born in 1900. Before the outbreak of World War II, he was an accountant in a Mining Company, the Elizalde owned mining corporation. During World War II he volunteered to become a Philippine Scout to fight the enemy. He eventually commanded a platoon of Filipino soldiers and guerillas to find a spot for MacArthur's safe return which eventually became Palo, Leyte in October of 1944. He was awarded and became a Colonel in the USAFFE. He died peacefully in 1993 with us in Cebu City. We love you Lolo. 🇵🇭🇺🇸

that is true, my grandfather is a wwII veteran and also did the death March and died on his hometown at Mindanao. me also his grandson was ex-philippine marine sgt.. we do remember those heroes who fought for S.Koren people. we Filipino love to serve everyone in this world..
Nice thank you. This is how I understand these: Very strategic bombardment support which was detailed by the Filipino recon actually help sliced the fortified area. By the time hand to hand combat, the Chinese and North Koreans were already demoralized. Taking that strategic area turn the tide back to the side of South Korea and allies. It was team effort of all allied nation but the Filipinos were the front line and also the last group to stay and watched until South Korea got there country back.
These Filipino Soldiers were veterans of WWII and fought against the Japanese since December 8th 1941 until Liberation in 1945. They have tasted defeat against the most brutal, tough, resourceful, and fanatical soldiers in the world. The Imperial Japanese Army. This is an army that would move through any terrain on earth and kill everything in their path. The Imperial Japanese Army came second to Ghengnis Kahn"s Golden Horde Mongolian Army. The Filipino's are grateful for the American Liberation that when the Korean War broke out. They sent their finest soldiers into combat. The Filipinos knew what defeat was like and it was not very nice. They knew many North Korean soldiers have been trained and fought in the Imperial Japanese Army. The Filipino soldiers were professional soldiers using American weapons and tactics. Majority of their Officers and NCOs were former US Army Philippine Scouts, the elite divisional light infantry of the US Army before WWII. When they got into combat in Korea these men with kick ass leadership made them fight like veterans in early combat.
sir thank you for appreciating the sacrifices of my countrymen in that war...to most of us Filipinos, if you think of us as your friend, we treat you as a family, worth fighting for...

oh my proud Filipino heart ♥ why am I crying 😢
be super proud!
Sam, You might be crying because your history writers were so socialized by the Americans that they did not write about those facts in your history books so that millennials like you should know the facts in your history.
Compose a poem about it!
Philippines is indeed for God, our source of Filipino Strength.
Good job bro refreshing and remembering our heroes of the Korean War where younger generation don’t even know it happened. Watching from California.
Yes sir!
Chinese think that we afraid to them. Think them twice, we figth for other country to be safe. Much more in our own country. For us is an honor " Ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo. After all we are going to die. Die for the country is really our pleasure.

Yes, we can fight against Chinese if we have the same weaponry. We do not have enough military equipment. That's the sad thing.
If no computer arm for battle, we can fight face to face.
That time Filipino was fighting for others country and freedom..
Imagine if they were fighting for our own motherland and freedom?
True Hero's that should always be remembered.

Sgt. Alfredo T
This deserves a series or a movie. This war should never be forgotten man.. A very moving documentary indeed..
One thing that gives me so much pride as a Filipino is the bravery of our soldiers and health care workers. They never back down even if their lives are in danger.
Filipinos soldiers are one of the badass people in the world since world war 2 guerilla warfare
Proud to be a Filipino.... We may not have the advanced weapon nor modern warship to win the war but we have the Biggest Heart and most of all....WE HAVE FAITH IN GOD ALMIGHTY who is always there to guide and protect us. We always care not only to our fellow Filipinos but we care to all those who are in need.... PEACE NOT WAR.

Philippines had the second most powerful military in Asia at this time (First was Japan). The Soldiers that were sent were elite of the elite. they were volunteers that went straight to the front line. it's crazy if you think about it lol.
Sabi nga sa Pearl Harbor na movie, " no one beats the heart of a volunteer".
Talo lang tayo sa gamit..Pero Kong parihos pa ang gamit nila at sa saatin iwan kulang..ang gamit kasi sa at in noon bigay lang nang US.
Sir in the year 1950 our Army is bot that well equip because it suffered to much lost during WII it was during President Marcos that Armed Forces of the Philippines became 2nd in Asia, if I am not mistaken...Thank You
this should be in Korean's History books! they should know the truth not only whites and turkish force save them!
we stood ground while the puerto ricans and turkish ran with their tails between their legs
@@polliescracker yeh, when the dust has settled, it was the filipinos who never let korea down, lol!:)
@@polliescracker we? How old are you?
My own Grandmother, his sister attested to that fact as well.
salute the pilipino hero!proud to be pinoy
Opo
I felt emotional watching this. Maraminng salamat Sir Max sa pag react sa video ng kabayanihan ng mga sundalong Pilipino. Thank you so much sir for refreshing and remembering Filipino hero soldiers during Korean war , thank you so much for your effort , im very very much proud of them ...........
PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO
It made me proud as Filipino, and that it gave me more respect to our soldiers and I think I even become a better person now. Absolutely, Philippines is a love country. We saved many lives the Jews and the boat people from Vietnam we opened our door for them when no one in other countries took them in. 💚🇵🇭✌
That's why Gen. McArthur was able to say: " Give me 10,000 Filipino soldiers and I will conquer the whole world". Maybe that statement of the U.S military general was a kind of overstatement.
The Filipinos soldiers is braves and intelligent tactics in combat.we proud as Filipino specially all our soldiers we proud of it
Yes, po, they are brave and badass!
Appreciate your interest of Philippine history and understanding filipinos.. We are hell of a fighter!!!
Filipinos are truly spartan that Era!!!! They didn't know the definition of death. I humble honor even only to watch this documentary of our great heroes in Korea. I feel them really how brave they are.

My grandfather fought in korea, im proud of it...
Yes,max, filipinos are brave and a true friend.Thank you for a good reactions.
The Philippine Army are the greatest warrior all over the world, they possessed a lot of skills and braveness, war are the games of Filipino Soldiers.
Bro I’m glad you post this I never knew we have involved in helping South Korea.we love peace and Democracy
Yes pilipino soldiers are really tough With Honor and dedicated for their duties !
sir thank you for appreciating the sacrifices of my countrymen in that war...to most of us Filipinos, if you think of us as your friend, we treat you as a family, worth fighting for...

Thanks also for allied countries who help and specially to U.S. for the equipments. I really proud of my blood, they fight for the freedom of our neighbor country and did not be shaken by thousands of enemy.
