I feel like if we stop chatting shit and start being honest with each other then the answer is always gonna be "The poor, fat, ugly or socially off-key ones were disliked at school" the same as they are everywhere else.
Ever since I started learning Japanese, these videos have started taking no less than three times longer to watch... Not complaining though. It's actually a great thing!
To give context why Train Otakus are hated in Japan is because of how extremely obsessed they are with their hobby to the point that they would destroy properties, both public and private like decade(s) year old trees, fences, etc, if they think that its disrupting their view of their photographic shots of the train. I think one famous European foreigner who owns a restaurant in Japan got trending on socmed when he tried to "troll" the train otakus on getting a perfect shot by biking along side the passing train while waving at them, they confronted the guy to the point that they are close to beating him down. There are also video recordings of them hurting children/students who just happened to passed by, unknowingly "disrupting" their view while the said kids are just walking. I respect Cathy with all my heart and I respect all hobbies but if you destroy things you don't own and hurt people just so you can indulge in your hobby then its better for that thing to not exist at all.
I think they're hated more because they are socially awkward and doesn't communicate nor make friends easily, i know someone who is a train otaku from japan that's why i can say it
Serious question.. how is Autism viewed in Japan? Not to say that all train enthusiasts are autistic. But a common trait of autism is to have a hyper focused obsession whilst having poor social functions. ALSO not saying that all Otaku are Autistic. I’ve heard mental health isn’t often discussed in Japan, so I wonder if Autism is also “taboo”. I imagine there are many autistic people in Japan who are being labeled as otaku.
@@pockytomodachi just like how suicide aren't talk about often as a mental health problem, autism is the same. Japan is highly known for maintaining the status quo of being a "peaceful" country, so anything that may disrupt the norm in their society is deeply discouraged. They just deemed train otakus "with" autism as a highly socially awkward person.
I can definitely qualify as a train otaku (along with many other types of otaku to be honest lol), but I am a collector type, not the kind who would go dangerous places to take pictures and stuff like that hahaha
All most all the elderly men in my family are train otaku's some even working in trains and a public transportation museum. You're definetly not alone and nothing wrong with loving trains
: I can see why some people don't like railfanning. It is because some of the rail fans may be categorized as foamers - people who are too enthusiastic about trains in a negative way. These foamers do give railfanning a bad name - in both real world and "online" world. I myself like trains, especially freight trains. Counting the number of cars/wagons, how many locomotives in the consist, the makes/brands of the locomotives, horsepower rating, tractive efforts, learning and conducting safety measures near and around rail tracks, and listening to the high power diesels in actions are the things that I like. And when I talk or write about it, some of my friends will look at me with the "Are you crazy?" or "What a nerd!" or "Get a life!" kinds of looks. So, yes, I can understand why some people don't like railfanning. It's just a matter of preferences - and passion... 😊
Train otakus are often seen as being aggressive nasty individuals. There was a viral video of some guy being cursed out and verbally attacked by train otakus when he accidentally “ruined” their shot of a shuttle train of sorts.
Because it is. "Yankee" is a borrowed word for people in Japan who act "American-ish" or suave or rude or who otherwise don't fit within the typical Japanese social group.
Train otaku!! NOPE! 聞いてセクシーKathy Cat! I know it’s your job. But don’t lie to us! Train Otaku have NO HOPE! I’ve got some rope they can borrow and speaking of falling from trees.

Probably not the poor and fat but the others yes

Was not expecting to hear that Cathy of all people had a train show on the NHK.

That guy didn't troll intentionally, when he saw all the cameras around the corner he was surprised so laughed and waved.

One thing I like about the US is that lizards never fall out of trees onto us.
Depends highly on the state
So you’ve never been to Florida?
They do in Florida
Yeah cuz that really matters to me when I'm trying to get home still alive /hj
Lizards don’t fall from trees but they do sneak into your house 😅

The first time I took a train from osaka to kyoto, I knew instantly I loved it. I wanna be a japanese train conductor one day
3:54 Cathy's disspointnent to Train Otaku not being populer
When I was in the army living in Germany trains was my thing . Love trains.

Trains are very cool
The otaku filming cab view rides on trains are super cool in my book.
Lovem trains 🚂
Surprised anime otaku are liked. It was very uncool when I was in school. I can understand somewhat why they would dislike idol otaku.
Trains. I am proud.
Ja-Pawn...
TRAINSSS
I'm not sure why anyone would WANT to be a train Otaku. I mean, what's the point? It's just a train. Are there tree Otakus? Lizard Otakus?
There's at least one otaku for any random thing you can imagine, at least here in Japan
And why car Otaku is OK for most people ? It's just a car.

Real
Trees are useful because they can make train photography look more scenic, but rope is useless as it is unrelated to trains.
It was part of a shameless plug for a show that no one watches
