For those of you wondering what the sign said... I'm not sure of every word, but here's what I was able to make out:
"Will you please sing happy birthday to my dad, your biggest fan, Travis ... from WV. We love you!"
For those who wanted to know if he sang Happy Birthday:
No, he didn't, but he received an even bigger gift. Also, Caleb's parents were originally seated in the nosebleeds, but they were upgraded to front row, just like me, before the show began. All in all, Caleb and dad were beyond happy with what happened, so I call that a win! May God bless him and little Caleb! 👏 🎸
I had the honor and privilege of meeting him backstage twice back in the 90s and this guy is one of the most genuine people I have ever met! It was my late fiancee's birthday that night and she told him how we slow danced on our first date to her favorite song and so he dedicated "The Dance" to her and the spotlight stayed on us in the crowd as we slow danced in the aisle. She's no longer with me after a car accident took her but that memory will live on forever... I can still see her beautiful smile while we were dancing. RIP Babygirl

Haha! 😆 This was from a concert I attended in Raleigh, NC during his world tour about 5yrs ago now. I met up with a nice couple at the hotel, and we ended up sharing a ride to the concert. What's even better is that we all got upgraded to front row seats while sitting in the nosebleeds talking while most folks were still buying booze and merch! I went to 6 shows on that tour, but this one was my favorite! I got upgraded and got to see him give away his guitar to a boy just a few seats away from me. One of the best nights of my life! 😁❤
I wish all people had the kind of heart that Garth has.

How awesome was that. Garth Brooks is one of my favorite Country Music stars ! Trisha and Garth are awesome people and from a equally awesome state. Love them both. I love so many of his songs....The Thunder Rolls and If Tomorrow Never Comes are just a couple. One about a unfaithful husband and the other about losing someone.He covers the experiences people go through in life.

I dedicated Garth singing The Dance on my facebook wall to Randy Travis who appeared on TV special after his strokes and his first chance to sing to the public. Love Randy Travis and many prayers that he improves. Even named my rescue kitty Randy. I saw the tears in Garth Brooks eyes as Randy sang, wish the real song had stayed on my facebook but Garth removed. But both are still very much in my heart
I also suffered a stroke at age 25 and I'm still recovering. It really touched my heart to hear Randy Travis sing at his induction to the country music hall of fame.

It was super awesome of Garth to give the boy his guitar but I believe he has a half dozen or so backstage & I also believe Takemine keeps him supplied for free (good advertising, after all)! Still super generous! I wondered why he didn't leave the strap on it but I'll bet it probably has sentimental value to Garth! I KNOW the guitar will to the kid (& his dad)! WOW! What a guy!
My wife will tell you my kids will tell you how much I love my six guitars and believe me they are expensive guitars any man who would give away his guitar is one heck of a good person god bless people like this

I have never liked country music at all!! I stumbled on this video and was really amazed. It was very nice for him to do what he did and I am a fan of him as a person now.
He’s definitely a genuine guy. You’d be hard pressed to find somebody who has ever met him that would have anything bad to say about the guy. How many other artists step away from the spotlight (at their height) to raise their children? Can’t think of any others. How many spend off time with their own charity they created and working for Habitat for Humanity? Not many. How many have stories left and right about them helping strangers yet not expecting any public recognition for it? Absolutely nobody but Garth Brooks. The list goes on and on, he’s an inspiration we all need in the world, especially these days.

Not a fan either of country music, but Garth does this stuff all the time. So maybe it’s time to listen to some of his music because if it is 1/2 as good as person he is - Then it would be the best music ever.

You know, it's funny you say that, I've spent my whole entire life hating country music, used to make fun of a friend who used to listen to it all the time, I'm born and raised Cali, have always been proud of that fact, but I got stationed in Georgia, now keep in mind I was in my mid 30's, still brand new to this Army thing, but I hated being there, it was hot, muggy, and the bugs were like airplanes, plus there was nothing around, they only had one Target and it was in Savannah, and it took like 45 minutes to get there, and it was only one exit away off 95, like I said, there was nothing around.
Plus it didn't help that my roommate was from Conway Arkansas, plus my co-worker listened to country all the time, he got me into clubbing, but we'd all hang out and it was nothing but country music, not to mention all the other country boys in the battalion, can't call them red, but you know what I'm saying, necks. When I was by myself it was always heavy metal, classic rock, or I'd just switch channels, but I hated country music when I was there, I didn't start liking it until I got home. Well they had this highway right outside the back gate called 144, that's how you got to 95 and Savannah, but it was a very long and boring drive, nothing but trees, trees, and more trees, I'd actually start to fall asleep driving, in the middle of the day because it was that boring, but I remember the hot summer nights driving down that road, got both windows rolled down, feeling the breeze on my face, the smell of the Georgia air, and the silence, I'd turn off the radio just to listen to it, you'd hear the frogs croaking, you'd hear the wind blow through the trees. it was just a peaceful quiet you don't get from the city.
So I get home, I'm working security at a well known computer company, I'm driving a vehicle around an empty parking lot, late at night, it was warm, had the window down, and it was quiet, just me and my thoughts, and I was flipping radio channels just randomly, when "Troubadour" came on the radio, and all of a sudden I was transported back to Ft Stewart Ga driving down highway 144 on a warm summer night, I mean, it hit me, hard. You see, I missed the military, I never should have left, I miss the structure, not paying rent, it was the BS I didn't like, but that's when I got hooked, I was able to go back to a place I never should have left, but it just brought me back to a different place and time, and the second song that made me start listening to country music was "The Thunder Rolls", I heard those two songs almost back to back, and it made me appreciate country in a whole new way, the music and the life.
