ERRA: Cure -- ALBUM REVIEW

- With their second album on UNFD, the progressive metalcore heavy hitters ERRA return with their sixth studio length album, Cure. With a new guitarist, a deeper journey into what their self-titled album accomplished, is this a solid return, or a disappointing outing into the technological and hypnagogic?
My favorite tracks on this album are: Rumor of Light, Idle Wild, Blue Reverie, Wish, Glimpse, End to Excess, Pale iris, Wave.
My least favorite track on this album is: Cure.
OST: Undertale OST/Toby Fox - Ruins
Intro by my lovely partner Near!

Have been super excited to cover this new ERRA record! What're your thoughts of it?! Be sure to let me know down below your opinion on it, as I could see this one being a bit polarizing for fans and newcomers to ERRA. But for now, cheers, rock on, stay heavy and have yourselves a fantastic rest of your day or night, depending on when you see this!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
My first visit to your channel, I was searching UA-cam to hear what people thought about Cure. You have a great way with words! The review was an easy listen.
Much appreciated and thank you very much! Glad to have to you here!
Solid review! I liked the album, but Alpha Wolf’s new album came out today too and I have to say I enjoyed that one significantly more. Any plans to cover it?
It's on the list to check out! Haven't gotten the chance to listen quite yet but definitely want to! :) You got me hped
I never really got into ERRA back when I first heard about them years ago, but I feel like this album has finally got me on board the train! I really like the record; it’s very mature.
Liked this album quite a bit even though i wasn't the biggest fan of the singles. I guess it can be my favourite album of the year until imminence next week
SOO hyped for that Imminence record!
Albums the definition of a grower and sommet that works better if you dont go in expecting the self titled and take it for what it is as a more stripped backed vibey experience
I Agree with everything this dude has said , and seem to be awe some just unsubscribed from metalbirb I will subscripe here
imo it had a few songs that didnt have enough distinguishing points where if you listened to them in order you couldnt necessarily tell it went to a different track. some people like that, i myself didnt feel the magic. i did like blue reverie and slow sour bleed but as you said, cure wasnt the greatest opener and made the experience a little dull.
That's genuinely so true, honestly. That was my biggest issue with the entire thing was some lack of cohesion in a lot of how they 'experimented' here. I think overall Erra's always going to scratch a certain itch than others and I tried to judge this standalone, because compared to anything pre-UNFD, I think it does pale a bit in comparison.
I've been with era for a few years now, but to be honest?... their new stuff after Neon just isn't it for me personally. Their older albums, Andromeda, Impulse, Augment, and Moments of Clarity were definitely their best work. Their new stuff is good, don't get me wrong, but it's.. it doesn't have the same soul, and it feels like they're trying to go radio, which I guess isn't inherently a bad thing, but the way their older stuff was made was with incredible talent and passion, their new stuff is no where near Augment standards.
I personally loved this album but I can’t help but say something’s just kinda off about the sound of it.
Personally, I didn't find this record as appealing, but this could be since, so far, I find Erra somewhat boring (I've only listened to the debut album and this album to be fair, as well as a few singles outside of that). I also feel that both Periphery and Northlane have them beat in the departments of djent and atmosphere.
Perhaps I'm more accustomed to the wilder side of metal, and I do enjoy bands that can experiment and play around with their sound wildly, but I just don't get that vibe from Erra. One day I'll get their sound, I have faith.
Ooo, if you want to dabble more in the atmospheric edge, check out Neon/Drift If you want more of the djentiness, Augment. I love both the bands you mentioned and am a huge djent fan and still Erra just, kicks ass against so many albums. Definitely may not be everyone's cup of tea but they've always been a favorite of mine.
And that's totally valid. I do think Erra isn't super 'wild' or zany in that way. They aren't too unrestrained much of the time and play a much more calculated and measured type of metal
My disappointment with this album is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. I always thought Erra would never let me down. I was wrong. This album is a good generic metalcore album, that's it.
I'm a huuuuge Erra fan to the point where I named my daughter after them. First of all Erra isn't a Djent band! This album is a Djent metalcore album. Wheres Jesse's vocals in this album. He hardly sings and when he does its more like a whisper! And wheres Jesse's tapping, those catchy ass riffs that I love so much about Erra. This band has lost it this album, I'm very upset. Definitely their worst album to date.
Erra knocked it out with the choruses. Nearly everything else was incredibly boring. Speeding up most of the album by 10% would've helped alot.
