    Damn, I saw this technique on a workshop tour at Dior but never thought you could recreate something like this at home.
    This is giving me IDEAS!
    You are amazing and I hope people tell you often enough because you deserve it ❤

    The tool could be done for the pleat size that you want, my 1cm pleat is just an exemple. For the size of the cardboard you should start with, you calculate 3 time the depth of the pleat X the amount of pleat you want + of course an extra 3cm at the beginning & at the end. The tool doesn't have to be that big because you could always pleat part of your fabric wait until it's cold than move it to do some more.

      Hi Diane, When measuring the card to use for a 1cm pleat board, is it the exact length and width of the garment that it is to be used for x 3? For example I want to make a pleated skirt, will it be a the total length and width of the shirt x 3? Or do I base it on a half pattern since I cannot cut the pleat on fold on fabric or can I? I don't know if my question makes sense.

      Use synthetic fabrics not the ones made with natural fibers,

    • @shadowjewel
      @shadowjewel 4 роки тому +5

      I'm planning to work with natural fibres and the only way I can think to make them stay after washing is, after ironing the pleat in, is to sew right along the very very edge of every fold to lock them in place permanently. It's obviously a lot of work but well that can't be avoided with certain looks like this if you want it in natural fibres.

    • @tomjerry505

      I saw on another video that the best fabric is polyester, natural fabrics won't hold unless we use starch, I'm not a starch fan

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  5 років тому +1

      Hello Manar,
      I dont think it's necessary to make the tool to fix your skirt, I would just spray a little water and place the pleat on the pressing board following what is left from the original pressing, and pulling both end, stabilize with pin. Than press "cook" using a wet pressing cloth over.
      Remember to wait until it's cold before moving and do the following section.

    How long did it take you to make that tool?

    • @DianeDezieltoolfully
      @DianeDezieltoolfully  5 років тому +1

      Hello Stonytina
      Yes it take a little long to make the tool, but after you have it you could use it for many project.
      When I discover the technic I found a conpagny that sell them already made, "Perfect pleater" but I want it right away so, I start with a little one, I try it and it was so fun to use, that I didn't mind the time needed for the big one about 45 min..

      Hello Manisha,
      On synthetic fabric, It stay like the permanent pleat you see on garment in the market.
      But I always suggest you test before doing the real project. and remember to press for long time with a pressing cloth to protect your fabric, wait until it cool down, move the fabric and continue.
