I respect you for making new martial art for low budget clubs, that's very nice. I've been trying to modify HEMA ruleset for low income armor builds myself. Syntethic swords are a great great choise, main pro is that they have weight/size similar to real ones, but larger area of contant, so it doesnt slip inbetween plates on gauntlets that much, and simply gambeson can dissolve lots of of it's force.
Synthetic Swords is our starting point, for beginners. Get them to learn to fight safely before introducing steel. But after years of training with steel, it is good to go back to synthetics, just for the speed.
have you considered using eye guards for the helms? they are this perforated steel sheets which are bolted or screwed behind the eye slots to minimize risk, also bars are fashioned in this way although those are usually welded. Great video!
Yes that is something we have considered, Some of us do have security mesh behind the eye slots. I have had eye protection for the last 8 years, but have never had a sword go there. The only time it has come close is when fighting with someone from another club. The main idea is to have an affordable martial art that people from a lower incomes can take part in. Our ranked members that fight with steel have proven they have the skills to fight safely.
"Wer nach get hawen der darff sich kunst wenig fräwen" - Meister Liechtenauer. Perhaps you should upgrade your defensive equipment and return to a realistic system of medieval fencing like Liechtenauer or Fiore. Because that sure aint that.
Yeah, you are right. However, this is a sport with its own technique, very well explained by the way. Perhaps you should learn to differentiate between styles and purposes regarding fencing and leave a constructive comment next time.
If I go to an Aikido class I do not kick or punch people, If I go to a Taekwondo class I do not start using BJJ moves or Jodo throws. Each Martial art has their own style and so does ours.

Yes we welcome visitors, you will have to sign a wavier form and use synthetic swords for the first few lessons.
You should consider learning armour fencing and get properly equipped before making videos. -_-
