I really enjoyed looking at all your palettes. My current obsession is the A. Gallo signature palette which I just purchased. In my collection are Schmincke special edition palettes, a Winsor and Newton palette, an Aloha Watercolour palette and I have started making a Roman Szmal palette. There are so many wonderful brands of watercolours out there it’s hard to choose. Great video thank you l
@@SketchesnScrubs I haven't been able to watch any of your videos lately, I just came out from hospital of pain chest and short breath, they did every check of heart and it was stress attack . well i am fine now, ready to see all your videos !!😂😂
I have almost as many sets as you do, plus a lot of dry media like colored pencils, pastels, charcoal. I really need to go on a no buy 😂 Please, please use your beautiful Sennelier set, it’s just begging to be shown some love 😂
I highly recommend creating a spreadsheet for your paints. I have about 600-700 paints with 50+ different brands in my collection and having a spreadsheet on Google that I can access on my phone is incredibly helpful both in keeping track of what I paints own and knowing where in my palette they are.
There’s nothing wrong with using or not using something as I can tell they bring you so much joy just looking at them!! I know if I having a rough day I can go get out my art supplies and feel so much better very quickly and forget about things and it also gives enough of a break to put it all in perspective…. Worth every penny spent
Lovely seeing all those different watercolor sets. Though I do have to say, I get anxious of the thought of having to use all of them. I have four, one of 40ish colors, one of 20, one 12 and one travel kit of 6 colors. And that is already tough to decide which one to use. My bigger set is a big mush of all kinds of different colors and brands that I liked and threw together. Same for my travel set. The 12 are Schminke granulating colors which I am kinda too scared to use haha. And the 20 were full pans that were on sale from I think Rembrandt with 75% off so I could not resist. I do not have a particular set that I would like to see you use. I just enjoy coming along for the ride and being inspired by your wonderful creations.
Let's see... for my palettes, I have my Daniel Smith, Mission Gold, Kuretake, two very worn-down Prima Marketing palettes, some Reeves paints I use for coloring books, and a set of Master's Touch watercolors I was gifted. I also have the Autum and Winter set of Holbein Gouache. As for paints I'd like to see you try to use more, I'd have to say the Supervisions. I recall some tests of them stating the color completely changes in the tubes after a year or two (but not in pans), so it would act as good encouragement to see what wild things you can create with it.
I have soooo many paints! Sennelier, DS, MG, White Nights, A Gallo, Old Holland (yes!), Schminke, QOR, Da Vinci, PWC, Kuretake, Winsor and Newton, Jackson’s, Holbein, Roman Szmal, MaimeriBlu, Paul Rubens and several smaller set of handmade paints from small Etsy shops. Too much! It’s an addiction, but there are worse addictions to have for sure. 🤣😂😁
@@SketchesnScrubs my favorite brand right now is schmincke, but I try to spend time working with each so that maybe I can use some up. It’s so much though! I think it’s the crafter in me LOL.

I only have 1 set of watercolours now since my 1st set kept going mouldy. I got the mungyo watercolour 12 half pans pastel I really love them and I got them on sale too so bonus. I really am hoping to get a Winsor & Newton field box oneday, paint is just super expensive in Australia and I think I would be very scared to use them because of how pricey they are. 😅
I have no idea what the ingredients are in these paints but they where very chalky. I had the Artisto 48 set, I had the small blue tin Because I thought it would be easier to travel with. They weren’t really in pans either they had this glue dot that stuck a cube of paint to this plastic holder so I couldn’t just take them out to change the order of them which annoyed me. I do love the extras that it came with, the water brush, normal brush, drawing pencil and eraser I use all the time. I did convert the tin to a sort of travel brush and pen case I just took the plastic out. I don’t really know anyone going to the UK atm, I wished I was into watercolour when I went to London but that was ages ago. Saved up for like 2 years and went when I was about 11 years old. Keeping an eye on a few places to hope for a sale so it’s $50 Aud instead of $100Aud. Some places can get to $200Aud.

I just ordered a 2 tube set of Super Vision from Amazon and got it yesterday. It is so neat to play with, for sure. I got 1 pinkish and 1 purplish. On my palette they both started looking like the same color after I started using them, but there was some slightly different breakout colors on the paper. But they’re so much fun and I plan to get more. I have some of the Schmincke super granulation colors too. Woo Hoo!
that was so fun to watch thank you!!! i have the five color set of m. graham and much like your sennelier paints, i am just not ready to open them yet!!
I have a pocket cotman set, Sonnet 24 set, Kuretake 36, Saemi pearlescent set, W&N professional field box, White Nights 36 set, White Nights 12 set, Mijello 24+2 pure pigment set, Schmincke 18 tubes set, some 10 or so W&N professional tubes plus few Hollbein tubes and few odd pans. Recently I started buying individual tubes rather than sets because I have realised I have plenty of primaries and instead of trying basic sets of various manufacturers now I only add to my collection individual pigments and I don't care much about brand. I am currently having a cart with 10 or so granulating colors waiting for the right moment. I pick lightfast paints that seem appropriate in price. When I deplete my Mijello set I will probably buy another. Those 24x15 ml tubes at that price are great deal. I am currently saving because I just bought an IPad and have to pay off my monthly payments before getting anything else. I had a bit of a spree again last month, I got Neocolor 2 and Albrecht Durer sets, as well as some paper and few books. So I decided to concentrate on using the stuff I have instead of always running for the stuff I think I want. But have to say Neocolor 2 are fuuuuun 😀
The sennelier set is beautiful..I have the small starter set of their paints that I’ve not yet tried other than to swatch. I also treated myself to an A Gallo set with my birthday money, but yet to try that too as it was so expensive that I don’t want to waste it, but it’s such a waste not to use it, so I’m going to break open my birthday 100% paper and good paints soon…you should do it too xx
@@alinatr2693 they are beautiful paints with a lovely texture and re wet so easily..however they are expensive and I feel my art needs to improve before I will use them.. It would be so nice if there was a community where you can trade different art supplies,(for example different sets in a series)because let's be real no one needs that many colors😅 I started to sell my unused/rarely used art supplies on ebay😊 One day I want to buy a A Gallo 12 pan set,but for now sadly It's not in my budget😞 I have the lukas 1862 48×half pan set,a handful of schmicke watercolors, the paul rubens metallic set and a few of jaxon watercolors 😊

Oof. Tim Holtz said it best today I think, when he said (more or less) that creative makers tend to be whole collection focused...the whole idea of I want that but I want all of that in all the colors, etc...and I see that in myself and I see that in a lot of amazing creatives...I have probably 2 whole collection pallets (and 1 handmade collection pallet from Skrim and 1 from Culture Hustle) , then maybe 3 or 4 partial collection pallets, and dozens of individual colors from 6 or so manufacturers. Then there's some guache, some acrylic, dozens of inks (water based, alcohol based, and acrylic based), soft pastels, watercolor pencils, charcoals, graphites, both alcohol and water based markers, etc etc, oof. Like. Really. 🤦🏻♀️ But as multimedia and assemblage artist, I actually do touch all of it in the process at some time or another.
i would love to watch you use the roman szmal watercolors as I am really interested in getting them 😍 I have 6 palettes I think abd most of them are custom, the only set that I got is the cotman 45 half pan sets which I got as a present and got me into watercolors🌺
I have 5 (thinking about a 6th and a 7th) watercolor palettes. 2 prima confections (classics and decadent pies, but I don’t know where they are) 2 sets of kuretake gansai tambai paints bc I bought one and received another as a gift, and a pink Paul Ruben’s set… bc the pink is pretty. I also bought 5 pans of cornflower blue bc I thought it was so beautiful. Have you ever considered buying handmade watercolor paints? I’ve never tried them before, but the art of soil and poemsaboutyou seem to have wonderful color selections. I’d like to see Schminke used up! I want to know if they’re the top tier they seem to be.
@@SketchesnScrubs Hello, thanks for the reply! ♡ The first palette I was thinking of getting is the art philosophy complexions set bc I paint a lot of people and get tired of mixing skin tones, plus it’s so cheap! Student grade but tempting… I was also thinking of getting a custom Van Gogh set of paint from poemsaboutyou, the lovely owner of that store set me up with a list of paints that he used in his paintings so I’m very tempted by that as well. Thanks for answering, I’m glad you’ll try them someday!! I hope you’re having a good week too! ♡
I'm just wondering if you did end up picking one to use up! I'm trying to decide the same for myself. I want to narrow down my collection, not keep growing it haha I already feel like a hoarder. They're all so pretty though it's impossible to resist!
Hi! Only just found your channel. I am on 0 palettes as I've not yet started... I've never used watercolours but go to my first art group tomorrow locally. I'm leaving this comment here so I can come back in 12 months and say how many since now 😅 I think the van gogh palette looks great and compact for a complete beginner so I might look into it. X
@Sketches.n.Scrubs hi! Well timed comment as I've just finished at the group and had THE best time. I'm in the UK so I'm going to look in to those. I used a really horrid paint set and terrible brushes BUT I loved it none the less. It definitely will be something I invest in some bits. I'll carry on watching your channel for tips and enthusiasm. Thank you 😊
The green box by Paul Ruben, it's almost painful how much I want it! 🙈 It's SO beautiful! The trouble is that I don't need the paint in it, but just want the empty box. So I'm stayyyying awayyy!
@@SketchesnScrubs I know what you mean, you don’t wanna waste it, I’m the same in some ways 🤣 I worry about missing the chance to use it and ending up wasting it 😭🤣 probably bc of my ocd
I do the same, I take inventory of supplies to remind me that I have plenty to be happy with and don’t “need” more. Although, I *really* want to try Roman Szmal and more Schmincke. I think Schmincke and Daniel Smith are my favourites. The Sennelier pans are great, but their tubes are too sticky and don’t dry enough to use in my travel palettes (nice for home though). I have made lots of custom palettes from tubes of paint (MaimeriBlu, Daniel Smith, Holbein, Schmincke, QoR… plus M Graham and Sennelier in home palettes). In terms of ready-made palettes that I’ve purchased with half-pans: 3x Daniel Smith (24 pan / 12 pan), 1 Winsor Newton (24 pan), 2 Sennelier (24 pan / 18 pan), 1 MaimeriBlu (12 pan), 1 Qor (12 pan), 2 A Gallo (12 pan), 1 Stoneground (14 pan)). I think that’s it… and explains why I’m not ordering any paints!! For the palette you plan to “use up”, I think you should choose that contains the colours that you really want to explore and learn… the ones you’ll most want to replace and continue using after they’re gone. For me, that’s a custom Art Toolkit palette with a combination of Schmincke and Daniel Smith. I just love ALL the colours and feel I could explore and paint just about anything I wanted with them. Have a great week!
@@SketchesnScrubs I'm selling off a lot but the ones I am keeping are Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Winsor Newton, Da Vinci and Roman Szmal. I don't like QOR it fades, Schmincke I like a few of their colors but not many. The super granulating colors are fun though. And I think A Gallo is overrated it's streaky when dry. Lukas is chalky. I'm selling all of the student grade they are not worth it. I decided not to waste my money on low quality paints anymore just because the palette is cute.
when I see your paints still in the package I wonder if I want to cry or laugh. I have a feeling you/your family went through a financial struggle in the past so that might making you a bit intimidated with expensive supplies.
@@cjenkins8785 I watch Sketches for some time and I know her struggle with actually using expensive supplies. It makes me a bit sad that she has this break that stops her.
One day I want to buy a 12 half pan set of A Gallo, but for now It's not in my budget...do you think they are worth the money??
@@alinatr2693 they are beautiful paints with a lovely texture and re wet so easily..however they are expensive and I feel my art needs to improve before I will use them.. I want to do a landscape with them as the blues and greens are gorgeous so yes one day if you can afford some of your favourites then try Jackson’s who sell them in individual pans
@@SketchesnScrubs i got two gift cards for christmas, now I have to choose my colors ☺
It would be so nice if there was a community where you can trade different art supplies,(for example different sets in a series)because let's be real no one needs that many colors😅
I started to sell my unused/rarely used art supplies on ebay😊
One day I want to buy a A Gallo 12 pan set,but for now sadly It's not in my budget😞
I have the lukas 1862 48×half pan set,a handful of schmicke watercolors, the paul rubens metallic set and a few of jaxon watercolors 😊
Hi, I'd love to see you use the sennelier, as I'm very interested in them. I now have 4 palettes since we last spoke, lol. Sorry I've not been around, have had covid for 8 days. I hope you are doing OK! Oh, and I want to try the m Graham too. If I get any, I can send you some xx
I hate to add to your obsession, but you have to try the A. Gallo watercolors!
Jackson’s home brand watercolours are senniler relabeled
i love your roman szmal palette, i really need to get a box to store mine in
Haha, yes. Master the student grade then use the good stuff with confidence 👌
i would love to watch you use the roman szmal watercolors as I am really interested in getting them 😍 I have 6 palettes I think abd most of them are custom, the only set that I got is the cotman 45 half pan sets which I got as a present and got me into watercolors🌺
@@SketchesnScrubs oh thank you definitely will check it out 😍
I have 5 (thinking about a 6th and a 7th) watercolor palettes.
I couldn’t begin to tell you how many brands and palettes without going to count them….lol
You use what ever you feel you are in the mood for…
@@SketchesnScrubs 😂😂 It's good to know I'm not alone in this! And thank you for the encouragement! It actually helps! 😅🙏 Xx
I have 10 watercolour sets and my main artwork isn’t with watercolour! 😮
I will say in my defence my art supplies have been collected over many years. And the allure of different mediums is always tempting
I think i have 10 half are small ones
MVP……I have 20..I love white knights
I’ve read comments and someone told me that Jackson’s watercolors are by Sennelier. They both contain honey so it’s possible. 🤷🏻♀️
@@SketchesnScrubs exactly. 👍
I couldn’t buy a nice set and not use it 🤣 I don’t know how you do it
@@SketchesnScrubs I know what you mean, you don’t wanna waste it, I’m the same in some ways 🤣 I worry about missing the chance to use it and ending up wasting it 😭🤣 probably bc of my ocd
30 different pallets.
I have a feeling you/your family went through a financial struggle in the past so that might making you a bit intimidated with expensive supplies.
not that I am judging, just something that came to my mind.
@@cjenkins8785 I watch Sketches for some time and I know her struggle with actually using expensive supplies. It makes me a bit sad that she has this break that stops her. I do not judge, it only makes me think she went through some hardships because she tends to save the good stuff for later. I tought she overcame this feeling by using the happy mail, but I see there are still unopened supplies. No judging, just a tought that came to my mind. It's both comical and a bit sad.
Katarina, yes, each artist has creative differences.
