    From the Targum Pseudo-Johnathan:
"But it was on the way, in the place of lodging that the angel of the Lord met him, and sought to kill him, because Gershom his son had not been circumcised, inasmuch as Jethro his father-in-law had not permitted him to circumcise him: but Eliezer had been circumcised, by an agreement between them two. And Zipporah took a stone, and circumcised the foreskin of Gershom her son, and brought the severed part to the feet of the angel, the Destroyer, and said, The husband sought to circumcise, but the father-in-law obstructed him; and now let this blood of the circumcision atone for my husband. And the destroying angel desisted from him, so that Zipporah gave thanks, and said, How lovely is the blood of this circumcision that hath delivered my husband from the angel of destruction!"

It definitely gave me food for thought, I am now wondering if it wasn't intended for Moses to give his son (as in, with circumcision) quite the thought. Thank you 🎉

Today, God is not killing anyone.

I wonder if there is also a connection with the future slaying of Pharoah's firstborn and the shedding of the blood of the passover lambs. I don't know - do you think there is a connection?

Yes of course. That’s the plain meaning of verse 23.

The whole passage is suspect; since when does God fail to kill anyone he wants dead? I see it rather as a test of faith like the one God gave Abraham, the angel was there as a visible reminder of the price of disobedience, and would have killed Moses for disobeying God except that Zipporah interceded and circumcised the child, whereupon the angel left. In the sense that it was she that obeyed God as opposed to Moses, Moses in fact failed the test...

@@ICU2B4UDO My bad, I do not see the connection. If you would be kind enough to expound on your post, perhaps I can discuss the matter with you?
