Lost Angels was great. Seen it in theaters back in 89. I always had trouble finding a copy on VHS then DVD and now Blu-Ray. Just like Pump Up The Volume (1990)
Return of Swamp Thing was actually a lot of fun to watch, though Jim Wynorski is a very different director than Wes Craven. Switching between films from mild horror to overwrought comedy doesn't always work, but Wynorski seems to be taking the proceedings seriously, which is a change, but I liked the movie. Dick Durock continues to shine as Swamp Thing, and I've always liked Heather Locklear although I thought she seemed a little lost in this film. Louis Jourdan is still good as Arcane, but it doesn't look like he's having as much fun as he did in the first film. Ah well.
Roger is right about Lost Angels versus Swamp Thing 2. He holds each film to its own standard, within the confines of its own genre. You can't compare Gone With The Wind to Swamp Thing because they're entirely different genres and aimed at entirely different audiences
Eh it can also get confusing when someone asks what they should see and they say well Lost Angels was a better movie but had a higher bar and didn't quite get there and Swamp Thing was worse but had a lower bar and did. Most people wouldn't get it and would ask someone else what they should see
Exceptional episode!

The Christian Slater movie?

I never knew a Beastie Boy was in a movie.

Gene and Roger are really irritated with each other here, which is quite fun. Getting It Right sounds really interesting.
That's why they were the best. Like an old married couple, they knew how to push each other's buttons
Lost Angels was horribly underrated
.....there was a Beastie Boys in 1989??? I saw him in the Equalizer a couple years earlier...
they use the name Los Angeles as its title and add a 'T' for the former and cross the 'E' for the latter
I continue to lose a little more respect for Ebert's choices as time goes on. I really think his "thumbs up" were for sale.
