Not quite enough explanation to be useful for me. What are the 3 taps? I can only guess they come in a set meant to be used that way, with exactly the same thread pitch, but going deeper each time?
After the chamfering and first start up using hand double check that piece and the tap are perpendicular then use the tool for the tap and the first thread instead of using the tool to avoid swinging and to prevent the start up damage.
Q about measurements. What is the ratio of hole size to screw size. For instance, if I want to cut a threaded hole to accept a 1/2" bolt, what size pilot hole would I drill? I am assuming something smaller than 1/2". Is that right?
Correct. The exact formula for the hole is: core hole diameter = thread diameter - thread pitch. Blog here: ruko.de/en/blog/how-to-cut-an-internal-thread Here is the PDF with the overview for metric threads: ruko.de/assets_ruko/downloads/RUKO_thread_tabel.pdf
Hello Bazz, You can find out the diameter of the core hole in our blog (link is in video description) including a PDF with all diameters ( ruko.de/assets_ruko/downloads/RUKO_thread_tabel.pdf ). The diameter of the twist drill for tapping is calculated: Tap diameter - Thread pitch = Core hole diameter Example using the M8: Core hole diameter = 8 mm - 1.25 mm = 6.8 mm Hope we could help you. Have fun threading.

Hello Anu Gila, Yes, it is possbile to cut an internal thread on a car cast iron block by hand. Please check out our hand taps: ruko.de/en/products/hand-taps Taps made of high speed steels (HSS) can be used, but HSSE-Co 5 (with a cobalt content of 4,8 - 5 %) is better. Hope we could help.
Yes, it will also work. Just make sure you break the chips by turning back a third turn (as shown in the video). Also please don't forget to use coolants and lubricants.
Hello Farafaddia, You can find the diameter of the core hole and the screw size (e.g. M10) in our blog (link is in video description) including a PDF with all diameters ( ruko.de/assets_ruko/downloads/RUKO_thread_tabel.pdf ). Hope this helps.
Hello MrBoomtheroom, Thank for your question. With 3 taps, you get a nice clean and more precice thread with not much effort. Single-cut taps (1 taps) are usually used for fast and "dirty" cuts - if you don't have much time. It's also harder to cut with them because you have to cut more material at once. Hope we could help.

Thank you so much. You've done me such a great service. Major solid to you, buddy!

simple and educative..
thank you !!
Why do you check with a tri-square? The tap is going to follow the hole. Checking angle is only necessary when cutting external threads with a die.
Perfect, was looking for the right sequence to use 3 taps... 1 ring, 2 rings, no ring...
You start with the tap with the least number of full threads at the top of the tap and work your way to the one with the most.

Wonderful demo! Is it possible to do internarnal thread only by manually, with no drill machine, which u do before hand drill.
Hello! We are sorry, but you have to drill a hole with a drilling machine beforehand.
What about info on what size whole to drill for size of thread? M8, M10 etc

Why 3 diferent taps? Whats the difference between them? Thanks

@@RUKOGmbH Thank you sir.
What did u spray ? Is that necessary ? And from where i can get this tapping set?
Can we cut an internal thread in a rod using this method ?
and do you have any tips for doing that
Thank You
iv tried like 3-4 times threading a pipe. imposible to get it straight..
Cool vid, it's Tri-square though.
technically it's an engineers square as it is made completely out of metal, a tri square is used for wood, and the base is made out of wood.
And it's useless using one if no explanation is given what to do when you're off.
My set has only one tap per size not 3 will it still work ?
Yes, it will also work.

You did not specify the screw size in mm(international world wide standard) matching the drill bit size.

the try square cannot ensure accurate perpendicular tapping
I need to do this on PVC. Same process?

By hand? Uses a drill stand ha ha

Useless video, no info about measurement....
lol
Are you always so reasonable?
Yes always.... If you are talking about only engineering, otherwise....
