- Stanier Class 7P 4-6-0 No. 46100 'Royal Scot' hauling The Bognor Belle on the South Coast main line between Shoreham-by-Sea and Lancing on Saturday 21st October 2017.
‘The Scot’ came into view some 35 minutes late as it made the slow crossing of the River Adur at Shoreham approximately 2 miles away. Steam is rare on this stretch of the main line but the appearance of ‘The Scot’ is much rarer, it not having been in the South for many years; there were apparently some concerns over its gauging. From a personal point of view, it was my first sighting of this superb locomotive in over 50 years.
We just avoided the rain but the gale force winds (Storm Brian) made sound recording virtually impossible until the very last minute! Apologies for the amount of camera movement, even with a tripod - that was the wind too!
Hope you enjoy watching, Bob Kershaw.

I'm not sure what this means, but thank you anyway and I hope you enjoyed the video. It was actually one of the most difficult to film because the wind was so strong and I didn't have a remote microphone. A bit disappointing because steam is so rare on that stretch of line. Best wishes, Bob.
