Well done Billy and Darren , top scousers ! Great Filming Bill, loved seeing Billy Fury at the dock in all his Glory, ( talented south ender ) sure one of the liver birds winked at Darren ! Second Bigest port in the British Empire she was, and watching this.... you can see why ! again well done Lads.
That was great billy , you got some great shots of the city in there, thought I knew Liverpool like the back of my hand but that was proper opening the curtain on old Liverpool, great job 👍
Liverpool is very similar to Birmingham in its Victorian architecture lad. Always loved liverpool & my dad was a Union man, he never had a bad word to say about the folks of Liverpool, in fact he loved there militantcey
Good stuff Bill and Daz. I've only been to Liverpool once and really enjoyed it, greatly historic place. I went to The World Museum when i was there which i really enjoyed. If you aint been Bill have a look down.
The one time i went to Liverpool to get my passport last minute, i was pleasantly surprised at the architecture in the city centre. Lots of history there
Snap I used Chester VRO basically dvla office who were like a iron regime Got told Liverpool see it all and are easier to deal with so went Liverpool by the liver buildings there , first time I’d ever gone as a adult and you can’t not admire the buildings it’s like London but with smack heads and rough arses around
Another banger Billy.. Darren seems a great guy. Never been to Liverpool ( southerner ).. Some great historical buildings, and that boozer looked sound.. I can see 👻 Billy. Love to go in there. Landlord was a sound fella. Thx for sharing Billy 👊🏽
I really enjoyed this vlog, for me it was the best yet, next to the one you did with Margi Clark. I live on the Wirral, dont get over to Liverpool that often but i really want to explore for myself this area you and Darren showed us, especially that museum. I think it was all one area, where the Liver birds are? Thank you for doing this, really found it fascinating
Darren talking about his dad working in Guinness Exports in Norfolk Street. His dad was a great man loved by everyone Terry Smith. His grandad Charlie used to come into Guinness too..he was a funny little man.
I've only been on nights out in Liverpool and I'd definitely recommend a weekender there to anyone who's not been , but this is another side of Liverpool that we never get to see.Brilliant Video Billy .Be good to see more like this 👍
I really enjoyed that Bill and Darren cheers 👍 we do have a great city. My mum told me my very distant relative was on the board of directors for the Mersey dock and harbour company. He must have been very wealthy! Anyway he left his wife and family for a Catholic tart 😂 and left his fortune to the catholic church. That wasn't done back then 😂. There used to be a gun club off Dale street that my uncle was a member of. They had a Chinese restaurant next door and the club was that old the steel plates at the back of the range were almost destroyed. You could peep through the holes and see the Chinese chefs cooking away dodging bullets 😂. At the back of the town hall by the red phone boxes if you look over the "moat" as it's known you can see the tunnels Darren mentions. They run across the back of the town hall and under Martin's bank building and another old bank on the other side of exchange flags. Allegedly when Barclays was still there the vaults were burgled through one of these tunnels. It's also been hit by Tommy C years ago. They had a key to the front door. The command centre under exchange flags is something else. Me and a mate did the tour around VJ day. It was the day they blew up the 3 sisters chimneys on the docks. It's incredible place that and if you can get a chance to go inside underground it's worth a look. Amazing how it was kept secret for sinking considering how big it is inside. The shop doesn't reflect how big it is. The roof is 20ft thick reinforced concrete with 7ft thick walls
proper enjoyed that lad. i always enjoy your videos, but this is probably the best one. You and Darren are great together and i would love to see more historic walks around parts of our city. Really enjpyed that. I liked it when u norticed that reaally old gate near the end of the video. my dad was an iron moulder in fishers in liverpool for years, and worked on lots of big gates and fences around the city from just after the war. Do more of this style vidio mate please.
Absolutely love Liverpool, ny dads a scouser, great people salt of the earth. Love the The architecture and the general vibe of Liverpool city just has something different fron any other ciry I've visited.
Back in the early 1970's remember Ye Hole in Ye wall being an all male pub selling lovely food and beer and also Bill don't forget Ma Boyles Oyster Bar which is near St Nicks Church and dates back to 1870s selling a pint pot of prawns and delicious beef or ham off the bone butties. pea wack soup etc - 12.30 Friday linch time you couldn't get in - jam packed with people. - happy days
Martins Bank Bill, where they kept all of Britain's gold reserve during the WW2 for safe keeping. (I know choosing Liverpool, right lol). The story was told in a film called The Bullion Boys, starring David Jason filmed in 1993. I used to work in Exchange flags from 81 to 90. And used to go down in the war rooms which were left to rack and ruin for many years. When I went down there were no lights and the place looked like the same as if the staff had just left it in 1945 then it was cleaned up for the anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. Also back in the day Sweeting Street was famous for the sex shop at the far end. Ask Darren he was never out of there. lol Good vid mate.
Darren should have taken you to Standish st of Crosshall st to show you st Patricks plaque and Tabernackle ,St Patrick preached there in the year 432 before leaving for Ireland ,great video by the way.
Hiya Bill, love checking in am in Vietnam at the min Cambodia next, I'm from from Southend Park Road, Darren's hilarious love his scouse girls video he had it down to a tee😅😅😅
It was through the city being a rich shipping port that all those great buildings exist, a lot of those large buildings down by the liver buildings were banks 🏦 that ended up in the city because it was geographically perfectly located as a seaport back in the day.
Liverpool was the hub for slavery Yehh it’s well touchy but it made that much doe the gaffers running it spent it on grand buildings and had road names called after them , the most famous one was Penny Lane named after the slave trader called James Penny . Speke Hall was another, it’s a national trust stately home now but it belonged to a slave trader who gave a huge amount of land away , they were the Norris’s and the land they gave away became Norris Green which is well funny because you’ve got people from where they sold slaves living there
Unfortunately that was one of the trades of empire of that time in history and every major port city was financially involved London,Glasgow,Bristol and Manchester down the road was built on Cotton from slavery hence the nickname Cottonopolis!
I get the train in from Maghull North to Moorfields regularly then walk to work in Vauxhall. Always said the same thing, brought up in the city and we don't appreciate the architecture and thriving city we live in. Also, to see history whilst walking around Liverpool look up! Unless you're outside Lewis's, where you'll just see a big set of balls.
4th liver bird ??Up on the Walker art gallery.Surprised you both never went into Ma Bowles, was once a good spot for a bowl of scouse. (Tucked away behind St Nic’s.)Cheers,to you and all.
13:10 The building next to the Pig and Whistle took a direct hit from a bomb in WWII and was never rebuilt. Part of the front remains and the rest is a car park.
It’s incredible the amount of history I didn’t even know about the third Liver Bird, am I correct in thinking when them Liver Birds fly off Liverpool no longer is a port?
If you look a from certain angle towards the Queen Victoria monument it looks as though she is doing a duty that every man craves for. If anyone remembers the old tenners with the other Queen on when you could fold it you'll know what Iam on about .

They were going to ship out all the gold to Canada if Germany invaded. I remember going in when it was Barclays Bank in the 2000's.
