I like your videos as so many other ones in Thailand are going to eat and then going to eat and then going to eat. You go into history and more. Great job Doug. I am now getting ready to go back to Malaysia.
I think I could eventually have calmed the dogs down and become friends with them, but once the woman came out to control the dogs, I kind of had to just keep walking. I didn't want to keep engaging with the dogs while she was trying to hold them back. The main dog that was barking at me was also wagging its tail the most. It seemed to be the one getting the other dogs excited, and if I could have befriended it, I think all of them would have relaxed. But I never got the chance. Too bad I didn't have a bag of snacks in my knapsack. 🙂
No, unfortunately. As far as I know, the land border crossing is still closed. Friendship Bridge #1 here in Mae Sot is completely closed. It's not open to people and it's not open to vehicles either. I was just up there on my scooter the other day, and nothing has changed. There's just a big gate blocking the bridge with a big lock on it. Friendship Bridge #2 is open to commercial trucks carrying trade goods. But it's not possible for people to cross that bridge to go into Myanmar. I haven't heard anything about a date when they might open.
I HAVE been losing weight recently, and I haven't been sleeping well. But I think that shirt has a lot to do with looking too thin. I like my clothing to be somewhat large and loose and comfortable. So I end up looking thin in that oversized T-shirt. I'm not really as think as I appear, I don't think. 🙂
Returning to Malaysia is still the plan. I still have my touring bicycle, a bunch of camera gear, computer gear, tools, camping equipment, and personal items in storage in Kuala Lumpur. And I have to go back there to retrieve all that stuff or do something with it. But I don't have an exact date for that trip yet. It will be relatively soon... 🙂
This particular video was shot on the last day of June, just before the mask mandate was lifted. But even now, a week after the mask mandate was lifted, I haven't seen many changes. In Mae Sot, everyone is still wearing a mask whether indoor or outdoor or even riding a scooter. I've noticed that some of the stores I visit have removed the plastic barriers surrounding the cash registers. But that's the only change I've noticed. When I sit in the local restaurants with my regular bowl of noodles, I've made a game of watching the scooter traffic flow past outside to count the masks. I assumed that every day, I'd see fewer masks. But so far, mask-wearing is still 100%. I don't remember seeing a single person ride past on their scooter or motorcycle without a mask. I've seen similar reports from places like Bangkok. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for the mask-wearing habit to disappear.
@@PlanetDoug I’am in Koh Phangan atm and there’s very few people wearing masks, mostly mainly Thais, even in 7/11’s you don’t need to wear one! Doug have you ever been to Koh Phangan? It’s my favourite island 🏝 very different vibe than any other island, I’am 69 so am not into Full Moon partying. I’ve been doing some great hikes and this island is so lush and tropical and still hasn’t been ruined by over development as yet hopefully 🙏
I hate to break it to you but tail wagging is not a sign of friendliness. I've seen plenty of videos of vicious dogs (mostly bully breeds) mauling cats and smaller dogs to death while wagging their tails. Be careful around stray dogs, especially in a non rabies free country.
That, in my opinion, is not the cause of your flabby shirt, which makes you look tiny. Really, I think you're having trouble sleeping. That is why you have lost weight.
To be honest, I'm also deliberately trying to lose a bit of weight. All my clothing has worn out. In particular, I have to buy new pants, and I realized that I'd gotten a bit chubby around my waist. 😁 And I didn't want to buy new pants to fit "Fat Doug". So I decided to try to get my waist thinner and turn into older "Skinny Doug" before I spend the money on new pants. Unfortunately, as you slim down around your waist, you also end up losing weight everywhere else. I don't actually need to lose weight anywhere else. I'm just trying to get rid of stomach fat. But as you lose the stomach fat, you end up losing weight in your face and upper body as well.
I like to listen to the sound of your scooter. It is the sound of Asia.
I be heading to Mae sot this December. Your video gave me places to visit.

I'm glad to hear you are finally going back. Malaysia is now almost fully back to normal, so it's a good time to go.
Another awesome vid of the countryside.
Good ride and enjoyable! Dogs seems to make lots of noise but wants to be friends!
Nice day Doug!

Thank you. I'll do my best. 🙏
I am now at Sukhothai and planning to reach Mae Sot. Is the border to Myanmar passable now?
No, unfortunately. As far as I know, the land border crossing is still closed.

Any plan of coming back to Malaysia again?

those dogs are friendly? they looked scary to me. XD
Doug - the mask mandate has been rescinded. Outdoors there is definitely no need to wear one anymore. Indoors depends on the business.

Boy you still stuck in same area for more than one years now. Time to move on.
