Bought one in early April my first REAL MTB. On sale $499 free shipping with in store pick up at IN CYCLE have done about $250 in upgrades ROCKSHOX 30 TK air fork ,FSA STEM SPACERS ( raised bars when added new fork ) , 180 front rotor , aluminum platforms , specialized purgatory tires ( bought on sale two for price of one usually $65 a piece got both for 65 dollars ) logged almost 200 miles in the High Deserts of southern CA ( sand , sandy , rocks , gravel , Rock gardens OHV TRAILS , fire roads , power line roads , AWESOME RIDE !!!
I bought a Specialized Rockhopper 12 years ago and I still have it . I have to say I am getting my money's worth out of it. Last year i had new rims put on it. And just a few weeks ago i had new pedals installed be they lasted a long time. It will out last a Walmart bicycle any day.
My Rockhopper is a wonderful bike for me as someone who mostly rides on the road or zwifts but every now and then wants to get out on the trails with friends without breaking the bank. Its a really good bike even if I just get on it a few times a month.
Had a 21’ rockhopper elite for 2 years. Gotta say the bike is amazing, it was so fast and nimble while also being able to handle anything that I could throw at it. Wish it had a dropper though
I bought a used one of these a couple of years tand am still riding it. Takes a beating and keeps going. Love it almost as much as my trek. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Getting a Rockhopper Sport 29 2023 in a week. I have not riden a MTB in 20 years.. Going for a new ride again. Still have the clothes and shoes :) No need to buy a 2000 euro bike. So I am curious how it rides. :) Will be better than my Giant from 20 years ago.
Had the same issue and it was the rear derailleur falling apart. The things made pretty cheap and just about everything fails at some point. It would work its way out of alignment, was always off a couple mm on shifts and its final farewell to me was wrapping itself around my cassette. I hope mine was just bad but who knows lol
Only spec that bothers me is the non tapered head tube. As you mentioned in 3:00 it makes upgradeability harder. Anyway, awesome bike and great video! Think the comp has the best price for what it offers :D
Just got one and its falling apart, it seems to go through parts faster than i can replace them. Dont know if they were all assembly errors, but im a little disappointed
Chainrings aren’t specified. Looks like maybe a 36/26? I think that’s be a good range for a general purpose bike. Wish it was 9 on the rear but looks like you can go up to the Sport for that. Dislike how some of the cheaper bikes are putting 7 on the rear and then dropping the front shifter to drop costs. Not as versatile.
I don't understand why Specialized bikes are so expensive with low end components. You can get a trek marlin 5 in the same price range with shimano drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes.

Had an 87 or 88 Rockhopper for many years. Loved that bike.

just bought this bike on marketplace, used-new condition, for $375. It was a no brainer. Excited to use it on the trails!!!
Good deal!

Nice nice!
Can I put 2.4 on this bike
I've got a '21 comp.
The first upgrade should be the fork.

I got this same one but a 2021. I love it so far except the shifting isn't so good and the chain pops off after some jumps.

There are a couple companies that make adapters to run tapered forks if it’s important but its obviously not gonna compare
I want to buy a bike and I don't know what to choose between the specialized Rockhopper 2022 and the Rockrider Explore 520
This answers some questions. I’ll put it on my list.
hi, I am interested in buying between two bikes, which one to choose, both are the same price Scott sub cross 50 or specialized rockhooper .thanks
Is there an air fork thar is compatible with my rockhopper sport 29?
I just look up in the website and there’re 650 again 😢
I miss my rock hopper
Getting mine soon 🥹

I got the green one in 2022... I paid 699.99 from the site.
They make a conversion for the larger bearing , 2 manufacturers actually that I know of
Interesting thanks for the insight. I'll have to look into it

My rockhopper has hydraulic shimano brakes
@djmcdonald5508 the basic rockhopper doesn't come with hydraulic brakes but in similar price range you get marlin 5 which does have hydraulic brakes
@TheFaz793 absolutely they do. Mine and my wifes both have Shimano hydraulic brakes
@@TheFaz793 shimano br-mt200
I wanted the "SATIN OLIVE GREEN / BLACK" color, but It seems they don't make anymore :(
Yes they do.
$499 plus $50 shipping btw
Decent specs, the elite is the best for the buck imo.
Yep!
@@Jamesthebikeguy even with the expert being on sale, ? anywho i went with the elite
Bought a rockhopper expert, planning on dumping a bunch of money into upgrades but not sure if frame is worth it someone let me know please
@guitarlessonsnow3431 thanks a million!
This is $650 now. Wtf
I have a 1998 rockhopper and I'm only replacing it because it just now decided to die so am trying to buy another one but I have to convince my mom
