Peter the Great, as he is known, is an impostor who was sent from England. When he got back in Russia: (i) he did not recognise people well known to the real Peter before he went to Europe (WHY?); (ii) his wife was sent to monastery without ever seen him (WHY?); his sister, Sophia, was incarcerated on his return in Russia (WHY?); (iii) he couldn't remember anything that happened with the real Peter before he went to Europe (WHY?); (iv) he couldn't speak fluently Russian (WHY?).
In order to have control on the real history (i.e. to falsify it as needed), the impostor known as Peter the Great, "upon realizing the magnitude of the finds, decreed by pain of death that every discovery should be taken directly to him", which policy towards all historical artefacts, especially the written ones, remained after him even more vigorously by Catherine the Great.
Further, don't you see a very, very strange similarity between the "mysterious standing stones, bordered by hundreds of ancient burial mounds" (1:56) and Stonehenge (which, as we are told, is 4,000 y old) ?!?!?

Because they were, the Jasy are one and the same as the Iazyg tribe of Alans. They destroyed the 21st Legion Rapax “The Raptor” Marcus Aurelius defeated the Iazyg and posted 8500 Iazyg troops along Hadrian’s Wall in Britain, some of them were settled in Britany as well. They literally went from Scythia to Camelot. The descendants of these Alan’s figured greatly in the 1066 invasion of Britain.

Scythians were definitely not a homogenous group, they were nomadic, nomadic don't judge people by their race, so please don't use your narrow peasant mind to define who they were.they were more like Eurasian mix type, but more of northern and central Asian and eastern central Europe, at the end I would say they were nomadic nation's common ancestry, they were one of the pinnacles of nomadic culture. They were the protector of earth, unlike "civilized" peasants, who can;t live harmony with the nature, always desire more, even it's gonna ruin the soil they are living in, if today's world ruler is one of the descendants of Scythians, world will definitely be a better place, no racism, no extremist religious people. no harm is done to mother earth, no evil nuclear bomb and any other evil creatures gonna pollute our precious land, no border controller, everybody moving freely, no first world, third world.Everybody will be truly created equal, unlike nowadays hypocrisy western culture which is ruling the world and leading earth to a total destruction, The nomadic culture more like a indigenous culture of earth itself, which always emphasized the nature's importance, the destruction of nature would be a severe crime, and will receive serious punishment. Western and their so-called modern culture are not built on the harmony between man and nature, it's about man above nature, and destroy nature for its own benefits, even the consequences of their action gonna be devastating, they will still do it, for the profit and "development". Western culture is more like an alien culture, highly possible inherited from some invasive creature from an already being destroyed planet, so they are by nature aggressive and disrespectful, and always think they are better than the indigenous earthling. The earth we were living in now will eventually be being destroyed by these evil power, and now they were already starting to look for another planet for them to destroy!!

Iazyges and Iassic people have nothing to do with each other. Iassic people arrived in medieval Europe late, are Ossetians remnants of Sarmatian tribes. As name and culture they can be related and even considered separate branches of the same people, but as history they are not very related. You imply a continuity in the plains? That will be a second continuity theory in the area and I am quite sure that their migration is recorded.
Also, both of you are wrong, they were not Scythians, but Sarmatians.
There is a difference in age, location, tactics, material and language. Also Scythians could mean anything iranians, turks, dacians, slavs, vlahs, depending on the age. Sarmatians were just Iranians.
To the core it was a relation as the tartar-mongol relation, but we cannot put equal.
So Iassic are not Iazyges, and both were not Scythians as ethnicity.

Byzant or Vizant, B into latin V... Its military service not servitude. Also slave is from word slav - Sloven becouse majority of war prisoners that germanic and romans took for slaves were slavs. You as bulgarian and as a slav think you are a slave? Not so, I supose. We were in constant battle with western wild plungering tribes. They lived from robbery and plungering slavs.

Tracians were also SLAVES for romans. They were Slavs too. Aka Scythians. Herodot confirm this saying that scythian language and tracian were more less the same.

The Scythians women is where we got the Idea of the Amazon Warriors .

    • @Athanatoi
      @Athanatoi 6 років тому +54

The first recorded reference to the Amazons was in the 6th book of Homer’s Iliad.
described the Amazons as “woman who like to go to war with men"
Herodotus, a 5th century BC historian said the Amazons were descendants of shipwrecked Greek woman and Scythian men.
Hippocrates, a 5th century BC physician, writes of a Scythian race called Sauromatae.
Strabo, a 1st century BC philosopher, places the Amazons at “the foot of the Caucasian mountains”.
He also supports the idea that these women would procreate with neighboring villages
described them as woman that worked the land, milking cattle and practiced war-like exercises.
      Recently discovered evidence
Archeologist Jeannine Davis-Kimball spent 5 years excavating more than 150 ancient kurgans of the 5th century B.C. located near the Kazakhstan border in Russia
14% of the graves were women buried with bronze daggers, arrowheads, swords and whetstones
Chemical analysis of the 68 bronze articles at the burial site revealed that there were a wide variety of different kinds of bronze, originating from very distant areas, as far as Caucasus and Kazakhstan.

Christine VR I think there is a documentary on UA-cam exploring this concept, the story is that the Amazons fought on the side of Troy in the Trojan war. Being taken captive by the Greeks and while being taken back to Sparta on a Greek ship, they overpowered the Greek sailors. With no knowledge of sailing they became shipwrecked on the shores of Sarmatia/Scythia and took husbands there. There have been tombs of warriors (women) who were of some sort of priestess or ruling class buried withe their weapons on the step. The documentary traced their expansion into this area via Genetic studies . And found that there are some blond haired , blue eyed, women, an Amazonian trait, in that area to this day! Very interesting

And one of them would never die. No matter the number of battles she fought in or the number of injuries inflicted upon her person by her enemies, nothing could stop breath from coursing through her lungs and warm blood from flowing through her still beating heart. She was the worlds first known immortal and she grew to view her unnatural existence as more of a curse than a blessing. In time her name would be passed down the generations to become legend to a world that had long since forgotten her, and her exploits were the tentpoles of modern myth. She has gone by many names in history, but we few enlightened individuals who have learned to read between the margins like to refer to her as Andromache the Scythian, the Eternal Warrior....

Anyone familiar with the Aryan theory of Indo-European cultural diffusion and population migration - before political considerations had it effectively purged from the Western academy - will understand the links between groups like the Scythians, ancient Iranians, and the vast expansion of culture-bearing warriors (possessing anatomical and genetic characteristics that correspond to those of Scandinavian and Germanic ancestry) that would disrupt (and eventually replace) the ideological and sociocultural paradigms that were established by agriculturalists who migrated to Europe [via the Mediterranean] back during the Neolithic.

I agree that Scythians were an Indo-European people who spoke an Iranic language. But to be fair, the similarities between Scythian and Turkic nomadic way of life and warfare is undeniable. Also not only do Turkic people today occupy the exact same geographic area as the Scythians did but they also have large amounts of West Eurasian (European) genes. In some areas Turkic people look like a mix between Northern European and Asian. Also the Huns and other Turkic people enter the scene just as the Scythians ceased to be mentioned in history. So I don't think that our is inconceivable that there was a period when the Turks gradually came in from the east of the Altai and absorbed and assimilated the Scythians and continued from where they dropped off.

Funny thing is for me Turkish people saying that Syctians are Turkic... Scythians are not Turkic nor anything also. They were the all people lived in central asia and transoxiana. They were nomad, hunter and shared same shamanistic, animistic religions. They were both Persians, Turkic people, Mongols, Indians etc. That was not a country nor empire. It was just the name Greeks called for all these nomadic, "barbarian" people.
And as Turkish guy, I'm not saying all Scythians was Turks but I know that some Turks was part of Scythians and be sure that there are no honour as being a Scythians. Pity on the fool feeling proud of being a member of a culture whos painting stones while Greeks, Persians are building libraries. Sad but true, we were part of these people.

ALANS, an ancient Iranian tribe of the northern (Scythian, Saka, Sarmatian, Massagete) group, known to classical writers from the first centuries A.D. (see, e.g., Seneca, Thyestes 630; Annaeus Lucan, Pharsalia8.223, 10.454; Lucian, Toxaris 51, 54, 55, 60; Ptolemy, Geographia 6.14.3, 9, 11; and other sources below). Their name appears in Greek as Alanoi, in Latin as Alani or Halani. The same tribes, or affiliated ones, are mentioned as the Asaioi (Ptolemy 5.9.16), Rhoxolanoi, Aorsoi, Sirakoi, and Iazyges (Strabo 2.5.7, 7.2.4; 11.2.1, 11.5.8; 7.2.4). In early times the main mass of the Alans was settled north of the Caspian and Black seas. Later they also occupied the Crimea and considerable territory in the northern Caucasus.
The history of the Alans can be divided into three periods: (1) from the beginning of the Christian era to the great migration of peoples; (2) from that period to the Mongol invasion; (3) subsequent to the Mongol invasion. During the first period, the Alans appear as a nomadic, warlike, pastoral people who were professional warriors and took service, at various times, with the Romans, Parthians, and Sasanians. Their cavalry was particularly renowned. They participated in Mithridates’ wars with Rome (chronicled by Lucan), as well as in Roman campaigns in Armenia, Media, and Parthia in the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D. (see Josephus, Jewish Wars7.244-51, Antiquities 18.97; cf. accounts in Moses of Khoren, History of the Armenians [Langlois, Historiens II, pp. 105-06, 125] and the Georgian Chronicle [Kartlis tskhovreba, in M. F. Brosset and D. I. Chubinov, Histoire de la Georgie I, St. Petersburg, 1849]). Ammianus Marcellinus (31.2) describes the Alans’ nomadic economy and warlike customs.
The invasion of the Huns split the Alans into two parts, the European and the Caucasian. Some of the European Alans were drawn into the migration of peoples from eastern into western Europe. With the Germanic tribes of Visigoths and Vandals they passed into Gaul and Spain, some even reaching North Africa. The Alans fought on the side of the Romans in the battle of the Catalaunian Fields (A.D. 451), when Aetius defeated Attila, chief of the Huns. In 461 and 464 they made incursions into Italy. After Attila’s death they struggled, together with the Germanic tribes, to free themselves from Hun domination. Large Alan hordes settled along the middle course of the Loire in Gaul under King Sangiban and on the lower Danube with King Candac (the historian Jordanes sprang from the latter group). Another settlement is indicated by the name of the Spanish province Catalonia, which is but a slight deformation of Goth-Alania, “province of the Goths and Alans.” The French proper name “Alain” and English “Alan” are an inheritance from the tribe. The Alans also left an imprint on Celtic folk-poetry, e.g., the cycle of legends concerning King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table (see M. Hesse, “Iranisches Sagengut im Christlichen Epos,” Atlantis 1937, pp. 621-28; J. H. Grisward, “Le motif de l’épée jetée au lac: la mort d’Arthur et la mort de Batradz,” Romania 90, 1969, pp. 289-340). Part of the European Alans remained in the lands bordering the Black Sea, including the Crimea.
The Caucasian Alans occupied part of the Caucasian plain and the foothills of the main mountain chain from the headwaters of the Kuban river and its tributary, the Zelenchuk (in the west), to the Daryal gorge (in the east). They became sedentary and took to cattle-breeding and agriculture. Towns developed, elements of state organization appeared, and political and cultural ties were established with Byzantium, Georgia, Abkhazia [see Abḵāz], the Khazars, and Russia. Dynastic marriages were concluded with these countries. From the 5th century on, Christian propaganda was conducted, first by Byzantine, later also by Georgian, missionaries. The Alans adopted Christianity in the 10th century, and an Alan episcopal see was created.
In 244/857 Boḡā, a general of the caliph of Baghdad, invaded Transcaucasia and the northern Caucasus, devastating Georgia, Abkhazia, the Alan country, and the Khazar lands. The Alans soon recovered, however, and restored their state. They are often mentioned by medieval writers, both western (Procopius of Caesarea, Menander, Theophanes of Byzantium, Constantine Porphyrogenitus) and Arab and Persian. The latter use the name “Alān” or “Ās”; and in Russian chronicles and Hungarian sources the form “Yas” is found. In the 4th/10th century the Arab historian Masʿūdī indicates that the Alan kingdom stretched from Daghestan to Abkhazia. He describes its prosperity: “The Alan king (can) muster 30,000 horsemen. He is powerful, very strong and influential (among?) the kings. The kingdom consists of an uninterrupted series of settlements; when the cock crows (in one of them), the answer comes from the other parts of the kingdom, because the villages are intermingled and close together” (trans. V. Minorsky, A History of Sharvan and Darband, Cambridge, 1958, pp. 156-60). The anonymous Ḥodūd al-ʿālam (trans. Minorsky, pp. 83, 161, 318, 445) describes Alania as a vast country with 1,000 settlements; the people included both Christians and idol-worshipers, mountaineers and plain-dwellers. The text makes the important statement that, in the north, the Alans bordered on the Hungarians and the Bulgars (the ancestors of the Chuvash). In the east they gave their name to the Daryal gorge, called “Gate of the Alans” (Arabic Bāb al-Lān, Persian Dar-e Alān, hence Daryal).
The Mongol invasion of the 7th/13th century and Tamerlane’s wars in the 8th/14th proved fatal to the Alan state. Its organization was destroyed, and the population suffered heavy loss. Ebn al-Aṯīr reports: “The Tatars attacked the Alans; they massacred them, committed many outrages, plundered and seized prisoners, and marched on against the Qipchaqs” (XII, p. 252; for the events of 1221 A.D., see Camb. Hist. Iran V, p. 311). The remnants of the Alans broke up into three groups. One retreated into the foothills and gorges of the central Caucasus and lives there up to the present [see Ossetes], numbering some 400,000. The people of their eastern branch call themselves “Ir”, those of the western branch “Digor.” The name “Alan” survives among them, in the form “Allon”, only in folklore. (Russian “Osetiny” is from Georgian Oseti, “Alania.” The Georgians had long called the Alans Os- or Ovs- and their country Oset-.) A second group of Alans migrated with the Qipchaqs (Comani) into Europe, settling in Hungary. The territory they occupied is to this day called Jászság, “province of the Yas;” and its capital is Jászberény. They preserved their language and ethnic identity until the 15th century, but gradually adopted the Hungarian language and became assimilated. The third group took service under the Mongol khans. According to the Chinese chronicle Yuan-shi, these “Asu” played an important role in further Mongol expansion. The Catholic missionary John de Marignolli, who spent five years in China, states that there were up to 30,000 Ās there (H. Yule, Cathay and the Way Thither III [Hakluyt Society, second ser., no. 37], London, 1914, pp. 180ff.). In the course of time they perished in warfare or were absorbed into the local population.
The name “Alan” is derived from Old Iranian *arya-, “Aryan,” and so is cognate with “Īrān” (from the gen. plur. *aryānām). The ancient Alan language may, to some extent, be reconstructed on the basis of modern Ossetic (after excluding the latter’s Turkic and Caucasian additions). The Alans created no writing, and no texts survive in their language except an inscription in Greek letters on a tombstone from the headwaters of the Kuban (Grund. Iran. Phil. I, Anhang, p. 31). A few sentences are recorded by the Byzantine author Tzetzēs (Gerhardt, “Alanen und Osseten,” pp. 37-51). Various personal, ethnic, and place names are also known (see M. Vasmer, Die Iranier in Südrussland, Leipzig, 1923, pp. 25-29). This material at least indicates clearly the Iranian character of the Alan language.

The Declaration of Arbroath refers to the Scottish people's decency from Scythia.
I'm not sure how credible there claim is other than to say the rock art and jewellery is very very similar to Pictish art. The Picts were absorbed by the Scots so while the Scots have the Scotia/Egyptian connection the Picts they integrated may have been aware of a connection to Scythia.
What is really interesting is the use of the horse and chariot by early Britons, the standing stone circles and the tattooing. The Picts were named by the Romans in what is believed to be a reference to their extensive tattooing.

The combination of linguistic and DNA Genealogy data indicates that the aboriginal Europeans, the Y Chromosome haplogroup I people were the Proto-Indo-Europeans and the Proto-Slavic speakers. In contact with newcomers of other language groups mixing took place. Either the newcomers were absorbed into the autochthonous Proto-Slavic community, or the native Proto-Slavic population was so effected by the immigrants that they lost their Slavic identity and formed a language, which remained Indo-European but no longer recognizable as specifically Slavic. The Kurgan Theory and the Pontic Steppe Theory of the Indo-European origin failed completely.
Prior to the intrusion of the Y-Chromosome haplogroup R1b people, there was existing all over the Europe a Slavic substratum, which subsequently lost its Slavicity, but turned the Y Chromosome haplogroup R1b people from Altaic (Turkic) into the West-European Indo-European, which subsequently developed into Celtic resp. Basque.
The original Proto-Indo-Europeans were Proto-Slavic, a people with haplogroup I, who lived in Europe and the Middle East and turned the Germanic-Oghur R1a people into Proto-Slavic.
The Slavic languages are not derived from a Balto-Slavic language, but Baltic languages were created by the intermingling of northern Slavs with the Ogri (N1a people) which came from the Urals 2,500 to 3,000 years ago. Germanic people were living in the Far East as close relatives of the nomadic Türks.
Especially since there are similarities between German and Korean (Lie, 1991), as well as between Germanic and Chinese, where both of them are Kentum (Chang, 1988), and this indicates strongly that the ancestors of Germanic people were living in Far East and formed there the state of China. There persists the open question not only as to the degree to which Chinese was influenced by Germanic, which was studied by Chang (1988), but also as to the degree to which the Germanic was influenced by Korean, Chinese, and other Oriental languages. [Yet another question raised is: whether instead of Indo-Germanic some other designation such as Sino-Germanic would be more targeting and precise, Perdih & Jandaček (2012)]

Another Slavic (Russian) scientist, DNA specialist Anatoliy Klyosov:
“Since the basic haplotype is the same, it shows that the Tatars, despite their tiny population now, originate from the oldest ancestor of the haplotypes R1a1 in north-west Asia. This is not a “Indo-European” common ancestor, and he did not come from the west, from Europe. He migrated from the east, from South Siberia, apparently from the Altay lands. Therefore, the Altaix language family, the Turkic group. R1a1, arriving in Europe, created (or adopted) the Indo-European, and the native languages in Southern Siberia were Altaic. Therefore, R1b1, of the same origin, originally was also proto-Turkic (Klyosov, 2010). [...]
Thus, the haplogroup R1a1 spread throughout the world in the form of an ancient variant from Southern Siberia, an “age” between 21 thousand and 7 thousand years, and a more recent “Indo-European” version, approximately 5 thousand years or less... ”.

haha, you're not very smart, are you? none of this proves that the Scythians were Turks; however, it does prove that the Turks of Central Asia have been heavily influenced by Indo-Iranians. The Central Asian Turks are related to the Scythians through cultural mixing, but that doesn't mean that the ancient Scythians were Turks. These studies simply prove that Turkic people in Central Asia aren't really that Turkic.

There are still debates on whether Scythians originated from early Turkic tribes, or not if memory serves.
It seems like the steppe culture, was dominated by a Golden Line of dynasties, and some people consider the original culture actually was dictated by these people
Gokturk Khanate is the first Turkic Khanate, right? But the weird part of it, is that almost every single early Gokturk leader description suggest that they're blue eyed, reddish haired, fair skinned. The original Ashina clan, apparently did not really appear the infamous mongoloid type at all.
Instead, from Altai mountains, the Turks emerged, in time they got the more mongoloid types in features and Turkic language was clearly their main language. Albeit the clans under the ashinas may have spoken various ones.
The whole history of steppes is vastly challenging because of the lack of written materials. Everything is shrouded and various debates can be brought up constnatly.

Scythians are an iranic tribe. The confusion comes when late scholars called everyone in the region Scythians

    •  4 роки тому +1

Scythians were not iranian or indo-european. First of all scythians' religion, culture and life style is nothing to do with iran or europan. They are steppe nomads and living like tatars not iranians. Iranians have never been in that region. In 568 AD Göktürk Khaganate's ruler Ilteris Khagan sended a letter to Roman emperor II. Justinos with a Sogdian envoy named Maniach. When Sogdian presented letter to II. Justinos he said letter written in Scythian language. There are too many examples like this. 15th and 16th century European historians frequently declared that Turks and Tatars are descendants of Scythians. Not cultural nor lingual Scythians nothing to do with Iranians or Slavs. These are unfounded claims.

Herodotus wrote that the Scythians ( or Saka ) were a heterogeneous group , having different customs and languages ( Minns 1971 )
The Scythians were an Iranian or proto- Turkic steppe nomadic group that inhabited the southern steppes of Russia during the ancient period. They were gradually replaced by other nomadic groups. The Byzantines, however, commonly referred to all nomads regardless of location as Scythians, even during the medieval period.
Timothy May. “The Training of an Inner Asian Nomad Army in the Pre-Modern Period.” The Journal of Military History, vol. 70, no. 3, 2006, pp. 617-635.
Second Theory is True, because Scythians were genetically %0.00 iranian
Contemporary descendants of western Scythian groups are found among various groups in the Caucasus and Central Asia, while similarities to eastern Scythian are found to be more widespread, but almost exclusively among Turkic language speaking (formerly) nomadic groups, particularly from the Kipchak branch of Turkic languages (Supplementary Note 1).
Unterländer, M., Palstra, F., Lazaridis, I. et al.Ancestry and demography and descendants of Iron Age nomads of the Eurasian Steppe. Nat Commun 8, 14615 (2017).
We observed particularly high similarity between the Tagar and Classic Scythians from the North Pontic region.
In a comparison of our Tagar series with modern populations in Eurasia, we detected similarity between the Tagar group and some modern Turkic-speaking populations (with the exception of the Indo-Iranian Tajik population) (Fig 7; S2 Table). Among the modern Turkic-speaking groups, populations from the western part of the Eurasian steppe belt, such as Bashkirs from the Volga-Ural region and Siberian Tatars from the West Siberian forest-steppe zone, were more similar to the Tagar group than modern Turkic-speaking populations of the Altay-Sayan mountain system (including the Khakassians from the Minusinsk basin) (Fig 7).
Based on our results, we can preliminarily conclude that there was genetic continuity, at least partially, between the Early, the Middle and the Late Tagar populations. We did not find evidence of extensive gene exchange between the Tagar population and any genetically distinct (with respect to the mtDNA pool) human groups.

Arzhan-2, the archaeological site of world significance, a national treasure of peoples of Tuva and Russia, located in the «Valley of Kings» (Piy-Khemsk District, Tyva Republic), was investigated in 2001-2004 by the Central Asian Archaeological Expedition of the State Hermitage Museum headed by K.V. Chugunov. The sites has been dated to the 7th c. BC and attributed to the Scythian-Siberian cultural community. When exploring the «royal» burial of the early Scythian site of Arzhan-2, the scientists faced the questions of the origin of the buried, periodization and chronology of the monument, its archaeological-cultural attribution, the autochthonous nature of the population that left it, and its relationship with other Eurasian early nomadic cultures. The present study is addressing the most important issue of the appearance of the buried people and characteristics of their anthropological type. The material for the study was comprised of male and female skulls from burial 5 of Arzhan-2 mound. The article describes in detail the process of reconstruction of the physical appearance of the deceased and provides examples of calculating ante mortem parameters based on craniometric measurements. The complex stages of preliminary work related to the restoration of skulls and manufacturing of their exact copies are highlighted. The results of the physical appearance reconstruction are presented in the form of visual museum objects - sculptural portraits. The scientific reconstruction of the ante mortem appearance on skulls of the «king» and «queen» was carried out in the Laboratory of Anthropological Reconstruction of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences by anthropologists Drs E.V. Veselovskaya and R.M. Galeev. In anthropological terms, the buried show a peculiar mosaic of Caucasoid and Mongoloid features. They are characterized by brachycephaly and dome-shaped head, with notably developed rugosity of the supercilium in the man and its absence in the woman. For the man, an average width of the face and a narrow forehead of medium height are noted. The woman has broad face and forehead, the height of the forehead is average. Both portraits are characterized by prominent position of eyeballs and large eyes. Man’s nose is short, prominent, with convex dorsum. Woman’s nose has a wavy dorsum, and is slightly prominent. On the male portrait, the cheekbones are moderate, on the female one - high and prominent. Faces of the «royal» persons are flattened in the upper part, with a certain degree of alveolar prognathism. The lower jaw of the man is medium in size, narrow in the corners. For the woman, some gracility of the lower jaw can be noted.

I may have fallen for lore, not fact, but I read: the Scythians were never conquered by Darius nor Alexander. The latter signed a treaty with them, and referred to them as The Royal Scythians. they invented the pottery wheel, and the double-bellows that enabled them to be among the first to work iron. Greek historians wrote accounts of the vaping cannabis by throwing hemp seeds on heated rocks, then putting a blanket over themselves and the stones....”they came out howling and laughing....” They did seem highly religious, having the great white stag, who bore the celestial bodies on his antlers, and was the bringer of messages from God.

ALANS, an ancient Iranian tribe of the northern (Scythian, Saka, Sarmatian, Massagete) group, known to classical writers from the first centuries A.D. (see, e.g., Seneca, Thyestes 630; Annaeus Lucan, Pharsalia 8.223, 10.454; Lucian, Toxaris 51, 54, 55, 60; Ptolemy, Geographia 6.14.3, 9, 11; and other sources below).
(see Josephus, Jewish Wars 7.244-51, Antiquities 18.97; cf. accounts in Moses of Khoren, History of the Armenians [Langlois, Historiens II, pp.

The Picts were noted warriors that were heavily tattooed. The Celtic people were noted horseman (and still are) and have been more focused on raising sheep and cows, pastoral activities, rather than being a sea faring people. I always thought that as odd for a people living on an island in the ocean. And the places in the world where the most red haired people are found are Ireland, Scotland, England, (the USA from people emigrating from there), and an area north of the Caspian Sea! So I believe there is a connection.

There's no chance the Scythians ever made it to Ireland. The similarities you see with the Celts is simply because of the fact the Celts came from the Steppes (as did all Indo-Europeans). The Scythians were merely the people "left" on the Steppes who never migrated. In other words the Celts and Scythians share a common ancestor (as do the Germans and Italics, etc).

    Peer-Reviewed Publication
AKSON RUSSIAN SCIENCE COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION: Research group from Russia and the United States analyzed samples of obsidian volcanic glass in Kabardino-Balkaria. It turned out that more than 70 thousand years ago, Neanderthals transferred this mineral to distances up to 250 kilometers and used it to manufacture tools. These findings help to understand how populations from different regions communicated in antiquity. The study was supported by the Russian Science Foundation and is published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports).
Russians are 600-1000 years old, at the most, as a culture. Russians tried to wipe out as many Caucasian peoples as much possible, including Circassians and other Caucasian nations in the Caucasus. Scythians came from Circassian region. Circassia at the time stretched into what is now called Ukraine. There is a town called Cherkasy in Ukraine. Cherkess means Circassian, in Russian language. Russians are not Circassian. (Allow me to re-iterate that fact.). Russians massacred over 2 million Circassians between the 1700's and 1800's. When will Circassians get a mention in history books across the world? Scythians are made up history. In ancient Persian texts the word "Saka" pops up which simply means "nomad" in old Persian. "Sarmatia" is an ancient Greek word that just means "to run, flow". Some Modern historians have decided to replace these words with "Scythian" (Scythe meaning "sickle" in Old English) and manufacture an entire fake history around it.
All of these artifacts you see on the screen do not come from "Scythian burial mounds".
Most of them are the work of ancient Greek settlers along the Black Sea, and some from sites as far-flung as Afghanistan or near Mongolia and western China.

They're must have been so many kinds of animals back then. Must've been so much of an awesome sight that they had to include it in their artwork so much.

It’s a sad part of modern life- we have so much less exposure to big wild animals. An encounter with one of them is the most natural kind of spirituality

      Their language was unknown
      Their religion was Tengrism
      Their faces were Turanid
Herodotus wrote that the Scythians ( or Saka ) were a heterogeneous group , having different customs and languages ( Minns 1971 )
The Scythians were an Iranian or proto- Turkic steppe nomadic group that inhabited the southern steppes of Russia during the ancient period. They were gradually replaced by other nomadic groups. The Byzantines, however, commonly referred to all nomads regardless of location as Scythians, even during the medieval period.

Early physical analyses have unanimously concluded that the Saka, even those far to the east (e.g. the Pazyryk region), possessed predominantly "Europid" features, although mixed 'Euro-mongoloid" phenotypes also occur, depending on site and period.

Some Scythian remains had mtDNA haplogroup U2e, which was once a common European haplogroup. Also found in some of the Tocharian mummies found in China. This is the maternal haplogroup which I carry but I am German on my mother's side.
