  • This is my review of volume two of the Incredible Hulk Omnibus series. In this one we see the transition from Stan Lee scripting to Roy Thomas and the evolution of Herb Trimpe as an artist! As usual my review is chockful of high resolution 4k scans taken directly from the books pages. Have you read this one? Let me know your thoughts down in the comment.

After more than four decades collecting and reading comicbooks and related pop culture (TV, movies, video games, etc) as of 2022 I am sharing reviews/overviews of my collection. The plan is at least one new video every Monday!

Your thumbnail is hilarious. It takes me forever to read the silver age Epics. I love your poses too!! You’re all about the inkers which gives me great insight that I’d never get by myself. Hulk made you get physic(al). Perfect Frank homage.

Hah-hah! Glad you liked my posing! And yes the right inker can make all the difference in the world sometimes!

I think Spider-Man and Thor were the easiest silver age runs for me to read through

Early hulk is a lot of fun for me. I really enjoy marvel silver age books.

I think you are right that Trimpe was quite young.
I never enjoyed Fredrich scripts on most comics. Do appreciate him as a publisher, at Star Reach.
Remember loving The Roy Thomas issues. And was a big fan of Trimpe through much of the 70s…but especially with a good inker…a good visual storyteller.

Was the famous Steranko drawing one of the options as the omnibus covers? Always loved that one.

YES! I would have gotten that one but I have an autographed print of that one on my wall. So I thought I would go for the Herb Trimpe one since he draws most of this.

Enjoyed this, Larry. I’m pretty new to Hulk so I’m still looking for that ideal starting point. I have Hulk Grey by Loeb and Sale but I’d like something meatier if you know what I mean. Best, Kam.

Hey Kam! My first Hulk was the Bill Mantlo era but it's not in Omni YET....it might be in the Epic softcovers?

@@LarrysLibrary Interesting. I’ll look into that run. There’s also Al Ewing’s, Immortal Hulk, that gets a lot of attention but I’m not sure if it’s for me.

@@LarrysLibrary I'm not familiar with Bill Mantlo or his Hulk run, but I hear a lot about Al Ewing's Immortal. Looks a little too dark for my tastes though.
