Watched him from 2003 until he retired. His greatest moment, in my opinion, was moving from Honda to Yamaha and winning back to back. What a legend. The greatest I have ever seen. I miss the old days of MotoGP
Valentino single handedly put motogp on the map and that's a fact. The sport would have never gained the popularity that it has today if it wasn't for his eccentric personality, intense rivalries and insane celebrations (apart from his pure speed of course). Someone someday (maybe marquez) could break his records, but the fact is people don't adore Vale for just his records, they adore him because he made it fun, he made it a show, he made it entertainment of the highest quality. It's not the same without him. He will be missed. Grazie Vale.
Beautifully put. I’m old enough to remember the Barry Sheen era, he made it fun too although not as dominating as Rossi. Maybe one day there will be someone as successful as Rossi but unlikely to be as loved.
I will never forget that last corner of montmelo against Lorenzo. That manouver took me by surprise so much I started shouting and jumping. I was 12 by then and it's still one of my favourite moments. Salute the master, salute the doctor, salute the all time great Valentino Rossi. Grazie per tutti.
You know, it wasn't once in a lifetime. In 2007 he did the exact same overtake to Stoner. But not in last lap, there were 3 laps to go (if I remember well). Then later on Stoner overtook Valentino and won the race. That was a fantastic race too.
i still have the dent in my ceiling, the battle with Jorge last 2 laps leading up to the final corner i will never ever forget, i remember the shot of Rossi's pit crew going completely mental and the Yamaha pit girls looking at them with a puzzled look on their faces - just like my misses was at me
@@andreaiachini7517 yes I remember it. And if you look more closely you will see that Stoner blocked the inside line in the last lap on the last corner by leaning towards the corner much earlier than usual. Because he knew that Rossi could make a move in the last corner just like he did two laps before and made it stick. So stoner worked smartly otherwise we might have seen the move of 2009 in 2007 😍 And I think Lorenzo was unaware of this move of 2007 somehow, that's why he didn’t block the inside line and Rossi himself didn’t make the move up untill last corner on the last lap in 2009 thinking about what he had done against stoner in 2007
Throughout his career, i think Rossi is more or less as aggressive as Marquez on the track, but much cleaner. His cornering looks so stable in spite of how late he brakes (he is one of the greatest demons on the brake). His overtakes also look so beautiful, particularly his knee movement when he overtook Lorenzo in Catalunya 2009.
his ride was probably cleaner because he had literally a MotoGP GOAT bike (RC211V) and the smoothest bike (Yamaha). but his overtaking was anything but. those maneuver against Stoner in 08 and Lorenzo in 09 was not clean at all and borderline too aggressive.
@@ibnuabas2174 Well, i do agree that his corkscrew 08 move was very aggressive of him; but he rides that aggressively only once in several years. Generally he was very clean. Meanwhile i don't think his Catalunya 09 was borderline aggressive as you said. For me it just very tight battle with very narrow space for Vale to entry to overtake which is successful without any direct contact with Lorenzo at all.

In his best years 2001-2009 i was a teenager, but now as an adult i get a lot of thins clearer: what a demon to have as a rivel he must’ve been. In so mani races he played evil games with all of them, i understand it so much better why a lot of riders got crazy. He always had an anser in battle on track to think that only 6 of them won the title in battle with him and for most when he whas older. But he’ll never be replaced. There is no other like him, with the same charisma, badboy behavior, his ridingstyle, finalcorner inpossible overtakes that shouldn’t be possible which he made possible. Rossi Pedrosa Stoner and Lorenzo, the golden era has come to an end😢
The GOAT the doctor the master!
Rossi, now that’s what I call a “Superstar” . Brilliant!
