Paul Naschy is a most fascinating character in Spanish horror. How he got his first horror film, LA MARCE DEL HOMBRE LOBO is most interesting. I saw COUNT DRACULA'S GREAT LOVE on late night tv back in 1980 and I was captivated by Rosanna Yanni. She made a wonderful impression on a very impressionable 18 year old
Nice review Katie. Yes it’s clunky, baffling, weird and cheap but this is why we love Naschy. Its charm rises it above the negativity. I’ve never seen the dub so can’t comment on that as I never watch without the original soundtrack and subs. It was nice that Naschy could tick off Dracula on his list of wanting to play every major movie monster.
I have seen a number of Paul Naschy films. He usually plays a werewolf. Werewolf vs the Vampire Queen is probably the best Naschy movie. Your review with and without spoilers is appreciated. Should we call him trashy Naschy? only in a kind way. Naschy was another actor who could rock a toupee. It was a shame Paul Naschy, Lon Chaney Jr, and John Carradine were never in the same movie. Saw Late Night with the Devil. You would probably like it. It has a satanic cult, and takes place in the 1970s, do I need to say more. Wearing cross earrings for a review of a vampire film is an excellent touch.
I've always loved Blue eyes of a broken doll. A dragonfly for each corpse is an alright giallo, and The werewolf versus the vampire woman is pretty good, but since the beginning of the 2020's I've been getting into and watching more Paul Naschy movies. Paul Naschy is awesome. Have not seen this one yet, and honestly don't want to,lol. Because I've heard it's pretty bad. I don't want to waste my time watching BAD Paul Naschy movies. i want to watch GOOD Paul Naschy movies. And hey, your drinking seltzer water, right? I'm addicted, lol. In 2022 I started to actually care/value my own life. Never cared before. I was so depressed and disconnected. My clinical depression was really bad for years during the 2010's. Covid; the pandemic as well as getting into my 30's kind of put it all in perspective. I asked my self "how much longer am I gonna just torture my self? Life is too short for that." I still have clinical depression, but no where near as bad as before. So I've been trying to be more healthy and so instead of drinking soda I've been drinking seltzer. I was never addicted to soda. I didn't drink soda a too much. Every once in a while. Was never a big soda drinker...but these seltzer waters; I'm full blown addicted. I'll have up to 4 -5 a day sometimes. One of the first things I do when I wake up in the morning, every morning is open up a seltzer water. LOL. I was never addicted to soda [like my brothers] but I am addicted to seltzer water. I',m drinking a seltzer water right now as I watch/write this, lol.
OMG we are seltzer water twinsies! I was never a big soda drinker either. But when I did Whole30 a few years ago I found great relief in drinking them. I used to make fun of my husband for drinking them, and called them Douche Waters. But now I am addicted to Douche Waters too! I even wake up in the middle of the night for swigs of it!
I grew up going to the cinema to see the Hammer horrors first-run. This film had its scary moments; however, for the most part, it is laughable (unintentionally).
This one's kinda meh for me, even tho I heart Naschy. Have you seen Horror Rides From the Tomb, or Hunchback of the Morgue yet? Also.... definitely subbed!!!
The English dub for this movie is pure gold - I can't get enough of the scene when the lady accepts Dracula's proposal and he replies, "I'm the happiest man in the world", in the most unenthusiastic tone possible. Also, you have some really great phrasing in this review - 'look, lore and locomotion' and 'Draculaic destiny' are terms that should be used much more often in discussions of vampire films.
You totally get the spirit of this movie, excellent review. Good cheesy fun with blood, Dracula, old world atmosphere and a bunch of pretty girls. I first saw this on a really badly cropped print - complete with Elvira commentary. It was doubled with FRANKENSTEIN’S CASTLE OF FREAKS. Let me assure you, the Naschy film is THE GODFATHER in comparison. I have since bought the Vinegar Syndrome blu ray you have.
Paul Naschy is the godfather of werewolf films. My favorite being 1975s (The werewolf and the yeti).
Dracula funny? No. The loneliness of Dracula hath haunted me for centuries.
Dr. Wendell was a gracious host of Dracula's castle. Yes, Dracula CAN LOVE !!
I always wanted to see a movie where Paul Naschy meets El Santo. Sadly, it wasn't to be.
Only if they wrestle each other, the match is outdoors and mid match there’s a full moon.

This sounds a total blast , It's on my to watch list ! 👍

Trashy Naschy!! I love it! I think I'm going to watch Late Night. Glad you noticed the earrings!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this film! Haydee "Interrabang" is awesome as usual.
Smart horses.. now they're outta this Turkey...!!
I've heard of hopping vampires... now we got pole vaulting vampires??
"Very much serving costume shop" 😂

The dub is absolutely catastrophic and I love it.
HAHAH such a great word. Catastrophic!!

YAY, welcome! I have seen Horror Rises, it didn't tickle my fancy as much as this one. BUT that was my first Naschy. I haven't seen Hunchback though!
A great video Katie of one of my favourite films, which I first saw back in the 80's on the big screen no less!
that's soooo cool!!
The seventies had great vampire movies.
The 70s RULE!!
"Take a shot every time someone says I'm scared" had me laughing out loud.
how to make a movie scary: have your characters talk about how scared they are all the time!

HAHA yes, I laughed so much with this movie. Aw thank you for appreciating my language! sometimes my brain makes nice words. only sometimes 😆
Great Review Video, Katie!
Thanks Brian!! 😁
Nice that Chic and Wilber could get another gig after their job in A &C MEET FRANKENSTEIN>>>
