Rapmonster made axe sweat in SuperNova recently, taking him to game 5, Axe twitted about it lol. I really think if this kid keep it up he will reach the top sooner than later.

I can relate to Cody beating himself up when you are playing like shit. But you can't discount your opponent playing well capitalizing off your mistakes either. Sure I ain't the best player in the game i play so maybe I don't understand the pressure of one however I can say keeping a calm mind benefits even the best of players.
Everyone here cheering for Cody losing / Luigi winning meanwhile I’m having flashbacks to when I used to play and found Luigi to be the most annoying character in the game.. I feel Cody’s pain. Skill issue (for me at least), but damn that character is so tilting to fight.
This is a recent thing. He has had his share of low tier ghosts in The past. That said, hes an old school player, so chars like DK and Luigi aint no surprise for him.
At the risk of getting another long Cody reply telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about, he probably shouldn’t be so mean to himself. Being self critical is important but tilting yourself is not.
Geez dude I hope he doesn't actually really talk to himself like this in his head all the time. Holding yourself to a high standard is okay, but he's way too hard on himself. It seems he's only happy when he's winning or doing well. He will struggle with lots of things in life outside of melee because of that. And furthermore I'm sure most of his tech errors were from online delay, etc (you can literally see the stuttering), so there's no reason to get so worked up about it or blame himself for it.
Maybe Cody could have thrown out a couple more timely usmashes. Like after the dtilt at 8:11 Cody could have gone for usmash at the ledge instead of turnaround bair or whatever he was going for, and with a bit of charge it would've KO'd even vs good DI. Luigis love to just float down with aerials to catch jumps, and even if they double jump they don't really have time to punish a whiffed usmash anyways.
I can see how you think that, but honestly? Melee is a lot more "true" than other esports when it comes down to "onliners". After the slippi era began, so many insane players have come out of the woodwork to just crush people left and right. And it seems to translate pretty well. So what's the deal here? I think it's about how Melee is a forced-good ping game with a low frame-rate. This ensures that it's a 95% or maybe 90% chance that the very good main you met, is actually just as good offline. Because the inherent way the game is designed, is so "blocky" VS any 144hz/fps first person shooter game, it's just blatantly better in the end. Which all means that melee "onliners" isn't really a thing, or it's far less than in other esports. I just saw this guy fight Abate for like an hour and they fought super evenly. Sure, abate is a bit better but MAN that's close. So of-course this guy is keeping his composure! And SURE he beats IBDW, it's f'k'ing fox man, it's the most known crap top-tier of all time in melee. The Mary-sue braindead shine-spammer, of COURSE a grizzled end-game Luigi would Dair-spike Nair, up-B the ever-living S**t out of him?! Don't forget that aMSa a few months ago almost got beaten out in pools though, because a random guy first beat him off-stream and then later he fought some close games. Melee is, on the other hand, super wide. Hard to say how good ANYONE is offline or if the pools ride is pretty long. It's happened in other esports as well.
Which is why i prefer a swiss bracket instead, that way the truly worst player keep getting removed in a more steady way. Which is a lot more reliable of a measurement to see who's the best. Actually, a Swiss bracket with a loosers bracket is the brutally very best. But then the real issue is that it takes for-freaking-ever lol.

I haven't seen a Luigi move that beautifully since Abate was the best Luigi
This guy is a crybaby
Bro got Yippee’d on
cody is such a baby ongod
cody literally made me into a slight hbox fan after the “reverse popoff” (crash out from losing)
Cody is so mean to himself omg 😢

Getting beat by Luigi is frustrating as hell. I say the same shit when I'm getting YIPPEEEd on
Cody is like the kid from Whiplash with the critique.

@@zapzuesx9637 i love hatin
@@zapzuesx9637right man. Cody is a cool dude. No reason to celebrate his failures.
@@marquistf1996 I agree you have to respect top players no matter what they play or they’re playstyle
Zapzues literally just listen to him. He’s bitterness incarnate.
it’s like he has his own little twitch chat in his head that hates him and he’s reading off messages every five seconds
He's kind of weird lol
Calls him decent proceeds to lose to a Luigi LOL
Cody is insufferable
LMFAO amazing
lol at his reaction at the end. very nice set win
iBDL
Get this, then he said “yippee”
3:11 theres a world where that misfire hits
Leffen 2?
I genuinely think I would enjoy Luigi vs Cody more than I am holy shit
poor dog
I wish I could play like Cody his knowledge of the game and skill on a controller inspire me every day

he maybe could have won if he wasn’t tilting himself with the weird self deprecating talk
i swear mango is the only player that pretty much never loses to characters outside the top tiers, is it a mentality thing?
Mango plays melee, top players play matchups

He lost to Eddy Mexico last year

you can just mash shine on luigis up b
i hate luigi so much that i have to side with cody
Cody has the worst mentality, jfc. And saying "you're decent rapmonster but you shouldn't be winning this set" is suuuper lame.
rapgod
sick W.
In his defense no one likes fighting luigi
You act like Luigi mains don’t hear that every day
damn why is there so much negativity?
I like Cody but he just has such bad mentality. Honestly I wonder sometimes if playing melee competitively is really all that healthy for the guy.
Maybe Cody could have thrown out a couple more timely usmashes.
