I just tried this for the first time, the cheese combination (Parmesan cream, Gorgonzola, mozzarella) tastes amazing… I added some chili flakes and sweet jalapeños to spice things up a little bit. A must try!!

As a pineapple pizza lover I never understood all the controversy it sparks. Traveling to Italy many times I have had a chance to try many unorthodox types of pizza that to me were far more challenging. Last time in Napoli I had a chance to visit the immensely popular Pizzeria 3.0 Ciro Cascella which offers the craziest variations on Neapolitan pizza. My daughter ordered a pizza bianca with fries, baked potatoes and wieners and … we really enjoyed it. it was made of top quality ingredients with love, thought and craftsmanship. I mean you should be allowed to put on your pizza whatever you like as long as you’re not trying to recreate the Dominos thing with canned bleak pineapple, cheap ham and burnt cheese. Fresh, ripe and pineapple goes so well together with boiled varieties of ham as well as mortadella and fior di latte. Pineapple brings a lot of sweetness and moisture to pizza so you may want to slice it thinly. You can use tomato sauce sparingly because of the added moisture of pineapple or skip it altogether if it is too much for you.

You think tomatoes are too acidic and overpowering but think parmesan and gorgonzola are okay? they have a very strong taste on their own. I don't like pineapple pizza, but I think regular pizza with tomato sauce is better than this.

The mark of a good cook/chef is not that they tell their guests/customers how they should like their food but rather that they can prepare food to accommodate anyone's tastes. For instance, if someone asks me to prepare them a steak well-done, I might SUGGEST to them that they try it medium rare, but I would never DEMAND that they have it the way I like it. Pineapple's flavour profile goes extremely well with salty tastes such as pecorino, parmigiana, ham, and even anchovies. To suggest it is wrong to blend these flavours, is not only arrogant, it is arrant stupidity.

Whilst cream in carbonara is an absolute no-go for me, I love pineapple pizza. Even with (a little) tomato sauce. I really like your recipe. Gorgonzola (I love gorgonzola) is a great idea. I really must try this recipe. I just think it's a shame to use tinned pineapple. Nothing beats fresh, ripe pineapple. Your reference to good quality ham is also really not to be underestimated. I use Prague ham for this. As I'm slightly perverse, I also love pizza with anchovies and pineapple. :-) I particularly like the tip about the salad bowl. It often happens to me that the base of the pizza dough tears when I turn it. Hello Vincenzo, thank you for this. I made it just as you demonstrated. My friend who likes pineapple pizza said it is excellent. The rest of my family likes it too. It is true that the flavors of the ingredients go well together. I was skeptical, especially when I saw the Gorgonzola, but this pizza works and is delicious. The big genius idea is making the paste out of reggiano. That's a great idea and I will use it again with some different toppings.
We call it Hawaiian pizza for a reason! It's definitely not for everyone. I like guanciale and spam with fresh grilled pineapple. I agree with Parmigiano and we use blue cheese, no canned pineapple please!

In Sweden we've been eating pineapple on pizza for probably 40 years so I wouldn't personally call it a "new idea". 😀 The ones I've had always had ham too in my experience, which is interesting.

I know this is an old video but, every time I have had Pineapple on Pizza it's been with a white sauce and ham and cheese. I always saw it as a different type of Pizza but still Pizza. I always separated the two because of their bases. Also, the idea of do you want it healthier or not. Do you want Neapolitan or not and do you want Pineapple or not. So, to me yeah. Pineapple is white sauce cheese and ham and still Pizza and it belongs on Pizza.

I know you don't like pineapple on pizza but I love your willingness to try and make it possible. In Israel (and I think it also happens in greece) we love putting salty crumbly cheese on watermelon, so I do see a possibility of pa on pizza as something that can work if you work around the sweetness with something that can harmonize with it. I also thought about a sweet and sour taste like what they do in asian sauces, but that remains to be tested.

Hawaiian pizza with pieces of beacon and pineapples is actually one of the most delicious pizzas in existence. I like the combination of the sweet fragrant pineapples mixed with the tangy tomato sauce, cheese and salty beacon on the pizza.
I enjoy pineapple on pizza sometimes, I know its a sensible and debatable topic but my nr 1 advice is if you´re gonna put pineapple on pizza, buy the real deal and slice it into tinny pieces and don´t over do it on the amount, cans of pineapples are no good, just like cans of mushrooms, i rather not put it than use the canned stuff ...

Tomatos are acidic. So does pineapples. Combining both are overkill…they don’t get along with each other. Agree with you Vincenzo.

In Sweden we've been eating pineapple on pizza for probably 40 years so I wouldn't personally call it a "new idea". 😀 The ones I've had always had ham too in my experience, which is interesting.
Maybe because sweet spaghetti in the Philippines exist but I never minded the sweetness of pineapple pizza no need for fancy Italian to "make it better"

I know this is an old video but, every time I have had Pineapple on Pizza it's been with a white sauce and
ham and cheese. I always saw it as a different type of Pizza but still Pizza. I always separated the two
because of their bases. Also, the idea of do you want it healthier or not. Do you want Neapolitan or
not and do you want Pineapple or not. So, to me yeah. Pineapple is white sauce cheese and ham and still
Pizza and it belongs on Pizza.

Pineapple is probably one of the best toppings on vegetarian pizzas, even though I agree than it is no longer a legit pizza but it is still a good spinoff.
well, if you want vegetarian pizza there are soooo many variations you could do...
I know you don't like pineapple on pizza but I love your willingness to try and make it possible.
In Israel (and I think it also happens in greece) we love putting salty crumbly cheese on watermelon, so I do see a possibility of pa on pizza as something that can work if you work around the sweetness with something that can harmonize with it.
I also thought about a sweet and sour taste like what they do in asian sauces, but that remains to be tested.

Hawaiian pizza with pieces of beacon and pineapples is actually one of the most delicious pizzas in existence. I like the combination of the sweet fragrant pineapples mixed with the tangy tomato sauce, cheese and salty beacon on the pizza.

I enjoy pineapple on pizza sometimes, I know its a sensible and debatable topic but my nr 1 advice is if you´re gonna put pineapple on pizza, buy the real deal and slice it into tinny pieces and don´t over do it on the amount, cans of pineapples are no good, just like cans of mushrooms, i rather not put it than use the canned stuff ...

@@vincenzosplate I know that you are not very into pineapple pizza and i respect and comprehend that heheheh so you probably won´t make pineapple pizza again ehehe but for the people who may try it, i beg them to try a good pineapple instead of the can stuff, it really makes a lot of difference, the flavor profile is more twangy and organic, its also relevant to pick a good pinneaple well balanced on the sweet and sour or else it will very pungent with the parmegianno. Thanks for the great recipe tho and for trying out new things even if your not the biggest fan of this kinda of pizza (which i understand, its not for everyone) Cheers from Portugal
