Oh goodness--I can't believe I forgot to mention that! They are 4.5" x 6.5" unfinished (before in a quilt) or 4" x 6" finished. So sorry! I am going to pin this post so others know. Thank you for asking this question!
I actually made a beautiful house quilt using the 'I Spy' technique for a baby quilt. It is very colorful and so happy. I should warn you that they are also addicting.
I absolutely love the block loc ruler for the flying geese!! Will have to order different sizes in those. I have all the square ones!! Poor Jim (hubby)
LOL! Sorry Jim! 😂 They have a ton of different ones now. A good friend of mine has them ALL. EEK! I only have the squares and flying geese for now. I just love them!
A unique idea! I've heard of "Mile a Minute" crochet, but not quilting. Show us your finished quilt when complete!! Going on the internet now to research the idea. Great video!
I’m organizing my scraps now which will take me days maybe weeks. 😢 I love doing those mile a minute or crumb blocks and I think you motivated me on what to do with some of those scraps. Thanks for the video.
EEK! Well, it isn't finished yet. I have the top in my cabinet still, but I do have the Halloween one at the longarmer! I need to get the Christmas one quilted. 😁
I love these blocks. The longest part of making these for me would be cutting all my scraps and sorting. I have heaps of goodness knows what because I don't sort and cut when I have finished making something but rather put them in a bag and that's it. Naughty me. Sewing these would be great to do at a sewing retreat. I have to do no brainer things because there is so much laughing and joking going on and at, it seems, every hour we are having a coffee or tea and eating!!! Will love to see your finished quilt.
YES! I am packing for the retreat today! I have a ton of project I want to work on and I always think I am going to get more finished than I actually do. I am organizing my project from most brain needed to least brain needed since I know as each day passes, I will have less and less brain power. 😂
Thanks for sharing this! I used to play around with the MILE A MINUTE blocks years ago, and it's a great scrap buster. As far as i know, the technique was developed by Carol Coski. She wrote an article for the Winter, 2000, issue of American Quilter magazine, which is where I first learned of it. Somewhere, I have a "pattern" of sorts, also written by Carol.
Oh my goodness! THANK YOU! I have looked everywhere, Dusty! I wanted to make sure to give credit to the creator of this technique. I am glad it is the timeframe I thought it was--I kept thinking, "Am I remembering that right?" LOL! Thank you so much for this.
This looks like such a fun project. I like your idea of patriotic fabrics too. I couldn't find how you put together the blocks for the other quilt, the very colorful crazy quilt. It is beautiful.
Thank you so much! I love the idea of a patriotic quilt, too! Here is a playlist for the crazy quilt. I was new to UA-cam when I started it, so it is kind of a jumbled mess of videos. I need to get them into one long video. 😬 Anyway, I hope this helps! Here it is: ua-cam.com/play/PLjHvTLWU9QXSkDVBGGhKmNC3L38Ja6UDt.html
This is so adorable! I love crumb blocks and have been making Christmas quilts and always save my scraps! This will be the perfect project for those scraps! Thank you!
Perfect for leftovers! I accidentally hit the "thumbs down" instead of the heart, so if you get that notification, I am so sorry! LOL! Fat fingers on my part! 😀

Did you post a UA-cam video of the final quilt top? I'd love to see how it came out but I couldn't find it??? Great job - love your ideas.

Yes, love house blocks. A question though. If you add 1.5 sides to the crumb block that measures 6.5, your roof should be larger that 6.5. Or, did I miss something.
Oh my. Did I make a mistake in the measurements I gave? 😬 The flying geese block measures 4.5" x 8.5" finished (before in the block). I will have to go back and see what I said! Sorry about that!
I don't think I have watched that one! I am going to check it out! This would be adorable as a tree, although you would really have to watch those edges. Hmmmmm. I will have to try that. Thank you!

I have been working on finishing the blocks up, so I think I am going to sash it with Christmas fabric. A friend of mine made one and that's that she did. It looks really nice! I need to get it up on my design wall. I made the roofs red and green and I think I am going to alternate the red and green blocks. Loving how it turned out!
I don't currently have a written pattern. Just this video. Hopefully I can get a pattern written at some point. Thank you so much for watching and your interest! You can do so many things with this technique!
Which machine are you using? It looks amazing . This is going to be a wonderful project. I will start ASAP! Thank you for a clear, detailed tutorial. Yeah for the teacher👏🏾🖐🏾💕🙏🏾🥰
I had that same table you cut on in my sewing room (we put casters on mine) but my room was just too small. My late husband had put it in there for me and so I couldn't remember how he got it in there - lol! I had to take the legs off to get it out. It was a chore!! I like your houses. Thanks for sharing some of the dimensions. I guess after you make the original center, you keep adding strips until it gets bigger than the 6.5". Will you lose your roof eaves/points when you sew the blocks together? The halloween version is cute and I think a patriotic one will be cute too!
Hi! Love that table, too. We got it for $5 from Facebook Marketplace, and it has been in many different areas of my house over the years. Worth every penny! LOL! As for the roof portion, You don't loose the points with the sizes I gave, but I think it has to do with how you make the flying geese units. I patriotic one would be super cute! Thank.you for watching and commenting! ❤️
This is such a great idea. Loved your video. Would you please share the measurements of your roof made into a flying geese unit.?
Oh goodness--I can't believe I forgot to mention that! They are 4.5" x 6.5" unfinished (before in a quilt) or 4" x 6" finished. So sorry! I am going to pin this post so others know. Thank you for asking this question!

YES! Best way to use up that thread! ❤️
Who doesn't love a house block? Having said that, I have yet to complete a quilt with house blocks. Go figure.
This is my first one, too! Well, other than the Halloween one that I made last week. 😀
