LEXX, is a deeply weird series, that from memory actually gets more weird the longer you watch it. Its pretty dark a lot of the time, and from what i remember was on as a late night show in the UK when I saw it originally, hope you enjoy and good luck guys!
Yes I remember watching it late nights on ch5 in the uk. I think I watched all 4 series but the one character cast change after season one changed the the feel of the show.
The fact that you guys took a chance on this oddity earned an instant sub from me. It's one of those lost programs that hides out in the dark corners of our media landscape and asks if you are looking for something a little outside the norm, something that incorporates absurdity with darkness, some solid concepts and a bit of crudeness and shock value to pique some interest. Don't get me wrong, I don't think you could call this a masterclass in story telling or narrative structure. Not even close, but that is part of it's charm. Because it is different, and sometimes that worked, sometimes it didn't, and some things about it do not age very well. However, the fact that it was allowed to proceed in it's strange uniqueness to the extent that it did is maybe more important than what worked or not, or what aged well in today's media environment. I enjoy it for it's weirdness, darkness, occasional shrewdness and it's laughably superficial crudeness. In the sci-fi realm its definitely a guilty pleasure, and I'm glad someone might finally be reacting to it. Just keep expectations fairly low, embrace the weirdness, and I hope you will enjoy it as well.
I love Lexx! I really miss the Farscape reactions. It would be nice to see everyone react -- the series finds itself at the end of season 1 and get really cool.
this is one of those weird, crazy, and very funny series that you just can't forget! whatever expectations you had - throw them out the window! this show is beyond all standards - and expectations! 😊
I love lexx it's such a unique and entertaining show. It's definitely weird and dark but has so many interesting moments that it's worth watching. Even a guest star from the great Tim Curry. It would be great if lexx and Moiya from farscape could get to hang out.
Season one was mostly filmed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with addtional scenes shot in Germany. Later seasons were filmed in those locations but also additional locations. Season three was filmed in Africa on location and looks amazing. Kai the undead Brunin G assasin is my favorite character as he is complex enough to be interesting, but still has a focus. As well his "Brace" weapon he shoots from his wrist is awesome cool when he takes out enemies.
Yup, I remember LEXX when it first aired in the UK, we got the uncut version with nudity, totally bonkers and certainly not for the average crowd of comfortable space-opera sci-fi. The series is a bit hit and miss but it does 'wacky' really well, unpredictable and usually interesting, does have a few memorable villains and notable guest stars. Once you've seen this series you don't forget it.
April 18, 1997 -April 26, 2002 was the original run. Saw it back then and loved it for it's originality. Farscape gets all the buzz for having a living ship but Lexx began the concept 2 years earlier.
This was originally called Tales from a. Parallel universe aired in the Uk and in the US on Showtime as 4 movies then was greenlit for a full series and renamed Lexx that lasted 4 seasons that ended up on the SYFY channel with Farscape and Stargate
Lexx was partially financed by a German production company and the female lead was played by a German actress, but everything else about it is Canadian content. It was filmed primarily in Newfoundland in Canada. In fact, it’s probably the most famous property ever filmed there. The show was originally commissioned by the Syfy channel, which is a pay TV service. It also aired in its country of origin on the Canadian pay TV channel ‘Space’ (now CTV Sci-fi). Back then, pay TV was the Wild West. Censors didn’t pay much attention because the networks were financed by subscriptions rather than advertisers. That’s how the producers were able to get away with so much sex and gore. It’s even true today that shows can get away with much more on pay TV, but this show was a bit of a pioneer in that regard.
This is one of my all time favorite sci fi series. Once you get past these 3 Showtime episodes the Series that was on Sci-Fi afterwards was so much better. Wait til you meet Lykka, Mantrid, Zev, Giggerota, Prince, First Lady Bunny and President Reginald J. Priest.
Oh God, you're doing this little bit of lunacy? It used to air right after "Farscape" at 10 pm on Friday nights on Syfy. It's utterly batshit. But in the best way possible.
You have to watch the rest of the series, because it's truly great and terribly underappreciated... Though three guys watching Lexx together will be kind of weird... Keep your hands where we can see them!
Even back then when the show came out we didn't think what to think about it. Also, this wasn't exactly a show. It was a four-parter that became a show afterwards. At first there was nothing planned beyond the first four parts/movies. Today it's seen as a four-part first season, but not when it aired (as far as I know). So if you go beyond the first 4, be prepared for a drop off in quality. Not just when it comes to effects, but also in writing.
Okay, try 2 as UA-cam glitched. Pretty sure this was the first full HD broadcast show at the time. The effects were groundbreaking for tv at the time, as just a few seconds of CG was astronomical in price in the US. Originally titled Tales From A Parallel Universe... and actually released on VHS in Blockbuster Video under said title for the first season as 4 tapes with campy-cool covers. Sorry, I'm a huge Lexx nerd... heh. I even contacted BB corporate trying to get them to print up Lexx stickers for them so people could find the show, which was brought to the US on tv around that time. This is right up your alley guys, and I think you need to keep going. It's gets weirder... the budget grows and the effects both increase in quality and quantity... and the story is amazingly constructed. Like a genetic cross between Buck Rogers, a GWAR video, and Monty Python.
I don't hate or love LEXX. I love that this got to exist and air. I watched this series all the way through, once. Worth it, but it has pacing issues. I was a Farscape fan. Babylon 5 broke me from Star Trek and Star Wars and I never turned back. I recommend it readily to let people see there's so much more to sci fi.
I think I saw season 2 first. The show was badly promoted when it came out and was relegated to late night tv. It was quite a while before I saw season 1. They would also broadcast season 2 and 3 at the same time in different time slots which was super confusing as each season has its own story arc.
There are a lot more than 4 episodes. That's just season one and they were basicaly 90 minuntes each. There are 4 seasons in total. There are 61 episodes in total. You guys really need to watch it as it's a great show. I hope you will continue as you'll get my view and thumbs up when you do.
I remember watching this when it came out. Original, creative, wierd and dark as I recall. Zev/ Eva Habermann was half the reason I watched TBH.... _slurp_
I watched the show back when it came out as a mini-series of 4 movies on German TV. As weird as it was (and kind on a low budget), I liked it a lot. Sadly, the DVDs that came out later had one episode cut down for a lower rating, so I never bought them. However, when they made a follow-up series (the 2nd season), on an even lower budget, the broadcast got cancelled after a few episodes. There was one rerun of it - but it got cancelled again. And I understood why, it became too silly and too cheap. The actress playing Zev (Eva Habermann) did not want to stay on the show, so they wrote her out in the first episode and replaced her with 'Xev' (Xenia Seeberg) (Yes, both are from Germany)
Not many watch Lexx. Each series is a bit different. lol. It will be interesting to see how far you get. I think season 1 and 3 are the 'best'. But there is some good stuff right through. And a lot of weird stuff ;)
Ohhhh... I think I just got it. The reason the first part of this episode is so horrible is to get to that last part where we say .. And NOW we're in the Dark Zone. Oh, that's the punch line there.
i watched the series it was weird lol for small scifi shows that only last one season try earth 2 or space above and beyond, the main girl gets changed out half way thru the series
A Lexx reaction... How, peculiar... times two... (Yes its European weird, European weird to the extreme and often cheesy and damn near as low as you can get with a low budget but it has some seriously neat premises in all of its seasons). Not to sure its the sort of show R Knights would watch... granted it DOES have Zev in it. Although seems you guys like it... which i wasnt expecting. But yeah for a young 20 something at the time, Lexx was a regular for a good number of years once a week for me, just wasnt like any other show at the time. One thing to note, in their universe they have White Holes... instead of Black Holes, and after passing through the White Hole they came out from a Black Hole (which makes you think).
I would qualify Lexx as grotesque. It has some ups and down, but I re-watched it a few time since it first aired. You have to suspend your dis-belief sometimes.
LEXX is bog standard Brit Sci-Fi. I dislike Brit Sci-Fi. It's depressing, dystopic and doofy. It all feels as if it was made in the '70s and hates its audience.
Lexx is a Awsome show that get more and more darker, weird, messed up and more funny as episode by episode and season by season.... Need Epi 2 my guys...
been a while since I saw anyone, at all, reacting to lexx. a real classic. a really weird classic.
I forgot how normal Lexx started out. Really hope you watch this whole series. I love weird/surreal/cerebral shows and movies.
LEXX, is a deeply weird series, that from memory actually gets more weird the longer you watch it. Its pretty dark a lot of the time, and from what i remember was on as a late night show in the UK when I saw it originally, hope you enjoy and good luck guys!

What do you expect from a stellar Canadian-German combo effort? :D
LEXX is like Farscape on drugs
Add 14 year old boy to that description.
I’ve started it a couple times but never got hooked, but I like Farscape, and I like drugs, so I’ll give it another shot. 😁
really really BAD quality drugs... but such a guilty pleasure of a train wreck LOL
@@johnpatz8395 The first season is the "best", the other seasons just start blasting crap against the wall to see what sticks LOL
@@ZakhadWOW oh, it’s a “so bad it’s good?” I didn’t realize that, as I really liked Farscape, the one most over compared too

God bless you guys...this is gonna be 🙂😃😄😆😅😂🤣
Nice, i love that you react to this old classic series. It is weird but in a good way, at least for my taste.
There is no denying its weirdness :-)
OK I'll make this blatent.....Please continue Lexx!!!!
this is one of those weird, crazy, and very funny series that you just can't forget! whatever expectations you had - throw them out the window! this show is beyond all standards - and expectations! 😊
This should be interesting. Don't remember details about this series, but "weird and wacky" come to mind.
Long live the BRUNIN -G

I don’t love this show, nor hate it, but I can belt out the title song even after 20 years, so that’s something.
Yes you will love it like i do and will come to Worship His Divine Shadow... Now whos hotter Zev Xev or Lika
This was originally called Tales from a. Parallel universe aired in the Uk and in the US on Showtime as 4 movies then was greenlit for a full series and renamed Lexx that lasted 4 seasons that ended up on the SYFY channel with Farscape and Stargate
It's a weird soft porn scifi show with some of scifi actors. 90s german scifi, so it's XXX related. Loved the opening song. The Ol Way Yo, Brunen Gi

LEXX Season 1 is only 4 episodes, and I think the next 3 are better than the pilot. Season 2 is the best season IMO.
Love me some LEXX!
LEXX is weird !!!! but very original !
Yeah Lexx is a weird one, in later series it sort of reminded me of red dwarf with the crew dynamics but still with more of an edge and weirdness.
check out the Species Franchise as well
Check out The Orville!
