- RNI's chequered history can be sampled on "Radio Ship On Fire" - at • Radio Ship On Fire! - ... - also on this channel. After which, you can check out more strangeness on damienatloppers...
Those were the days of REAL radio ! 😻
Brilliant, used to listen to this on my transistor radio at home in Lowestoft. Another grest bit of nostalgia, lovely days, no mob phones, computers. Life was a more sedate pace.
The great radio ship. The Mebo 2 Radio North Sea International so sadly missed by all who loved decent radio.
At least we have Boom radio that kind of works with some well known DJs from the past. Sadly the real greats are no longer with us.
A great era of radio RNI in the 70s
This was played on a non talking radio station in Spain. I have been trying to think where I heard it & put in 'Radio Norde sea international' & it came straight here. Lovely piece of music, lovely station that played great music. Thanks for posting it.
Where did those times go, thanks for posting this its great.
Brings back great memories of RNI
a legendary station
great days of radio..
Used to pick this up in bridlington..yaaarkshire.. and if lucky york..appy daze
loved rni cant get that catcht theme out of your head brilliant
Best radio station ever life was better then
Och, I remember tuning into this station when I moved to The Netherlands in 1973, I can't remember who the announcers were, but they were light years better than the boring pricks broadcasting out of Hilversum. Een heerlijke tijd, dank je Noordzee, groeten uit Australie.
It was about 2 miles away from Radio Veronica which was a Dutch broadcast station.
@@chriseast7798Veronica 192 still blasting out on the Internet with all those ads & jingles that you probably remember!
15 May 1971: Man Of Action plays in the background as the Mebo II gets firebombed
Doctor: You Only have 2:33 mins to live
Me: Watches this. 🚢
Great history, Radio Handmade. On the Radio Days, Exra AM Amsterdam 1332 sends the old shows from their ship
Bringes back memories
It was always a bit hard to get Radio North Sea International out in West Wales, but good when you could get the signal.
Stephen Smith I lived in Ipswich, Suffolk - so could get EVERYTHING except Caroline North and Radio Scotland!
morpheusatloppers
I'd have happily traded Aberystwyth for Ipswich!
@gazrobbo53 My pleasure! This and "Big Lil" (also on this channel) DEFINE good listening in Sixties S.E. England!
Great programs , sadly missed
I used to hear this being played on the Dutch service of RNI or Veronica just after the midday news and weather circa 1972.
Im sure I heard the presenter Hans Up-de-mast on this station and also Win Melted-mas-bar, doing a double header, but it might be a misted memory !
thank you so much for this, real radio by people who really wanted to play music they loved and had knowlege of, its all so false now.
Absolutely.
"MAN Of Action"
14 years old and loved I the dentists! Because the receptionists boyfriend was a DJ on the Mebo2 :) Cant remember, Martin Kane maybe?
Played when a issue happens. Like the 1970 hijack or the 1971 fire bomb.
Happy Memories of RN! in seventies
RNI listened from 71 till final hour in 74.
Sorry kids but there was a time when music radio was actually worth tuning in to. Now the ad men have moved in & turned commercial radio into a series of 'clone' stations with limited playlists & mechanical presenters.
Come back RNI - we need you now !
gets to me why did a respected orchestra leader release a single in 1970...RNI
magic
@HoratioNel The Sixties would never have HAPPENED - at least, not half as much - without these heroes.
World's greatest station. Best DJ was Stuart Mackenzie
Sorry, Brian Mackenzie
les reed and his orchestra - men or man of action?
Listen in 2.0 Speed
I ran adisco way back yes the mebo 2
many a flat battery..
good track though eh?
These stations, Caroline, London, Luxemburg etc. were revolutionary wonders and thus hounded by the establishment authorities representing such duds as BBC1 with its cheap copy rubbish. Without these fantastic "pirate boats" we're expected to be spoon fed here in Germany with cheap shit like Bayern 1 (Bavarian radio, channel 1) with its typical German establishment, politically correct propaganda. Although sorely missed, the "pirate" stations are far from dead and will return in a new form.
Luxembourg wasn't a pirate and was quite legal., therefore wasn't hounded, but you are correct about bbc radio 1.
