Please do the video mentioned in the end. Using this instead of the preamp on a cheap multi effect unit or a Katana.
See how all alternatives reacts with some classic drive pedals.
I run a Lightkeeper as an always on boost into my Simplifier. Sounds great 👌
24:06 Pete's chugging is coming along nicely!!
Djentish Pete
I have the Beekeeper and the Sunkeeper, really beautiful sounds from both of them. I love the Effectrode Blackbird, too, especially its blue channel is dreamy.
Good luck with them guys!!
The Magnezium is awesome. There's an output/treble cut switch next to the output jack that might have been on. That's for when it goes into the front of a guitar amp. It's really nice with the Mid knob is up a bit for Rev Billy Gibbons type sounds.
I use a lightkeeper with my HX Stomp to do exactly as you described Pete, to make it warmer and better.
Just adds the depth you need and ensures fuzz works effectively!
Love all your content guys! Hope one day i can visit the store ;)! Much love from Perú 🇵🇪
Yes, even the 50W Katana's have a dedicated power-amp in now.
One of the reasons I bought one.
These pedals are a genius idea to have a a whole lineup.
There's something very pleasant with the top end of the beekeeper that some sims get wrong. I can say for certain I dig this pedal.
Trying tube preamps into the Katana would make a useful video, since the Katana is arguably the most prolific amps sold in the last eight years.
And yet I’ve never even met someone who has used one let alone has one. So I think that could be a possibility it’s probably a dubious claim.
I have a mini. And it doesn't take pedals well. It clips in a bad way. Even active pickups sound like garbage at full guitar volume
@@crock2434 Weird. The regular Katanas take pedals extremly well.
I run Blackstar HT-Metal pedal fitted with a 12AX7 into the front of a Katana 100 and it sounds great. Better than the built in drives in my opinion.
@@freddiejvrI run a HT Dual in front of an AC15 (& other amps), works brilliantly.
Warms up SS amps nicely too.
These pedals work well with Quilter amps. I run a Magnezium into a Superblock UK and it sounds great.
Up front or in the loop?
@@musclediy5838 Either way sounds good. I tend to go into the front of the SB most of the time. Allows me to use the limiter, which just adds a little something extra.
@@sprkmrkr Thanks! I have the US, great amp.
Hello Andertons, maybe a video you could do is comparing pedal power supplies? For example, daisy chaining your pedals versus isolated power supplies. Just showing the noise difference and advice with pedal PSUs in general. 👍🏻
GREAT JOB!
Something to consider with tube tone in the preamp vs. power amp parts of a circuit......Thomas Blug and his BluGuitar amps get all the tube tone from a tube in the power amp section. I have the Iridium and now I get it. Most of that chewy good tube tone comes from the power tubes in an amp cranked up. He has no tube in the preamp section and the sound is amazing. I think that was what EVH was doing using a variac. Working the power section to the max at a lower volume. Amps were different back then. That's why all the older guys say you had to crank them to get that sound. It's mostly in the power tubes. I could be wrong but that is what I currently understand.
What amps were different back then? Tubes amps is tube amps. The tube amp section sound is a result of the distortion & compression aspects of the phase inverter preamp tube (if it's a push/pull design), the power tubes, the output and power transformers, rectifier, and how the speaker impedance reactively affects those aspects.
I could sit and watch pete noodle around all day long. I would love to see he and tim pierce spend a weekend together just having a big jam session.
That beekeeper is sweet. It seems to do a lot, can a good amp do most of this though with adjusting thr setting? I dont know
32:19 Doomish Pete channels his inner Sleep with a thousand mile stare
As far as the dark sounds you mentioned, there is a switch on the side of the Magnezium and Sunkeeper that toggles an IR adjustment. That may be why you were having difficulties with not enough treble.
Yeah. It's really frustrating when they go to the trouble to make a video, but can't take 2 minutes to read the manual and figure out how something actually works.
Good pedals 😁 Is it Charles Berthoud voice we can hear in the background ? 😁
You guys just don’t stop do you! Love your vids and hope one day I can make it to visit!
16:13 I believe EHX already made that pedal pete, it's called the Analogizer!
The old V front Fender twin was the Pro
The tweed version of the twin is known as the High Powered Twin. It was the most top of the line amp they made at the time 125 watts 2x12, I've seen backstage footage of Keith Richards using them for big out door gig in the 60s.
Ultra linear design?
Please film running one these into a solid state amp’s back end and tell us if it feels like a tube amp.
I’m a nextone special guy. So I’ve got power tube emulation.
But it’s the feel I’m after.
I had no idea that tube pedals should only go into the effects return. I've run my Tubeklon and a tube boost into the front of amps never questioning it. I'd love to know why I've been getting it wrong and I'm grateful for the education.
No, that isn't true. Doesn't matter if there is a tube in there. But those are supposed to be tube preamps, which means they are basically supposed to replace the built-in preamp of the guitar amp. And you can bypass the preamp by going straight into the FX return. But you don't have to do that.
Because it's like plugging a guitar amp into your guitar amp.
Like @mrcoatsworth429 said, the only time it's adviseable to do that is if it is a preamp pedal. There are plenty of OD or boost pedals that have tubes that are meant to be in front of the amp. Some Preamp pedals like the Victory preamp pedals even say you can go in front of the amp if you want. There is no right or wrong, whatever sounds best for you, go with it
That's what I thought. I guess I misunderstood what Lee was saying. Thanks for confirming... I'll be able to tell my wife I'm not an idiot after all.
Use your ears instead of advices
Pete's vinegar face is really coming along. Didn't Damage Control start this tube in a pedal thing (still use my Womaniser now and then )? EggNog sounds great.
Must have KT valves/tubes please 😊
um er affordable ?... that's relative , when you can pick up a second hand Orange Terror Stomp ( with valve ) for less than £100 , that to more people is affordable .. plus its a 20 watt giggable ( ive done it several times now ) amp , with fx loop and di out , its amazing , cork sniffers and tyre kickers over £300 for a ( albeit nice sounding ) pre amp ?
How do the giveaways work? Like how do we enter.
I think the sunkeeper had a bit of an MC5 vibe.
TUBES!!!
I wonder, considering the price of these, could a newer player run these through the effects loop of their solid state amp and have a sort of makeshit tube amp. It would certainly be economical!
Diamonds are forever
I know how you love to touch it, stroke it and undress it.
Propaganda
Next you’ll be telling me breakfast is the most important meal 🙄
Canadian!
Canada has just invented an overdrive pedal, how about a reverb pedal next and then a fuzz box.
I recently saw the Beekeeper movie. At least, in this one, he was and ex good guy doing bad things to bad people for a good reason. Usually he's just a bad guy doing bad things to worse people.
Am I the only one who sees that stunning pink metallic strat there next to Pete? That guitar should get more attention is all I'm saying
Are those only for interface or directly into speakers? As in can you use them like a pedal in front of an amp? And how would that sound?
They're designed to act as the preamp in your signal chain. So they would be best suited to go into the effects return of an amp. If you run it into an interface you would need a cabinet simulator either in hardware form before the interface (like the ox stomp) or in software (usually via a "plugin" in your daw, or standalone like guitar rig or neural).
They wouldn't be expected to sound as good going into the front of an amp as that amp's preamp is then effecting the eq, ontop of the eq the pedal is already providing.
They sound fabulous as straight overdrive pedals into the front of an amp. It’s how I use mine.
@@benspinks342 thank you. I wished they would have shown that too. It leaves us guessing what it sounds like.
I've always been dubious about valves in pedals as I dont understand how the low voltage and amperage of 9 -12 and 18v pedals can drive a valve (vacuum tube), are they just a gimmick or do they really add anything?
I realise these are pre amps and not o/d pedals but the same kinda thing applies I imagine and as you can probably guess I know very little about valve amps other than how to plug a guitar into one ;)
This thing is known as a "boost converter," which is a circuit that takes a 12V input and increases it up to 300V. In our pedals, it transforms 12V/200mA into 280V/15mA.
They can do it. Kingsley pedals do it as well. It does make a difference.
"Love you long time" haha
Mmm this or Chase Bliss Onward?🤔
I learned a lot about Jason statham today 😂
Why does a Canadian company only sell in Australia, France , Japan, and England … I’m Canadian and I’m curious why they don’t sell in Canada…
We are happily selling our pedals all across Canada through our website.

Next they'll be telling us about aluminum enclosed tubes being sold by a mom and pop store on main street where you can join the line to get the best bang for your buck.
Hmmm DS-1 orange..
Oh come on Pete, these emulators are perfectly the same as a real amp. 🙃
Oh well, maybe next year when they say they sound the same they'll mean it. They've only been sating it every year for as long as they've made these things.
You believe Pete’s used car sales BS like it’s truth 😂😂🤣🤣🤣.

Holydays?
They can all be used into the front end of an amp as well. Not all effects loop inputs are ideal.
What i wouldnt give for danish pete to play some damn power chords from time to time. Always w the jazz runs and clean blues. Gimme some tool chords or somethin from time to time sheesh lol

You are very correct about Canada Pete, everything here costs a lot of money! There is so much monopolizing by companiesof grocery prices for example that the Canadian government actually issues Grocery Rebates,,its ridiculous AND do not get me started on guitar prices, we always have to pay hundreds and hundreds more dollars per guitar than our neighbors to the south! @@ToddTheJoker wrong!, Todd the Wad!
The company does a huge biz with guys using these pedals as their dirt channel in all manner of old old amps. Many if not most are single channel and do not have an effects loop to go direct to the power amp. My point is this demo would put off 80% of the guys that would love one. You guys should take literally 2 minutes out of your life and read the manual. The first thing it tells you is about the hookup simply plugging straight into your amp.. The Eggnog is the cheapest and going into an old Fender you get a beyond killer sound right thru the front end.
English people saying "Moonttraihaaall" 😂 probably same effect than "Leisseusteur sskaireuh" from french people 🤣

Canada had to have their own dollar didn't they 🤦♂️😭
Would be pretty hard to operate their own monetary policy if they didn't have their own dollar.
@@pepmasters-999I didn't say it wouldn't be. Anyway, Canadians seem happy enough with it. I've never heard them moan once about guitar or amp prices 😂😢
@@johnelcanrab2114 50ish years ago the Pound versus Cdn dollar was around 5 to 1 so . . .
@@pepmasters-999problem lies with what they did with their own dollar then. They messed up somewhere, no? Australia's the same...
Guitarists love big hot tubes!
Love you guys and the demos. But you missed the mark on the Beekeeper. Once you bleed some of the treble the Beekeeper is really something special. If you A-B it with a Strymon Riverside you pick the Beekeeper. You needed a bit more time and did a bit more fiddling.
Everytime I hear these pedals I think the same thing--they sound nothing like the amps they're modeled after. That's not to say they sound bad, they just don't sound like the amps.
They're not models though.
@@DudeMcGuybrohe didn't say they are.
@@johnelcanrab2114 "They sound nothing like the amps they're modeled after"
It's not a model.
A preamp is like the heart of an amp, but it needs the proper power amp and speaker to sound like a specific amp. You can mix and match these preamps with other gear, but it won't sound like the original amp anymore.
I can see this type of pedal at the end of the chain of the pedal board for giging players who can't have his amp with him. He goes to the venue and rents or gets Fender Deluxe and plugs into the FX loop return. Then he has something that's known territory. Or uses IR pedal and dives Line out to the house.
But for someone owning a great amplifier and being able to have it on stage, this is not needed, and it just takes pedal space and requires a lot of power. I do not see it as an improvement of the average amplifier. If you are not happy with your amplifier, save money, sell te current amplifier and get the amplifier that suits you. Half steps will just cost you money. All parts of your rigg should be around same level so you do not degrade the sound. But if you have everything at nice level there is no replacement for a good amplifier.
You guys really should’ve put these into the effects loop, so they drive the power amp. A good valve preamp, can make a solid state amp, sound better, and have headroom more like a Tube amp.
They did plug into the effects loop. It's literally one of the first things they say. So my question is what are you bitching about then?
@@UnklePecosmy question to you is - have you never misheard something or made a mistake in your life? Why are you treading on his neck over something so innocent. Smoke a spliff or take your meds mate.
