A tip: if for any reason your tuner can't do the 425hz tuning normal method, 450 Hz and tuning flat of your target tune will get you the same results +/- 1 to 1.5 cents.
For anyone using variable tuning effects such as what is found on the Line 6 Helix, use these settings as follows for a standard tuned guitar: 435 Hz Standard E -0.3 using the Simple Pitch Block and "Cents" parameter 425 Hz Standard E -0.6 using the Simple Pitch Block and "Cents" parameter 425 Hz Standard D -2.45 using the Poly Pitch Block

Nailed everything pretty much...was gonna chime in about the 'Cowboys' tuning being slightly closer to 'E standard' but before I knew it you already had it down near the end...Absolutely great work! Oh! something to note, I think Dime might've used a '9-46' gauge with regard to the D standard(ish) tuning (Walk, New Level etc.). Dime actually used 9-46 strings for d standard 425hz and 9-42 for e standard stuff, he always kept a 9 for his e strings even when tuning down further than d standard he would thicken the guages for the thicker strings while keeping super light guage for his high strings allowing you to bend with absolute ease. I know this for a fact because he explains it in his famous clinic video that we have all seen and he explains that his fbd ml that was in the walk video is set up with 9-46 guage for d standard.
I am very well aware of that video. And it could be true, though He also says there that songs like Walk and New Level are in drop tuning which they are NOT for sure for sure. I would not be surprise if at the time He simply A: wouldn't really wanna give away all the secrets to His tone and stuff since it was much more magical like that (especially in that era...), and/or B: He simply was'nt really paying attention when answering that question....

This the first time I've seen Pantera Tuning with "Hz" on the internet, and believe me I search for it for a long time, To discover the A =43Xhz I had to calculate by hand, those are my calculations, if it's down 1/4 of a semi tone, and I Know A4 is 440hz, and A2 is 220hz, it means an octave (this octave) has 220hz, 220/12(semitones) = 18.333..., 18.333/4 = 4.58333333, só it's 440 - 4.583 = 435.41667hz! If my math is right, I think we Found it.

I used to have a small rectangle shaped pocket digital tuner and I could setup any specific hz I wanted and it came cheap.it only used to cost 15 to 20 pounds.
I know that at least for the Arlington Guitar Clinic, Dime played Primal Concrete Sledge in D Standard 425 Hertz rather than Drop D. Makes me wonder if he always did that live so he wouldn’t need a Drop D guitar.
Yup, and I for example do the same, most of the time... not much of a difference, Id say it's actually rvevn easier with standard tuning, because that heavy breakdown riff is played with a smaller stretch since it's two frets higher... ;)

I know a lot of artists unintentionally tuned under what would be technically microtonal because they tuned it by ear and we’re close but they ended up liking it that way so they kept it like that. I wonder if Dimebag did this intentionally after it being unintentional.

Hey Attila ive seen multiple people even a recent metal injection cover of By Demons Be Driven . Everyone plays it differently. what is the correct way ? i have the tuning right. I play it freting the notes at first then open with the starting riff. i see people also starting with open E as well.
The slightly off tunings of pantera drove me fkin nuts as a kid trying to play along! Same with peace sells. Slightly sharp on vinyl. I'm not even that good at playing but I was particular about tone and tuning. Probably the reason I never excelled! wasted too much time farting about with settings and tuning!

For anyone wondering, the Korg TM-60 is one of the few tuners out there that go as low as 425Hz, plus it's a really nice cheap little tuner.

C# 445Hz is a bit flat with D 425Hz as reference. C# 445Hz +35 or 40 cents it is.

Pro guitar tuner ap is free and you can see the cents and quickly change to any tuning. Measuring hertz is something a cell ohone can do easily.

It was their standard (both live & in studio) from the Vulgar album up until Damageplan

I been messing with 444 tuning and just checking all the ranges my micro tuner has. Do alot of bands even mess with other frequencies?

Okay so I’m tuning stupid lol I have a crappy little tuner that doesn’t give me any into but the note and a scale to show your in the middle. How the heck would I use that to get the right tuning?! 😂 I just wanna play along with domination live in Moscow haha
Id just get a cheap little clip on tuner. Many times those are not only cheap but actually really accurate ;)
